I've loved Henry for so many years after discovering him on youtube. I so appreciate these personal videos, mate. Thank you for sharing! Please come to Australia one day.
Love it! Very helpful, thanks! I play classical and this is my first lesson in boogie woogie. It’s quite easy to understand. Looking forward to part 2.
Great short lesson Henri. I love the Roland piano sounds too. I had about 100 tunes with Fats at one time..Loved everything he did. Dave Bartholomew was great tune writer. Thanks Michael.
I'm thinking on taking up piano because I'd love to play boogie woogie and this is one way I'm going to start to and start with your tutorial... Your Super talented
Initially, I was just being curious as I love your piano playing but now I’m intrigued as you make everything look a lot easier than I imagined. Anyway, this tutorial is extremely helpful. I’m tempted to buy a piano now. Thanks for a great lesson.❤️
Absolutely phenomenal! You are hands down my upmost greatest inspiration... other than Ray Manzarek. I'm so grateful for your time and willingness to teach such amazing techniques. I'm looking forward to converting this to my new 88 key Rhodes
Honestly speaking, I only became interested to learn playing when I saw you in the video "The Most Extreme Piano Skills EVER!" which wash published in October 2017, but I only came across last month this year. Your extra ordinary skills compared with your partner, I have seen days earlier some of his videos, amazed me. I am humbled by your abilities and skills. Speaking academically, I'm yet in kinder while you're already a doctorate in music. May God bless you with bountiful prosperity.
The video you mention in your comment featured Dr. K with Ben Toury - not Henri Herbert. Maybe you mixed them up because both are French (originally - Henri was raised in the UK). Ben and Henri are both technical geniuses, world-class. Dr. K is (in my opinion) a bit more accessible - his playing style is a bit less complex, maybe a wee bit more improvisational, but that makes it all the more accessible and "friendly" for the more amateur players wanting to learn something. That said, he's really talented as well, and he's been playing for many years. I'd pay good money to have his skills tomorrow...He's also got a good sense of humour.
Jacob Tolliver was my introduction into Boogie Woogie because of his hardware store video and he's local to me. Once I came across Henri Herbert, I was hooked, Big-Time. His charisma and unique key touch is very infectious. Then I started looking to see if there was somebody even better, I haven't found one yet and it’s been 3 years now. You can tap your toe to all of them, but it's the ones that have your legs rock’n uncontrollably that sets them all apart from one-another. Luca, Jacob, Johan, Jörg, Joja, Ladyva, Stephanie Trick, Arica Evlard, Brendan, Terry, Cody Lee, Suwanee, Thomas K, are very similar and structured, like their playing from sheet. But the 2 that stand out the most to “Me,” is Henri Herbert and Elena Tourbina, you can feel something rock’n inside their head flowing out their fingers. They just don't play the piano/boogie-woogie rather they’re inspired by it to create a very unique style of their own. I’d give “Anything” to have that type of ambidextrous ability, especially on keys. I own and listen to all of them but Henri to “Me” is hands down, THE BEST IN THE WORLD. I wish I could see him playing in person one day.
I've loved the piano since a kid but in my heart of heart knew I would never master it. I went Brass and Trombone. Loved it but let it lapse a long time ago despite being tutored by a classical trainer who toured the Country and I played in front of MP's, Mayors etc . I'm memorized by your playing though. amazing bud.
Love your videos, thanks! I am wondering if you can recommend the best way to hear Fats Domino playing piano solo or near solo. Most recordings he is playing and singing his hits. You say he is your favorite New Orleans player. What is the best way to hear this? Thanks
Thanks for the.comments and encouragement. News alert! NEWS ALERT! Henri is performing a solo piano concert at The Rockwood Music Hall in New York! January 13 2020 - tickets here www.eventbrite.com/e/henri-herbert-tickets-77228806439
