I love your videos a ton man. This has been extremely helpful for someone like me who quit classic tbc at 65 and only up to just a month ago started playing again. I feel like I understand the nuances of the protection paladin now because of you. I didn't think I would like tanking let alone protection paladin tanking, but it turns out I love it lol. Thank you for making these videos. You're the most informative on the class and spec out there in my opinion!
Omg I am so hyped for tbc. some people might think the equipment looks stupid but I love the space clown look so much. my dwarf tank paladin will look so cool in this.
Honestly, it seems nice that most of the pieces here are from normal dungeons, crafting, rep no higher than revered or quests that involve normal dungeons. That seems super nice to not have to deal with too many heroics to gear up. Just a few badges for the libram and a couple drops.
If you have any time for it, it would really be amazing with a guide for tbc release items (judgement, styleens and such?) ! Thanks for all the other guides!
Hey Constin, I understand the need for a "reasonable" pre-raid BiS list, such as the one you crafted in this video and the one from a few weeks ago. However, could you also say a bit more about the actual "best" pre-raid pieces too? Because, especially if T5 isn't immediately available, there might be several days left where I already have the items you mentioned, but I already did Kara/Gruul/Mag and I still have the time to farm more heroics. Which pieces, in this case, would you recommend chasing, aside from the BoJ items ofc?
On private severs I was using Fig of the Colossus and Dab's Enigma to farm ZF. They are a super useful combo for farming low level instances for crafting mats. Id do a whole instance ZF trash pull, get them all gathered up and once my hp hit like 3-5% id hit both and watch my HP go back to full over 3-5 seconds. Maybe not for raiding or heroics but super useful aoe farming combo.
Do you have a link to a version of the Tankadin addon that actually works on TBC Classic the link in the bio none of those versions seem to function properly on the tbc classic servers
For boss fights, can you tell me why it is important to hit both defense cap (for crit immunity) and crush cap. It seems to me that if you are crush immune - meaning that you will not be hit by a non-mitigated attack - you will never be crit regardless of defense. I understand that defense also counts toward you avoidance cap, but the defense cap seem rather unimportant to me when you are avoidance capped.
@@MrFree-vj8qj avoided attacks - including blocks - cannot crit. Avoidance cap is 102.4%, so if you are crush capped you will always avoid attacks - never getting crit. This only holds on single target of course. In situations where you cannot have full uptime on your avoidance spells, you will get crit. It just does not seem as important on trash.
I can't find much info online on the viability of the Tankatronic engineering goggles, they don't seem to show up in any pre-raid BiS lists or advice I can find. I need to make a set of goggles anyway for mote farming, and it seems like they give 350 more armour, 37 more stamina, 17 more defense, 22 dodge rating than the Helm of the Righteous. Would it be viable to get the 2 piece Righteous bonus from gloves and shoulders and go with the goggles? (the loss of spellpower from the helm would be made back by the shoulders, so it looks like you would just be losing the 15 parry from the fanblade shoulders but getting 17 def, 22 dodge, 37 stam.. why am I not seeing this anywhere?)
@@SamuraiChickenFish In all honesty, worrying about the 2-piece set bonus (Saving you 15% mana for Consecration, which equals 99 mana) is not worth the trouble. Yes, you should be using the Spaulders of the Righteous, but if you are Alliance, focus on using “Dauntless Handguards” for the added mitigation. If you are Horde, yes, stick with your dungeon gloves. I’ll save you the math behind it, but here is the mitigation difference of Tankatronic Goggles with Spaulders of the Righteous compared to Fanblade Pauldrons and Helm of the Righteous: Tankatronic Goggles + Spaulders of the Righteous = 5.09% Fanblade Pauldrons + Helm of the Righteous = 3.39% So, you’re actually losing 1.70% mitigation, but only gaining 8 spell damage.
@@meta1152 Considering it’s a Pre-Raid BiS list, he’s not avoiding certain items. He’s literally using items you’ll need to run heroics to obtain, which is a heck of a lot harder to do than level up Engineering for Goggles. He just doesn’t know what’s actually BiS for Protection Paladins.
I'm so torn right now and I'd love any input. I absolutely love the gameplay and fantasy of ret pally in tbc. However, I've seen how good prot is, and would also love to get into groups fast and tank and farm; I'd like to be more of a commodity. But ret will always be my overall priority. Obviously we don't have dual spec, what would you guys recommend I do? Should I tank at the start of tbc as I get gold and gear for ret?
I'd say so. Do you got friends with whom you could level up with? I'm gonna level in a group of 5, with me being the prot pally and one of the guys being the heal pally - however, this guy really wants to play ret later on, so we decided to save him some guy during the levelling process. So, tldr, if you got a group, why not lvl as prot and then switch?
I been researching and testing spell damage tanking extensively. main tanked all of t4 content stacking spell dmg. I have also done alot of research on t5 as well. If you want we can discuss can discuss in dms. currently, i have 600 spell dmg and uncrushable with with some kara gear. I also tanked it pre kara with like 700 spell dmg with out uncrushable. It works similarly to dual wield war tanking except you have better threat than war with that amount of spell dmg and its fun.
You don't need 600 SP to tank though. That's super overkill. With 250 from gear and another 110 from flask / oil, you won't have any problems with threat at all.
@@mitchdevries6628 It's really not worth trying for that item, since it only provides 1% more total avoidance than a neck piece like Medallion of Grand Marshal Morris which is a fairly inexpensive item you can purchase from the Auction House.
My problem is I cannot access heroics until I get most bis gear from normals and get many of the reputations leveled up. I tried with the viable pre-bis listed on Wowhead, half of my equipment was from Netherstorm all gemmed and enchanted, and I got deleted in the first pulls of my first heroic.
@@doncorleone1720 It generally helps people more if you explain as to WHY they are the professions to choose. However, I would recommend those to any tank, rather than just solely Paladins. Engineering (Which you spelled incorrectly, just so you know) because of the use of Dynamite. While Paladins do have Consecration which helps with AoE threat and aggro control, it's not enough on its own. Utilizing the various options of dynamite, you can explode on threat meters and even stun the mobs affected for a short time. The next reason to pick up Engineering is for the Tankatronic Goggles which by most accounts are better than the Felsteel Helm. While it does not have 3 gem sockets, it does have 2 (One Yellow and one Meta) The Stamina still outweighs any possibility you can get to with the Felsteel Helm. It also has dodge rating (Which Serious Gaming took a long time to explain they need) AND it has hit rating. Which I don't think was mentioned in this video. The only drawback to the goggles, technically, is losing 8 defense rating. Enchanting has only two benefits for players outside of disenchanting unwanted gear from dungeons, heroics or raids. The first advantage is the ability to enchant your rings (Again, not mentioned in the video) You can enchant +12 Spell Damage (And healing) or all stats +4. This can be enchanted on both rings.
Engineering isn't for the helm, which is a 2.1 item anyway, but rather for the goblin rocket launchers, and no dynamite isn't important for paladin tanks, not often anyway.
@@Costin_Gaming It's a good trinket, no doubt, but telling someone to pick up a certain profession for a specific item is beyond idiotic.
