I’m finding it so difficult to decide which wheel to buy. I’ve been using a Logitech G25 for around 14 years now, all the way from Gran Turismo 4, through GT5 and 6, and then onto Forza Horizon 4, putting it through a Creative Minds DriveHub so it would be compatible with the Xbox. The thought of upgrading it was never in my mind until a few weeks ago, when suddenly after an Xbox update, the shifter stopped working. The shifter is not broken, it’s simply had it’s functionality removed by the update. Finding myself in a position where I was forced to buy something to have the same experience as I’d always previously had, I went all in and bought a Thrustmaster TS-XW Servo Base, along with a TM Rally Wheel R383, a set of T-LCM pedals, and a TH8A gearstick. However, I’m returning it all because it’s absolutely atrocious and not a patch on my old G25. I’d looked at the G923 before purchasing the Thrustmaster - but after hours of research, I assumed reasonably enough that the Thrustmaster would be a massive upgrade. Oh, how wrong I was. I’ll never buy another Thrustmaster product as I’ve been absolutely staggered by how bad the TS-XW has been. But now, I’m looking once again at the G920 or G923 and wondering which one to buy. Does anyone have any experience with either of those wheels on Forza Horizon 4 on Xbox? I’m looking for something I can just plug and play without hassle, without the need to fettle with it on a computer before it’s usable.

Regarding TRUEFORCE, I would add that the driving games that are coming out are not supporting it, and of those that currently support it some are doing it poorly. For example, Automobilista 2 does not use it despite being listed, in the Snowrunner the implementation is terrible (the high frequencies are not filtered and only a hum is heard, the horn is heard more than the engine), in PC3 -even recently - the GHUB was in conflict with the game ... and that's practically 1/3 of the games that implement this feature.

If you have an extra $100 - 200 to improve realism in your sim racing, then go for the g923, but if your on a budget and you want something that gets the job done with force feedback, then go for a g29/g920 or even a g27 as they are extremely cheap and they can be bought at lots of second hand stores. Overall the g923 doesn't really provide any other game changing features besides true force, which is really quite subtle but is quite ideal for truck driving simulators, as it will provide the feeling of how challenging driving a truck can really be. Tonnes of fun especially if you're coming from playing sim with a controller and are looking to be competitive with the grid. If i keep playing i can see myself upgrading, but this is a good wheel as it is
idk if you still answer at this point but i noticed that in general even on amazon the g923 has only xbox symbols, does that mean its a pc-xbox exclusive wheel?
I don't know whether to get the G923 or G920/G29 as my first wheel. I plan on upgrading within the year if I enjoy sim racing. Aside from the lack of TrueForce support, I was wondering if the extra you pay for the G923 is worth it just for the brake upgrade or if I just buy a different spring for a G920. I need some help to say the least lol.
I'm looking at one on fb marketplace for 100 bucks, seems well worth it, however a a similar price range I can get the g920 with a shifter so now I'm not sure which to go with
everywhere I looked in my country, a g29 is 1699 RON, which is like 350 dollars, and the g923 is 1899 RON, which is like 380 dollars. There is little to no difference in price, I have tried a g29 before but the brake pedal was really bad from my experience. considering all of these, would you say that its worth it getting the g923? I really need an answer, since I am buying one of these two in 3 days from now. Thanks in advice, love your videos!
This might have been said already in the comments, but when I upgraded I did notice a smoother feel to the FFB, espcially with rapid jerking inputs which on the 920/29 felt like you were going to tear the belt off the motor. Also I've noiticed it's alot quieter. Still not fully worth the upgrade unless you plan to sell your 920/29 to offset the cost (which I did).
1000000000000% yes tbh, although it’s going to cost just under $1,000 once you get a wheel rim and pedals but considering direct drive used to cost more than $1,000 with only the wheelbase back then it’s actually quite amazing value.
@@1davejsutdave1 Apologies because you can get a full csldd setup for under 700 euro. I wouldn’t get a wheel because i already have a Fanatec csl elite with an F1 Esports rim which i will use with the CSL DD so it’s cheaper for me cuz i don’t have to buy a wheel, i just have to buy thr base. I’d honestly would be saving up for an Simucube 2 pro rather than a CSL DD which is way way more expensive but i don’t mind really, if you go Fanatec CSL DD i’d reccomend the Mclaren GT3 V2 wheel or if you drift you need to have a round wheel so the stock Fanatec P1 rim should do.

Now i have researched I'm going with the g920 over the tmx pro because the optional shifter with with logitech costs aboit £40 whereas the thrustmaster costs a ridiculous £140

hi i am a biginer and i was thinking about getting a wheel and what do you think i should get bc i think i should get theG29 but i what ted to know your opinion
G29 is a fantastic beginners wheel that won’t break the bank.
Thanks, I'll get the T300 RS
Ur channel is amazing
I bought a new g29 for around 205 dolars, the 923 was 100 dolars more expensive, the decision was easy
Where?
Best reviewer in my opinion
Good review. I just ordered the 923 as my first wheel. I wanted to try the thrustmaster 300 but they seem to be on backorder or too expensive from other sellers.
How is it going so far?
@@crashlaga good question I don't know to😎
@@alchercraft7014 Im gonna answer because i got one myself. I think its great if you have no prior experience with other wheel. I get people's complain about the gear system but for me its something i can compromise because the build quality (apart from the rotary knob) is perfect. Tonnes of fun especially if you're coming from playing sim with a controller and are looking to be competitive with the grid. If i keep playing i can see myself upgrading, but this is a good wheel as it is
@@crashlaga that's cool mannn
That's 200$ in Canada 399.99$ vs 599.99$... Major price difference... I'm leaning towards the g29
Here in the Netherlands the difference is 60€ what do you suggest
@@embr33 LMFAO I went g923... It's been great.
what wheel do you usually use in your rig?
Thrustmaster TS-XW
how can they charge so much more for so little improvments
Trying to decide between G920 (€150, used) and G923 (€250-€280, new). I wanna mainly play Dirt 2.0, Forza Motorsport, maybe F1. Happy for any advice.
so if the 923 pedals are better, can JUST those pedals be purchased and used with the g920/g29?
idk if you still answer at this point but i noticed that in general even on amazon the g923 has only xbox symbols, does that mean its a pc-xbox exclusive wheel?
I don't know whether to get the G923 or G920/G29 as my first wheel. I plan on upgrading within the year if I enjoy sim racing. Aside from the lack of TrueForce support, I was wondering if the extra you pay for the G923 is worth it just for the brake upgrade or if I just buy a different spring for a G920. I need some help to say the least lol.
I would highly recommend sticking with the G29/G920, especially if you are planning on upgrading.
G29/920
Thank you for the informative and candor review of the product. Now I know that my money is going to value rather than upgrade.
As my first racing steering wheel, which do you guys suggest?
First video ive seen explaining the true force
I'm looking at one on fb marketplace for 100 bucks, seems well worth it, however a a similar price range I can get the g920 with a shifter so now I'm not sure which to go with
Man, that's a nice wheel, but I sure wish I could still use my Driving Force GT.
So its 50 bucks for a light, a lighter pedal, and some different finish?
everywhere I looked in my country, a g29 is 1699 RON, which is like 350 dollars, and the g923 is 1899 RON, which is like 380 dollars. There is little to no difference in price, I have tried a g29 before but the brake pedal was really bad from my experience. considering all of these, would you say that its worth it getting the g923? I really need an answer, since I am buying one of these two in 3 days from now. Thanks in advice, love your videos!
Witch one did you Get, and do you like it?
can the thrustmaster t300 be used with any shifter from amazon or is it only compadible with the 250$ one made for it?
the best worth the upgrade video on youtube😃😁😄
This might have been said already in the comments, but when I upgraded I did notice a smoother feel to the FFB, espcially with rapid jerking inputs which on the 920/29 felt like you were going to tear the belt off the motor. Also I've noiticed it's alot quieter. Still not fully worth the upgrade unless you plan to sell your 920/29 to offset the cost (which I did).
I'm an Xbox boy but I found a g29 for 200$ in my country, the guy just lives 20 minute car ride away from me so I'm gonna buy it next paycheck
Does the new model only work for xbox or for both consoles?
No backwards compatibility with ps3 and no games that leverage true force make the g29 the better choice. The g29 works with PS5 too.
Didn't know that! Thanks for the comment :)
I bought a g923, should I return it and get a g920 and the shifter?
I wonder if the plastic film is still on the hub till this day?
Im lucking out today and picking up a g923 for 250 off fb market place. Comes with the shifyer too. Just hope its all legit
In my country the difference between the g29 and g923 is only 50 euro's, is it worth the extra 50 euros?
Is more difference between the g29 and g923 in SnowRunner PC game?
Great comparison...... but wrong subtitles!
I don’t have any so it Isn’t an upgrade so should I get g923 or g29
For 400 bucks you can have a G29 and Fanatec CSL pedals with LC kit
Hi OC I would appreciate it if you could help me because I found the g923 for 225 and don't know if I should get it eventually.
Is it worth going for the new Fanatec CCSL DD over a logitech?
1000000000000% yes tbh, although it’s going to cost just under $1,000 once you get a wheel rim and pedals but considering direct drive used to cost more than $1,000 with only the wheelbase back then it’s actually quite amazing value.
@@zeyzerx3722 Which wheel would you get?
@@1davejsutdave1 WRC if you want a round wheel (good all-rounder) or McLaren GT3 if you like formula-style wheels. Anything else will set you back $300+
I really don’t know wich one to buy because I like the rev light on the g29 even if it’s a small detail but when I’m like playing Forza the button on the g29 will be the one for the PlayStation.
Whats your opinion between g29 and t150 pro
On Amazon the prize difference is only 50€/$ rn. Do you think the g923 is worth the extra 50 or not?
Personally yes, I have it currently, works great
Hey, i'm thinking of buying a steering wheel to learn how to drive aside my normal practise to improve. Please can someone tell me which of those is best for me. Thanks. Oh and i also love truck simulators than racing
I got my g29 pedals shifter and the wheel for 120 euros slightly used im so happy
Good for you! 🤩
I have a question: the g29 is 270$ and g923 is 310$. Is it worth to pick up the g923?
At the end of 2022, in my country at least, the price difference isn't that big. So I better go with the G923.
I have the g923 and I like it but it’s a bit rattly sometimes.
Agreed
Logitech wheels tend to rattle a lot for whatever reason.
@@OCRacing good to know
It rattles due to it being gear driven wheel, you can’t avoid it unfortunately unless you go belt driven.
@@zeyzerx3722 yea and also when I’m not moving it it tends to start going back and forth, something I wish didn’t happen.
This is getting to me what racing wheel do i get? i want something good and reliable
I just went with the g923 just for the simple fact of its newer
@@kivincifilms3904 alright ye i am going to be doing lemonade stands till i can save up money 😂
What wheel would you recommend, my budget is £250 max. Btw I am only 12, on xbox and would play on f1 2019, 2020 and 2021. At the moment I am going towards the g920 but if anyone could recommend another option that would help
T-150 pro or G920
I think the G920 is your best bet.
Thank you both for your recommendations
T150 because of smoother FFB
Now i have researched I'm going with the g920 over the tmx pro because the optional shifter with with logitech costs aboit £40 whereas the thrustmaster costs a ridiculous £140
They don't look like a new product. This looks more like rebrand with an small upgrade so we cannot call it the same product. Frankly the price seems too high. At least without any special offer price.
Logitech does this all the time. It's quite frustrating honestly.
@@Kat-no from what i understand there isn't a big improvement in feel from the driving force and g29 era, correct? i mean i understand you cannot cut costs beyond a certain point, this feels like they are playing with us.
@@hellNo116 I feel the same way.
I wish Logitech had more competition, so they would HAVE TO innovate.
@@Kat-no it is like the free market can't solve this one :P
What to buy for first wheel
I think I'll get the G29 I don't want to pay extra 150$ to have better vibration feel and a little bit different brake pedal
In my country it’s 50$ difference is it worth it then
If i buy an add-on for g29 is it going to fit on g923?
likely
Thank you ~ may be g29 no different with g25.... besides the brake and the keypad on the wheel.
Tbh I just want a racing sim so I can figure out if I can drive or not as an autistic man with Asperger syndrome adhd and ocd. ADHD being my biggest problem/fear when it comes to driving for obvious reasons. I just wanna practice and see if it’s even possible for someone like me who’s mentally disabled can drive a car. I don’t want a racing sim that’s something right out of f1 car I just want a good steering wheel shifter and pedals and that’s compact and not over $500 and I hear good things about the g923 but I just wanna be sure before I commit to buying one that I’m getting something decent and not something that’s a pile of hot garbage and makes me and my wallet wanna cry
were you able to get one?
@@neometalx9 not yet unfortunately I would love to
What about an $80 difference. I found the g29 for $200 and the g923 for $279 on eBay
TrueForce is just forcse feedback. Witch on belt driven wheels are more powerful.
