  • I filmed this whole vlog on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. The camera isnt perfect and the audio is a bit blown out at times but wowzes... it's a great in-pocket story-telling machine! Carson River fishing is so fantastic and it is very close to the town of Markleeville. Brought my Wife Lorie Anne, and 2 youngest Daughters, Maxine & Skyla. Enjoy!

    Stumbled across your video looking for less crowded place to vacation. Mammoth Lakes/June Lake has gotten so crowded with non fishermen and people who don’t respect the land and wildlife. Looks like a beautiful place and very nice fish.

      It’s really nice and it’s far enough away that it doesn’t get too crowded. There is a good mix of very serious anglers and family fun

    For catch and release, a net and single hooks are a good investment for increasing the success of the release process.

    You should have gone to Grove Hot Springs state park there in Markleeville! You stay in the Hot springs until 8PM. But it is closed for cleaning on Wednesdays. Plus take a drive over Hwy 4 scenic drive to Kenny Lake & then over Ebbetts Pass to Alpine Lake & Over Hwy *9 to Hwy 395 down to Bridgeport

    There is a reason they stock this every year. The natives are limited but stocked are pletiful. Switch to powerbait and you will reel them in all day.

    I do nothing but catch and release fly fishing these days. That beautiful rainbow you caught is way too valuable to kill and eat, and way too valuable to be caught just once. Consider it.

    • @bryanauer
      @bryanauer  3 роки тому

      It was a stocker ... a delicious planted rainbow. I respect what you’re saying... I practice catch and release 99% of the time actually ocean fishing 99.9% of the time.

      Perhaps he places a different value on the eating than you do. Why is your value correct and his not?
      The East Fork of the Carson is heavily planted every year, including a lot of big ones like that.

    Unfortunately this beautiful area is not quite so beautiful anymore thanks to the knucklehead Forest Service letting the Tamarack fire go from one smoldering lightning struck tree for two weeks that they did nothing about until it was 68,000 acres of charred landscape including everything around Markleeville.

    Make the videos have the fun but try to keep the good locations on the down low man. Nothing worse than fishing a spot that gets blown up because of social media narcissism.
