Jonas, I don't believe for a minute that not taking commissions is being spoilt, selfish or wrong. If people want to own your art then let them own your art not thier version of it. I am not a proffessional artist but I teach carving and help and encourage others to take up creative pursuits for there own sake. It's good for the soul. The overwhelming opinion among my fellow creatives is to do our own thing and to bring joy to the world with our art. Your art inspires me.
I completely agree with this!
I really love how this turned out! The waterfalls really make the piece look like a banner hanging from the wall! And the way the oil poured through the cave was a great shot!
Thank you! I agree it kind of looks like a banner. Ended up being pretty interesting
Oh my, how beautiful. Your so talented. Please don't stop. Love the cup too. Let's not forget your sweet puppy.
Amazing as always, and let’s not forget those very brief glimpses of the stunning scenery outside your workshop.
Thank you! I was thinking about bringing my sculpture up in the mountains to special places i know of in the future as an end for my videos
Your art always bring me some good feelings. And that view from your workshop... just WOW
Thank you! Yeah i often think about how lucky i am to live so close to nature. Fun fact! Went fishing yesterday and caught my first fresh water fish this year!
I also want to say that every time I watch your videos it relaxes me, if I want to relax and get my mind off things I think of your videos!
Thank you! I find the simplest things to be the most relaxing. Spend time in nature or with good company
Brilliant work Jonas! I find that taking commisions kills my creativity, i'm much happier making my visions come out, so, no, not spoilt, but free!
Jonas,
Wow! That's really beautiful! Thank you for taking time to draw, carve, film, edit and post this video.
Jonas, I always look forward to your videos, they are a calm break from life and I LOVE them! I think your sense of humour is brilliant, I think you are humble, your skill is truly incredible, your artwork is beautiful, and the ideas you come up with are so unique and again beautiful! It is not selfish at all to want to do things your way at your pace. You are one of a kind, keep up the good work, and I wish you all the luck in the world.
P.s. I, and im sure many others do aswell, quite enjoy when you don't add music from time to time and just let the natural sounds of the woodworking do the talking. But they are your videos, and we always come back, so you do you my friend 👍🏼☺️
Doing the art you love and are interested in is far more important than doing commission work. And as always your work is stunning and valuable. I always look forward to your Patreon updates and your youtube videos.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the support so much and it keeps me very motivated!
You never seized to amaze me with the beautiful artwork you create every single time!!
🤯 this is my new favourite 😊 I'm glad you're getting some well deserved upgrades and new toys. Keep them coming 🙌💗
This turned out so beautiful ❤ I love their peaceful looks and the taper of the waterfall looks so satisfying!
Thank you for sharing, Jonas, and have a wonderful weekend ✨
Thank you!
Don't change ... your approach to your craft, your commentary, your humour
Your mom was right, looking very professional with the gloves. ❤😂
Haha thank you!
I thought they look a bit Dr Strangelove?
That turned out great! The water looked realistic. I would love to see you carve a large piece, maybe a sasquatch or a troll 🤪 ✌️
Fantastic!! I love your work. You are a true artist and wonderful human-being. ❤❤
As long as whatever you’re making is beautiful to you and you put your whole heart into it someone will see that and love it just as much as you do and will purchase it if able. It’s nice to have a talent like that then you can still make a little little bit of money from doing what you love without taking the fun away from it.
I rarely ever comment on UA-cam videos, but I just have to keep coming back to interact with yours! You're sculptures cease to amaze and suprise me and your videos are so nicely put together! And of course we're all here because you are so likeable personally. ❤ I can't wait to see your art pieces in museums for years to come !
Each new sculpture is my new favorite lol
Thank you! That would be amazing if that happend 😊
Your mom was right, you look awesome with those black gloves!
Oh... and as always, the sculpture looks awesome as well. To mimic water in wood is hard, but you've done a nice job!
Thank you. I will let her know! And thank you for tje compliment. I will be making more waterfalls in wood in the future, i am sure
Wow this is so beautifulmlove the bears
Hi Jonas. I received the cup today. It's so beautiful. I so much admire your talent and love your work. Thank You so much. I will cherish this. CGarneau.
Thank you for letting me know! So glad you liked it and i am very grateful for the support. Lately i have been thinkkng about fully commiting to sculptures only so maybe the cup you have will be a big rarity since i might not make many more
Amazing work! I love it! Thank you for sharing!
What a beautiful and sweet masterpiece.
Thank you!
This is the third time to watch and it just gets better every time exactly job take care and be safe
You're just getting better! Well done, this is a beautiful piece. Your Waterfall depiction is epic. Your love of wood and beautiful designs are a real inspiration! Loved the cup too. Thank you
Lol, Love your sense of humour, always keep being you 😁 And waaaah, not only ducks but a doggo also?! Best video ever!
Love all the textures going on with fluffy bears, solid rocks and soft water. Looks amazing!
Thank you! animals and nature is the most precious things i have around me!
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft That is fair. But out of curiosity, why ducks? 😁
Wow Jonas, amazing work and you are by no means spoilt or selfish. All you have to do is why you need to do. Your life no one else's. Love your creativity
Love this. The bears look like they are glad to not be falling over the water falls. They are saying let’s just stay here forever. Happy and together.
Hi Jonas, well, what can I say ? You have done it again. What a spectacular piece of woodwork, it is beautiful.
Thank you so much! I was very happy with the result
I knew someone who worked in leather. He said that finding those small and easy to make things to sell was what gave him the means to make what he really wanted to make.
Beautiful work. As always. Keep that creativity alive :)
You're bears and waterfall piece came out buetiful. I can't wait to see what you do next.
Thank you so much!
That is absolutely gorgeous 😍
No ducks were harmed ‘during’ the filming of this video. Ha
Nicely done!
Amazing! The water really looks like water!
What a beautiful work, I love watching your videos😊

Thank you so much!
Beautiful. I love your work.
Fantastic, beautiful work. My compliments. You are a true artist.
Thank you so much!
❤. I can see these hugging bears as a small stand alone figure 😊. I would buy it.
cool!!! beautiful, walnut for the win again!!
Thank you!!
So beautiful! I love how all of your carvings have their own personality and each seems part of a story carved in wood. Also love the shots at the end of the oil pouring down the waterfall! I love the overall shape of this carving and the effect of the long flowing motion cascading down.
When I saw you post this design on instagram, I was hoping you would make it. Its so beautiful. I cant wait to see whats next!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely spectacular work of ART 👍👍
Thank you so much! A lot of fun to try out ideas i feel are new grounds for me
very nice
As a hobby blacksmith i made the decision to do my own thing as it is to stressful to create someone else's idea's. so don't feel bad just keep being the awesome man you are
You nailed it! I guess taking commisions would be a challenge and satisfying to complete, But ye personal stuff is a lot less stressful i agree
Wall hanging bears looks great fella!!!!
Really beautiful ❤
Keep the bar up. As always, a masterpiece.
Thank you!
Your videos have inspired me to start doing wood sculptures opposed to metal ones with scrap.. it's a whole new challenge of knowing where to start and how much material to remove and where to remove it.. I'm currently making a HALO helmet and it's a huge step up in challenges.. maybe.. I should record it lol.. Great work sir!
That sounds awesome! I played a bit of halo years back and its one of my favourite games for sure!
@Jonasolsenwoodcraft just bought a printer to do templates because freehanding on surface that isn't uniform didn't work lol... and I have no band saw lol
Great work man you always inspire me and I keep up comenting under each video 😁 I just finished a huge project myself and it always helped a lot and motivated me to watch your videos
Well, Spoiled Rotten Child, what can I say? Nice work, smooth, and emotion evoking with the bears hugging. I have a small Swarovski crystal turtle I would put in that cave, just for the fun. See how many visitors would spot that. I'm happy to say that you are not alone in patting things you are working on. I do that with my trees when I'm pruning them, sometimes my kitchen counter after a good cleaning and spiffing up. Sometimes I even pat myself after I've done something. I do it on purpose though on the trees just to let them know I appreciate them and how well they withstood my torture. It's not easy for trees to be pruned but it's necessary to help them stay healthy and grow strong. I still like your first sculpture best - the Otter Shaman.
Thank you! I guess its some deep rooted way we humans are when it comes to touching things with our hands to get a feel for it. Thanks for mentioned the Otter shaman. Would be fun to make a larger version now that i have bigger tools.
I'd like to see the horse or unicorn sculpture You made ❤❤❤
Be nice to see you carve different woods
Agreed! Been thinking about getting some Oak
yet another fantasic peace of art,
and yes always make what
ever it is that makes you happy
Such talent and skill 👍👍
Thank you!
Ooooh pretty cup. But won't they absorb the drink you put in them? I can take an hour finishing such a large tea 😅 Wouldn't want the wood to swell.
As for the art piece, I loved watching the bears take shape, and I love you gave them basically the same name in 2 different languages 😊
The oil i use for the cups are food safe danish oil and it completely seals the pores of the wood so it will handle coffee and tea just fine! 😊
THE MAN. THE MYTH. THE LEGEND. He's back.
Thank you haha
I like it ...normally i don't like to hang things on the wall
Thank you! Hmm well since i only have flat pieces of walnut its what i have been making, But i will go for a free standing sculpture in July!
I'm surprised you don't use modeling clay to plan things out, I feel like it could have helped with the bears hugging each others
magnifique! Encore merci pour ce partage
Thank you!!
Классно!!!!

10:00 if in doubt, nip the end off the screw. It's been predrilled, so you dont need the end so much...
Good point!
i think you are one of the greatest artist´s in this century,.. what you do is pure art and craft,.. have you concidered to make something like cabinet or peace of furniture with all kind of carvings? it would be one of the kind, i can only imagine how majestic a piece of furniture would look with your skills in carving...
Jonas
We share the same passion, the same age (30?!) and the same fine humour ;)
But I can't get my head around one thing: why haven't I inherited the same drawing skills?! I only carve by hand, but if I don't have 360° references of what I'm going to carve, I go crazy. Unfortunately, I don't have your ability and I spent most of the time trying to figure out at least one side and top view from a front view image.
Any tips for improving the creative side? Videos, articles, blogs are all welcome :) it could really help me saving time
Until the next video!
Greetings from Italy 🪵
Just keep practicing! Thats what i did
when i get paid im gonna come back amd buy kne of the cups, someone remind me xx
I appreciate that! Keep in mind supporting me through watching my content is far more than i can ask for so i am very grateful for that!
One issue I saw was the bear paws count the fingers
Yeah i know, But i am not ashamed to admit that all my creations are heavily rooted in fantasy so there are countless «mistakes» anatomically.
Jonas! What is the name of the hardware you use to mount the sculptures?
I only know the norwegian name: Hengebeslag
It needed a tree ...
Hey! care to elaborate?
👍🇺🇦
Why do you have ducks in your room?
Its their indoors room. There is a open gateway for the to walk outside whenever they feel like it. They are just inside to eat
You are great artist, but music in your videos doesn’t fit your work. Generic DIY music.
Thanks for the feedback. I am using epidemicsounds as a source for the music. It is tricky to find a match at times
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft try acoustic, more folk music. Thanks for reply:)
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Please tell your mother nicely that your videos (and editing skills) are already of professional quality, since they are 😊🪵
