Nice clips from Stonewall! I usually prepare to a similar degree for long hikes or camping but I rarely even bring water when I ride XD

What do you bring on big, remote rides that I didn't mention? Let us know 😀

I was going to say emergency blanket, but you added that at the end. I'm 59 and also enjoy remote solo rides. The only thing you hvae & I don't is the Inreach.

Informative video. Overkill, maybe, however what is your comfort zone. Safety is paramount. Keep the rubber facing down. Blue skies, Jg

Thanks, John! I'm always tweaking my pack and here's where I am now. Always gotta get home!

It’s not overkill at all. I think your Wahoo connects the Strava “Beacon” feature and you family can follow up via a link. It might be a Strava paid subscription feature only but worth it in my opinion. My Garmin Edge 530 has that connected. That stand alone sat comm 2 way radio is obviously a level above and doesn’t need cellular tower connection.

Thanks! I use Strava premium and have used the beacon feature tons. Wahoo does have a tracking feature but it’s a little cumbersome. The InReach is foolproof with actual coordinates. Plus, I really like being able to communicate with family while I have zero cell coverage.

@@TrailBreaker agreed the Garmin InReach, SpotX and other Sat Comm radios are much more reliable than the STRAVA Beacon feature that uses cellular towers. You will just need to have a Sat Comm subscription.

Smart set up, I'm wondering when our phones will do the same as in reach? The question is if your physically comfortable with your load then is it too much?

Thanks! Weight is completely in the head. My 2 bikes are 2 pounds different in weight but I can’t tell when I swing a leg over them. Big Summer rides I’m haulin over 10 lbs in my pack ( I drink a LOT of water 😁) + some camera gear. The stuff I cover in this video is light in comparison and can save your ass!

What parts do you bring? I carry a chain quik-link and 2 links of chain, derailer cable. Zipties. I have rescued more rides with zipties, than any other device
