    Steve I just wanted to let you know what a valuable wealth of information you are providing to new hybrid owners like myself. I just got a Venza and some of the easiest things can take me hours to figure out. Keep up the good work.

    Hey Steve, I haul cars for living the exotic ones. This car you just described in your video I needed that video so badly. This dead vehicle I couldn’t get it moved of course cause the battery was dead, and I didn’t know how to jump it. Your video helped me just now tremendously! Thank you so very much!!

    My sister drives a hybrid. As a grease monkey I like to stay away fromt them. But it turns out her battery is dead. This is all very useful information. Thank you & Godbless

    This is a brilliant video! Thank you so much for making it. You taught me some very important information about my new hybrid Corolla.
    I won't be carrying my old jumper cables with me any more. I'll just stick to carrying my battery pack jump starter.

    On the RAV4 there is a specific metal piece more towards the opposite side of the engine from the fuse box for the negative cable to be attached. It is better to keep the cables further apart to be sure you don't accidentally damage the computer in the car.

      A lot of jump boxes have very shot cables, but cables running from another car can be spread

    Hi. Great video, thank you. I have a toyota yaris (2018), I'm in the UK, and I use my car very infrequently, so when I don't use my car for a few weeks the battery can die. Could you please offer any advice around this (for people who aren't driving their car regularly), and also give some advice around the use of a battery charger (as one of the call out engineers mentioned it would be a good idea to use one). Thanks in advance.

    This happened to me after COVID and Lock Down you could not drive. My Toyota hybrid would not start getting a jump start did work but quickly died as the engine would switch off. after start I had to switch on the AC so the engine would keep running and then a good 7 mile journey fix the problem.

    I have a friend that had a new Toyota hybrid. After a month, it wouldn’t start up. The only ones in town that knew what to do with it was the Jeep dealer! I was so surprised a new Toyota wouldn’t start.

    Make sure you do not connect the black negative cable to the engine control module ( PCM).

  • @davidalenick1246

    Two key points to remember… if it’s a smart key car you have to have the remote right next to the start button when starting the car (not just anywhere in the car). Second, I’m pretty sure you have to wait for the engine to cycle before disconnecting the leads or the vehicles goes dead again. I usually press the accelerator to stimulate the engine to come on.

    • @TrainerSteveClifford
      @TrainerSteveClifford  Рік тому +5

      That trick with the key next to the start button only applies if the battery for the remote dies, not the 12 volt car battery. That's another video I need to do.

    • @stevendegreef93
      @stevendegreef93 Рік тому +5

      The car starts charging the 12V battery from the dc-dc converter connected to the main (high voltage) battery. It has nothing to do with the ice running or not. You can check that by monitoring the 12V at the cigarette lighter with a volt monitoring usb charger.

    Many thanks

      @TrainerSteveClifford  2 місяці тому +2

      @@tomgranton8754 you certainly can jump it straight to the battery but because the “boot” (trunk) has an electronic lock, you might not be able to access it. That’s why they added the post under the “bonnet” (hood).

    are the jumper cables to charge a hybrid different from a conventional jumper cable since the positive terminal in the fuse box look different from a 12 volt battery?
