    I definitely agree with you. Physical media will always have something digital media can never have. There is nothing more satisfying than to have something that you can hold, feel, touch, smell, see and show.

    Man I just love your enthusiasm. I could not agree more with you about getting your photos printed, either in book or for framing. I hate showing people my work on my phone, just doesn't do them justice. I recently had a lady buy three of my prints and when I took them to her another lady saw them and ordered two astro shots that I did. Can't beat I good size print.

      Thanks so much! This is an easy subject for me to be excited about, and one that I feel has so much value to us as photographers, artists and visual storytellers. Congrats on the sales too! That's awesome!

    Thanks so much for this honest review and the enthusiasm you possess for the printed page. I couldn't agree more. I am an artist looking to make a print catalog/book I could give to interior designers or design boutiques. Now you have me wanting to make a coffee table book of my art just to have for myself or new gallery representation meetings! Typically I have brought in a few small encaustic paintings to show but I love this idea. It's far less delicate to travel with too! Thank you. I appreciate your time investment for us all!

    Thanks Drew. I'm working on a coffee table book for a client and I've used Blurb in the past. This was helpful.

    Hey man, great content! This is the second video of yours I've watched, and I'm off to another.
    I've been so focused on commercial work for so long that the art side of photography was on the backburner. I've been revisiting old work and getting out to make new - and have been toying with the idea of prints and printed material. Your enthusiasm is helping give me the shove I need. So thanks!

    Thank you for your review! I was researching blurb for my first art book but wasn't sure how the magazine and the photobook looked, this clarified a lot. Cheers!

    I have done several Blurb books with 125+ pages for about $100. Blurb very often has sales with 40% off.

    Wow!! Beautiful work and I agree that it is so much more meaningful to have a physical book to look through for special memories. I just finished my first photo book for my grandson's keepsake. I am by no means a professional, but it was a lot of fun and a good experience. The next book I will create will be a memory photo book on my three day excursion that was absolutely amazing. Thanks for your short and encouraging video. I just have to upload my first book and wait for the product....on with the second!!

    Thanks for showing the magazine. Yours is the best video showing one of these. I've been concerned about the magazine quality, but now I'm more optimistic

      Glad it was helpful! I understand your hesitation, especially after having tested several online self-publishing platforms, but honestly, I think you'll be very happy with Blurb's magazine quality, and at such a low price point, it's definitely worth trying out to see if it meets your needs.

    Gorgeous! Just wondering why you didn't choose the layflat feature?

    • @drewcain
      @drewcain  2 роки тому +2

      Honestly, I've never liked lay flat books. The pages are always really thick and they don't feel (to me) as premium as a well done classic photo book. I'm sure they're great for wedding albums and stuff like that, but for me they just don't feel right. Also, doing a 100+ page book with those thick lay flat pages would be a massive final product that just doesn't serve the purpose of the book for me. I have maybe 2-3 wide panorama shots that I've chosen to span both pages with and the trade-off of having that tiny percentage of shots lay flat just doesn't justify going lay-flat.
      Primarily though, I just really don't like those thick stiff pages.

    Really enjoyed your video. Thank you. Did you consider doing a smaller or less expensive version first before spending almost $200 on the large expensive one?

    • @drewcain
      @drewcain  4 роки тому +1

      No actually. I did a bunch of research, reading and watched the only video I could find on the subject at the time and just decided to take the leap (and I think they had a promo offer at the time for 50% off or something that made the first one somewhat reasonable to do as a test). We'd tried other online publishers in the past for another business with moderate success but nobody at the time was really offering a book of this quality as a one-off. It was a lucky gamble for sure, which is why I decided to do a video on the book, so other folks would at least have a benchmark and a solid opinion when spending that kind of cash.

    • @pulper11
      @pulper11 4 роки тому

      Drew Cain thank you for your reply! I might do the magazine first and see how it goes. That way I can also check the color and exposure. I’m concerned about spending a bunch and everything turns out too dark or off color. Once again, I liked your video!

    • @drewcain
      @drewcain  4 роки тому

      Good call on the magazine first. The only thing I'd say is to keep in mind that the pages in the premium books are slightly heavier and glossier than the magazine (from what I recall), so if your color and contrast looks good in magazine form it's going to be even better in the book.

    I want to create a B&W magazine, can this be done with Blurb?

    • @drewcain
      @drewcain  3 роки тому

      Absolutely Keith, and the B&W images I've had in my books have had excellent contrast with detail in the deep blacks and lots of retention in the highlights as well.
