    I forgot to say….I was unsure of the horizontal lines for G. The finished look was very good!!

      I wasn't sure either. I was going to do a crosshatch at first. But I like the simplicity of the horizontal lines. Thank You!

      Hi Brenda! How have you been? I'm so glad to upload this video that is over an hour long. I was thinking of you when I posted it because that last video I posted was less than a minute long and that's not enough time to hand stitch and enjoy a video!

    Yes I watched the whole video. :-). I loved it. I purchased your rulers for the Baptist Fan. I practiced on a small quilt and was very surprised and happy how easy they are to use and to keep everything lined up. I am hand guided and had purchased a different ruler years ago. It was not as easy to use and did not give nice smooth lines. Needless to say I only gave that ruler a couple quilts worth of chances. Haha. Love yours! Thank you for all the thought you put into the rulers to give the guide lines. Etc.

    I agree that the juxtaposition of the straight lines and the Baptist fans was brilliant for this. I love everything about this quilt (and now I want the kit!!!). Sorry to be cluttering up your comment box!

    I learned I could guess how far to go by counting how many stitches I need to take to get to 1" away. Doesn't always work, but it gets you close.

      Hey there! Glad you found me. I do not have an international distributor. I know it's expensive to ship, but that is the only option I have present. Let me know if I can help in any way.

      Hi Anita. Borders - I do them all different ways. I wish I could say I have a system for every quilt, but I really do them in different orders. I probably most often save borders for the last thing to do, but it would make sense to do them as you go.
      Happy Quilting!

    So, I would like to know how the Essence is to work with. I am about to do a multicolored quilt, and I think using clear thread would be the way to go. I have never used it in my longarm before. I have a terrible time with it on my domestic machine. Did you need to adjust the tension? Did you continue to use Glide in the bobbin? Any tips or tricks you can pass on? Maybe you can do a video on it. LOL. Thanks so much. I have learned so much from you and I love the Fab 5 rulers so much! (Next on my list the bungie cord line and I really want that little edge stitching ruler you have. It's always sold out when I want to order it. haha)

    Hi Michael, this one turned out awesome! I have a question for you because I couldn’t tell from the video how you finished up at the very top of the quilt in the background area. Did you echo the final baptist fans or did you keep going with each template? Thanks for sharing your process😊

    • @michael.quilts
      @michael.quilts  2 роки тому

      Hi Pam. I kept going with each tempate until I ran into the edges (no echo-ing). It was fiarly easy. The first time I used the fans as a background, I panicked and worried I would not be able to match them up, but it really is not hard if you plan it out.
      Happy Quilting!

    Thank you for doing this tutorial. I really appreciate it. I was waiting with baited breath for you to post this. Loved all of it, and Ioved the review of how to do the fans. I bought your rules and used them once so far (planning to use them again here shortly), and I just loved them. Your tips here were great. I heard you saying you could use these for curved cross hatching. Do you have a video tutorial on that as well? I'd love to watch it. (I think I''ll have another question when I get to the straight line quilting, because I'm interested in the clear thread. I'll wait until I get there, though. You may answer my question.) Thanks again!

    I veer off my template occasionally when using this ruler set, too. Found I had to unpick every once in a while with this ruler set. Not the ruler's fault. User error!

    • @michael.quilts
      @michael.quilts  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Stephie! I decided to wait and respond to this one...LOL. I always lvoe hearing from you. Never worry.
      So yes - the thread. I used Essence from the makers of Glide. To be honest - it's not my favorite thing to do. The thread is very very fine. I loosened my tension a full 2 turns on my longarm and also skipped a round on my tension discs. It produced beautiful stitches most of the time. But I did have about 5-6 thread breaks towards the end. I think it may have been coming off of the spool differently at that point and not sure if it was my fault or not.
      When using monofilament, I prefer to use a poly one (like Superior's MonoPoly). But I had the Essence already and I usually love products from Hab+Dash. I personally would not use monofilament in any projects other than wall hangings. I know this quilt will be hanging in a Legit Kits booth at a show somewhere, so it was perfect. It definiely disappered so that all you could see is the texture, but the stitches looked great when you tried to find them. Again - this is rare for me to use. My old eyes had trouble rethreading after the breaks.
      I saw your order come through. I am doing my best to keep the shop stocked. Sometimes the acrylic laser cutting team I use is backed up.
      Glad you are enjoying the video!
      Happy Quilting!
      Michael

      @@michael.quilts Thank you for this! I really appreciate all the information. You confirmed my fears about the clear thread. Maybe I'll get some of the MonoPoly and give it a try on some scrap stuff first. The quilt I want to put it on will be a wall hanging, so that may work. Or maybe I'll just have to suffer through lots of thread changes. Thank you for sharing all this info!! Yep, I got my order in and was happy to see you had the ruler I've been wanting. I also thought about the little foot minder, but I'm going to wait to see what your new ones are and maybe add it to that order. Can't wait to see what you come up with next. Thanks again!!
