One of 6 small houses located inside a 19th Century villa in a peaceful neighborhood of Barcelona, owners Max and Diana removed several dividing walls of the apartment, keeping only one between the bedroom and living room, creating an open and functional space divided by custom built-in multifunctional furniture in muted yellow and gray. A unique bookshelf divides the entrance from the rest of the house, whilst a low joinery unit spanning the length of the left wall provides plenty of hidden storage and displays their collection of eclectic objects. This flows into the living room where a seamless furniture unit combines a sofa and dining table with a collapsible counter. On the opposite wall a desk is cleverly integrated into the kitchen joinery which also extends under the stairs to house the fridge, oven and laundry. The addition of an enclosed glass outdoor area, leading to a rooftop terrace, extends the living area and brings the outside into the villa all year round.

Wow.
Sigue prosperando, Matthieu.
@@Rodamedhat Same. ☹️ And completely sold out at any remotely local bookstores.
You should say how much they paid for the room they purchased and how much spent on the renovation!
This channel is a godsend
I want to buy your book, I live in Norway. Where is the best place for you if I buy? From Amazon or a local independent bookstore?
Your website says Amazon, but somehow I don’t believe you 😅
This is one is one of my favorites. The color palette, the rooftop terrace, THE AMOUNT OF PERSONALITY IN ALL THEIR AMAZING THINGS THAT THEY'VE COLLECTED. This is proof that you can still live small and don't have to be a minimalist.
The trouble is, it's not small at all LOL. I'm from London and I would consider this place to be quite generous. Medium-sized if anything.
I loved the apt, but my favorite part is the dog 🐕🥰
@@newleft2254 You make my appartment, which I call very small sound a lot better. I have 46 m2 two room appartment + 6 m2 outside balcony + extra room 11m2 + 4m2 for hanging my laundry. I guess I(M lucky. :-)
Me too
Love seeing a NON-minimalist version on Never Too Small. A home without art, collections and a little clutter would feel like living in a hospital. Very well done!
It's also a home as opposed to a soulless air bnb.
Exactly and well said. Only thing is the is the overkill of the colour White used in these homes. They are calming places but a slight pop of colour of the interiors would be nice as well.
Absolutely love this home. The colors, design layout, furniture, storage, & the rooftop terrace. Perfect.
Same 👌👌👌👌
Don't forget the scissors!
LOL loved the scissor collection, super unexpected and caught me off guard hahaha, did anyone else laugh at that?
Yes! But not so much because of the scissors! 😮
Yes, me too! 😂
This is one of my favourite designs. It feels like a lived in home, cosy and practical, while at the same time it's also very creative, colourful and stylish. I love how they've opened up the living space to make it feel so roomy. I live in a similar sized rented apartment and the space is lost to lots of narrow corridors and small rooms. I'd love to live in an apartment like this one. It feels rejuvenating. And I absolutely love their dog!
Very lovely design elements. They have two issues though: 1-study should be near the stairs and have kept the kitchen theme uninterrupted 2- they should have kept the bathroom outside of the bedroom or could have added a small toilet for guests under the stairs. It would be nice if the video-maker asks home owners what they would have changed now that they have been living in the space.
I would have put the office by the stairs, and kept everything to do with the kitchen on that one wall. The area by the stairs had much better lighting than where the office was placed. The small wall also provides a bit of privacy to whom ever is working, and allows other people to use the kitchen and living room without disturbing "työrauha". Apparently there is no translation for työrauha (it's Finnish), but työ=work rauha=peace, and I don't know how else to put it..
agreed! That's my only critique as well. As someone who loves to cook, I'd get very annoyed with having to go around a wall every time to get to the fridge - haha
I was about to comment the same thing! it would be very inefficient to have to walk aorund that wall to get to the fridge and back to the kitchen counter. I also would not put the oven and the fridge immediately next to each other, no matter how well they might be insulated, it would still warm up the fridge.
And I would have made the bedroom even smaller, maybe the bed on a little platform with storage underneath. the mosaic tiles are sadly not laid very well.
Overall - especially with that huge terrace - a lovely place!
Their decisio may have something to do with the fridge - they can get loud, and it's not the best noise to put you to sleep (their bedroom is next to the office). But otherwise I agree, the office is a bit out of place, but it's custom made for their needs. They've created such a lovely home, and that room terrace is amazing!
In Norway we would say "arbeidsro" ;-)
I would change this as well!
I will be watching this a few more times. The couple are creative not just in their home's design but also in their interior decorating. In a small space instead of eliminating things, it's like a gallery of their personality. I was surprised how many beautiful chairs they could fit in there but also their collection of scissors! I love a good pair of scissors.
"We share our home with our dog" is such a cute way of saying it. I love this one, I like that it feels lived in, and like they really do make use of the space, it doesn't feel like certain features are really a nuisance to them. I just wish they would've explained the chair on the wall😂
Chair on the wall keeps it out of the way till needed at the dining table. The Shakers did this - anything not needed at the time was put on pegs on the walls.
This is fabulous. One of the better ones. That skylight over the shower. That sofa/counter unit. ALL THAT STORAGE. The outdoor space. THE ROOFTOP GARDEN.
Love this, but I wouldn’t like my bathroom so open in my bedroom.
Loved how it showed cupboards really conceal things, makes the room cleaner looking. I’m going to have wall to wall cupboards everywhere in my next build.
I also agree with some others that the oven area and the study could have been swapped.
I love the colors! The scissors collection was kind of unexpected, it made me laugh. Amazing space!
That reveal of the scissors collection, with no follow up, really made me smile too 😄
That scene made me start laughing uncontrollably until my stomach hurt. My partner came rushing into the room to see what the hell had me laugh so hard. It just came out of nowhere! A collection of scissors...why not, lol.
The white flowers in the vase are perfect 👍🏽😆🙌🏽
Honestly, I'm not too sure about this being "small", but wow, this home has so much personality 😍 I especially like how the palette looks muted but still colorful. Definitely will be using this as an inspiration for my dream home XD
Agreed!
i guess that's how good these guys designed this home then! this video features one of the smaller spaces on this channel
@Late Notice Considering the rooftop, I think this is a pretty big space. It's considered a big home where I'm from. That, or maybe I just got used to the smaller spaces on this channel XD
It is small, but it doesnt feel small. Great design can achieve that
It's pretty small, if you only consider the inside space (and the use of a wideangle). But the outside and the terrace gives that sense of openness which makes it feel bigger. Imagine that space in an apartment complex without balcony or garden.😶
Love this home but not too sure about having a shower room right next to the bed...
I cannot believe how well-designed this apartment is. The fact that it doesn't have a bunch of contraptions that you have to fold out and then unfold throughout the day gives the space a feeling of permanence and comfort. The interior design is also gorgeous and compliments the architecture perfectly.
I lived on 30m2, never again; that being said, I think they did a beautiful job witht the floor plan, love, love! the color pallet used in the appartment. Trust me, that is a science!
Don't know about the scissors, but their (his?) collection of chairs is impressive. All the greats are represented from the bistro chair on the wall to the Rietveld and Eames chairs. And the glass patio is lovely and tastefully done, including the whopping roof terrace doubling their living space. Still both working from home, I would go nuts. So this is a way of living you have to experience to see if it is for you. I'm happily borrow their color scheme though!
Well done!
Dog is so cute most of all.
This place is quite bigger than before, but I really like this video. It has many windows so that they can feel sunlight. And bright wall colors make room larger. Sky blue and butter colors are such nice choices.
Loved this apartment! Very beautiful, but I would have moved the office desk to where the fridge and oven are placed, and would have extended the kitchen area along the whole wall.
The homeowners are quite sophisticated in their knowledge of the history of design. They have an impressive collection of designed objects, including icons from Bauhaus to Memphis.
Stunning interior space, but that terrace and the glassed in patio are chef’s kiss perfection.
Had to take another look at the flower pot on 5:03 😆 loved the house's design, the space for things that you've collected, all the green, and the fact that each house has a name (I think it gives some personality to it).
Hello Patricia
It’s the shiva vase designed by Ettore sottsass
I really like that. Such a great work. The only thing I do not like is the open bathroom. If it would be my appartment I would solve this somehow else... maybe another sliding door or whatever. But if theowners are happy with it, than its fine. And the rest is really a piece of art.
except for the bathroom, i loved this place very much! the rooftop space is stunning
Beautiful use of space. I could never imagine living in 44sqm until I watched this video. The house lacked for nothing and that rooftop terrace was magnificent (especially for Barcelona).
students living in 30qm flats 😭 or rent 12qm rooms
44sqm is a house for three. This house belongs to Hoarders.
@@karlsamohin3282 well, I am not a student anymore and I do live in 30 sqm - nothing to cry about, it is perfect space for me XD
I mean, it really is 88sqm, the terrace is perfectly usable space! They can gather lots of people there. I can hardly invite 2 people at a time to come over for dinner to a 30sqm apartment without a single balcony!
@@karlsamohin3282 I understand that but as an Aussie we actually (and I am not boasting or proud of this) have on average larger houses than the average American
I would have switched the kitchen space with the oven with the computer table, for privacy when I work. It is a well thought out design, I like that you don't have to pull any furniture out in order use it, that seems way more realistic in your every day life👌
And more natural light!
The use of the tight close quarters is fantastic with all the creative ways to bring in natural light. The rooftop terrace PHENOMENAL.
definitely one of my favourite tiny home ever. it managed to display a lot of personality without being overcluttered, but also doesn't have to resort to minimalism. loove it 🖤
omg. my favourite EVER tiny home!!! this blew me away. in love with the use of colour and the glass and the rooftop garden and EVERYTHING!!!
I love how they could fit so many things and objects and colors in such a beautiful way, without feeling cluster. They are professional
Incredible use of space and love your dog 🥰🥰
Using the desk top as a display as well is a great idea. The same idea can work with a coffee table if you have room for such things. Displaying small artifacts is really a challenge in a small space.
This is my favorite too. So comfortable to watch and to live defintely.
This is lovely. I love that they embrace colour, and that so much has been included without making the space crowded.
And the rooftop? It's a my dreams house! You demonstrate that it is not necesarry big spaces in order to build a beautiful, functional and well divided space. You can really live big in a small house. Thank you to share with us you work, it has ispired me!
Very cool and smart. The other thing that stands out is that they are not minimalist at all and the house is full of their personal touches and belongings and each have their alloted spot to flow well together.
dream home, honestly. That gorgeous rooftop!!! True luxury right there
I like so much about this well-designed space, I could go on and on! The light, the storage, the laundry room, the rooftop terrace....and that cute dog too!! ❣️
I like that the spaces are really very open, but still maintain their privacy, and the use of pastel colors and contrasts creates a lively and vibrant atmosphere, demonstrating the effectiveness of this color palette in creating welcoming and lively spaces.
love love love the color palette, especially that yellow. so gorgeous. and i love the fact that they have many things from books to trinkets being displayed, but it doesn't look cluttered
I absolutely love this: the clever design thinking outside the box making the most of every space (see the kitchen appliances), the fact they incorporated a proper working station, the large storage spaces, the roomy bedroom, the use of color, the use of materials, the feel of lightness and openness and warmth and of course the gorgeous outside spaces. This is simply perfect. Congratulations to the architects and thank you for sharing this jewel of inspiration.
I don't know what to think about this bathroom, but the rest of the house is wooooow
Wow! Not just an another white house, Brilliant colours throughout. Just loved it.
I love this so much. It's a collection of memories, but tidied up- not a sterile museum of design theories.
Incredible how it looks inside and out. And thinking this can be in Barcelona... so lucky.
Loved it. That rooftop takes this one to the next level! 😁
In a place like that i could have fresh air, greens, maybe even a veggie garden, entertainment.. etc..
Oh I love that sunny yellow accent wall and the sofa design!! Amazing~!
Well done - I love that you included comfortable furniture - my only complaint about small homes (I have one) is most people use what are essentially benches and call them couches -- you have lovely deep seating inside and out - proving it can be done! Congratulations on a design/style that is wonderfully livable and lovely.
I love this apartment! Compact, efficient and beautiful. I also like the pictures of the dog scattered throughout the apartment. 🙂
Really beautiful home. You can tell the decorations were both carefully chosen, but also carry meaning and the warm yet muted colors are a delight. That terrace garden is the perfect use of the rooftop. I'd probably grow some veggies in that space, haha.
😅😅😅
The way they distribute the spaces catches my attention, in addition to how they separate the terrace from the rest of the house, it is very good
Blue shades in floor, sofa and entrance make the space feel so peaceful.
Love to see when people actually design their houses with small details and love.
This one is special! Love the layout and especially the roof terrace
I need to watch this more times, not only beautiful and creative but also full of details. The terrace it is a complete dream, I would be crazy planting lots of "suculentas" there. I can say that this place was made with lots of love. Simply lovely and amazing. One of my favourites so far.
This one is fantastic! Such clever use of space and furniture. I love that the colours are not all monotone and that they have their special things incorporated. The rooftop terrace is just the icing on the already delicious cake!!
One of the best never too small episode that I've watched... Love the rooftop terrace...
The only thing i am sceptical about is the open bath. But this depends on the needs of the inhabitants. Beautiful space, colours, amazing rooftop, love the building. In general this space is smart and has so much character.
Beautiful! I would have put the office where the fridge is.
Really good use of light and colour makes this space feel bright and open. The bathroom is a bit controversial but with a fully closed bathroom the bedroom would end up being small and dark. Maybe they could have just fully enclosed the shower with glass (which is already a theme in the apartment), then I would say it works well. Great place for a couple to live.
I thought the shower was enclosed in glass, but it was transparent. Was going to suggest frosted glass for privacy.
Beautiful ✨
Just that bathroom. Hate open bathrooms
Finally a small apartment with a big wardrobe!! But this renovation must have been very expensive. They moved so much plumbing and that glass extension is a pretty extravagant addition!
The colour pallette, the maximal and generous feel from seeing the space created for their belongings in and among the multifunctional furniture which is shown in full use and not just curated for display, the chairs, the comfort of the settee seating inside and upstairs, the integrated embracing of the existing window treatments - this is a home that works and is a home to be proud of. A refreshing change from the style over substance approach often seen in a lot of 'modern' interpretations of small spaces. Loved it.
Love seeing real people living there with BOOKS. Lots of books! 🙂
I love the roof top terrace it is perfect place for planting, party, morning yoga, etc.
Good example, that you don’t have to be a minimalist to live in a smaller space. Intelligent and multipurpose furniture can create extra space! Really nice 👍🏻
I've come back several times to this one video, as I re-watch, I noticed how their collectible items are really divine and true to their taste and personality. all these designer items. obsessed.
Things you never want to hear from your date: "And this is where I display my collection of scissors."
I love stories like this being shared. Beauty and contentment are virtues. It makes me feel that when one know their needs and has contentment, they are usually the happiest people.
LOOOOVE the colors in contrast with the white! particularly love the baby blue floor and couch 👏🏻
Thank you for inviting us into your lovely space. Just love the light filled space and clever use of storage.
👍Much to learn from this couple !👌Ideas ready to put into practice, such as furniture that serves as a sofa and breakfast table at the same time. Olé 💃
Love the play of colours and with a rooftop garden it doesn’t feel small at all
Absolutely love this home. It has everything you need within a small footprint. The roof top terrace is a great space too.
A great use of space colour and design. Genius! For those saying about the bathroom/bedroom combo, if they’d put a wall in to separate the bedroom would be without natural light. Putting the bathroom on the other side may have been impossible due to plumbing, but also would have then had no natural light nor sufficient ventilation.
I applaud the owners.
It's been a while since a really nice & unique house came out.
Beautiful! Finally a home that feels alive and cosy. Although the colours aren't one I would choose, it looks perfect. Love the contrast and the choice.
This one is gorgeous, and with the roof terrace, they basically have a living room and dining room upstairs. Lovely.
Hello Kas
Okay scrap whatever I've said in any other comments in the past, THIS is my new favourite home I've ever seen on youtube. Obsessed with every aspect of it and would looooooove to live here myself. If I was to fault something then it's perhaps the fact that the toilet is only accessible through the bedroom (that's a personal obsession of mine for when the guests are over, I prefer the bedroom being a very personal, private space, with no through traffic). Aside from that I love the layout, the multifunctionality, the aesthetic, the rooftop terrace, literally everything about it.
Lovely. Would think to switch the extended kitchen part with the work space. But there is probably a good reason why it wasn't done that way.
This couple has a good taste. I like their collections. The bedroom with sliding door is a great idea and look so deluxe. I also really like their rooftop space.
Oh my goodness, so lovely. Oozing with character. One of my favourite spaces and pieces so far, like many other viewers and commentors.
I must say, if this space wasn't designed and presented by such an awesome and lovely couple (and NTS!) some of the items and quotes are deliciously off centre - if not slightly psycho (like all good art is)
My faves:
1:22 - The villa was built in 1936 - it belongs to a community of six small houses. They belong, to - six different prostitutes (okay this is me being immature but i didnt expect that one)
2:34 - As you enter the Villa, you are greeted by Bilma (---on the curtain).
4:58 - The table has a glass top and showcases our collection (---of scissors).
Such a beautiful mini tour of this part of Barcelona. Your space and furniture are oozing with character and culture. Thank you NTS, congrats to all involved and again - sorry if my comments are a bit immature.
Yes, I had to stop and re-play that part three times because I was certain he must be saying some other word!
That terrace makes this apartment something truly special. Even if the house is small, that terrace makes it seem double the size. And the skylight to take the humidity out was an excellent idea, because otherwise the bedroom would become too humid and invite mold issues. Your apartment is absolutely lovely, and I'm sure you're very happy there!
Absolutely love this apartment. So innovative, terrific use of colors and very artistically arrange. So much light and multiple use areas. The outdoor space is the icing on the cake. Outstanding.
One of my favorites without a doubt! I love how the design has clean lines yet still livable.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful home. It gave me tons of ideas for my parents retirement home. The bathroom inside the bedroom is clever and the layout of the small kitchen. Thanks a lot!
The SCISSOR COLLECTION is so precious!!
I absolutely love how they maximised their living space and brought in all the personality. They made such a beautiful and personal home!
Just Beautiful!! the colors, the space desing, the rooftop terrace, the dog!!!!
The neighbourhood is lit
Thanks Diana, Max & doggie Vilma!! So many great ideas! 🥰🐾🐾
Okey I LOVED this one!! Hermoso! Me ha encantado! That layout is brilliant, I even took screenshots. ❤️
Excellent. With two people, plus the outdoor area - this is all the space one needs. Well done !
THIS ONE TICKS ALL THE BOXES! Love the art work too and every single chair in the apartment including the famous one on the shelf.
Not gonna lie, I do not like the bedroom-bathroom blending.
I was thinking the same thing. If I'd own this house, I'd hate my guest to go trough my room, and as a guest I'd also hate to walk cross the bedroom.
yeah... i dont think you can get the shower hot enough without probably fogging the bedroom up
same thoughts - there's just something 'odd' seeing them blended together (the terrace tho, amazing)
Unless you plan to not have any guests ever, this is terrible. What if a friend or a sibling needs to crush on your sofa for a night and needs the toilet. They'll come in your bedroom while you're sleeping? Also, anybody is thinking the same thing: the smell. I love the rest of the house, but the bathroom situation is a deal-breaker.
@@luissorsini Toilet has a door, can be seen in the video. And if you ever have anyone come over, doubt they'd sleep in the bed given that those 2 are a couple and would already be there. Most likely to sleep on the couch/sofa.
Best part is that BEAUTIFUL BMW Z1 just strolling by @7:19 😍😍😍
Very smart reconfiguration of the space and good design. The upstairs terrace was an unexpected and wonderful surprise. Personally, I would want a little separation from the bathroom and bedroom.
I agree about toilet for night-time guests. Solution is simple. Small toilet under stairs, with washer. In daytime, toilet use in the bedroom for privacy. There was much wall space for extra storage to ceiling. My stainless steel cabinets from 1940s held my cast iron pans and very heavy stainless steel pots under them with industrial magnets. And inside it held heavy kitchen equipment, all the way up to the ceiling. Wonderful layout! For 2 people. So many possibilities.
Cheers!
I love it! Not sure about the shower
What a quiet and peaceful atmosphere! It looks very liveable; a place where I would feel very comfortable.
