My son and I used to feed the local pigeons. One began to recognise us, and it would go onto my sons shoulder or arm when we bought it seeds and such. People would then ask us if we could get a pigeon on them, and take pictures etc. It was heart warming to see these birds finally get some appreciation. They're really sweet birds if you bother to treat them as more than a pest!
In a nearby town of mine they're a local pest. The literally cover people's entire balconies in poo. People have to put plastic crows on balconies to scare them away.

They dont carry as many diseases as humans. The only way I know to even get sick by a pigeon is to find a sick one, pet it and rub it in your eye. Mess around with a human and you can catch all sorts of stuff.

I second that thought! For me personally, I noticed that they had these fascinating colors on their necks thanks to a Tumblr post that appreciated them despite being normal birds. To anyone who wishes to know, the post went something like "I saw some great pigeons the other day" "These are normal pigeons" "Yea but they're great" I love this post, made me realise how beautiful their necks are.

Wing twitching can mean different things but in this video the pigeon is happy and excited so it means they want cuddles! The head bobbing is also a good sign 💕

Pigeons aren't wild animals, they're feral pets. We've bred them to be docile and completely depended on us just like what we did to dogs and cats. We need to understand that they're our friends and they're a lot better then parrots/other bird pets as in they won't get sexually frustrated when you pet their backs and can be trained. Plus their cooing is so cute

Cute! They do the wing shake thing when excited, and low to the ground while shaking them while waiting for their mate to come back. My pigeon will do this and call for me until I come over, then he jumps back up and goes back to cooing and dancing. Sometimes they stay low to the ground doing this for their mate, so I'll come over and pet him or pick him up.

I watch this video to remember my old Pigeon. He died a couple weeks back. Some stray cats somehow managed to break into our house and they ate him on the spot. I remember crying while cleaning up the mess.

Not all pigeons are this way. My girl attacks me when I have to change her water or food. Hands inside the cage are not allowed. She will ride on my shoulder and fly to me. But no pet pets! She also chases my cockatiel. I’ve seen some pretty friendly pigeons but mine is not. Still think she’s great. If I’d do it over though, I would not have a female again. The egg laying can be a problem (egg bound or not enough calcium). Plus they lay two eggs every month and all she does is sit on her nest after she started laying. She’s hyper aggressive the first week guarding eggs and it tapers off but really… not interactive as you’d hope. There are pigeon rescues that adopt out pigeons if anyone is interested. Google it.
I have never heard a pigeon coo so low and quiet like that, it sounds almost like it's purring. A very, very happy birb sound.

I have a crow,
And its similar.
Not all pigeons are this way. My girl attacks me when I have to change her water or food. Hands inside the cage are not allowed. She will ride on my shoulder and fly to me. But no pet pets! She also chases my cockatiel. I’ve seen some pretty friendly pigeons but mine is not. Still think she’s great. If I’d do it over though, I would not have a female again. The egg laying can be a problem (egg bound or not enough calcium). Plus they lay two eggs every month and all she does is sit on her nest after she started laying. She’s hyper aggressive the first week guarding eggs and it tapers off but really… not interactive as you’d hope. There are pigeon rescues that adopt out pigeons if anyone is interested. Google it.
