- Garbage from Germany in April 1996 performing "Vow" on the "Rockpalast" TV show, which has featured almost ever major rock musical act in the world since 1974.
Shirley Manson - lead vocal
Steve Marker - guitar
Duke Erikson - guitar
Butch Vig - drums
Daniel Shulman - bass
Garbage was formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1994 by producers and longtime friends Marker, Erikson and Vig. All three had enjoyed success as producers of albums during the new "grunge" movement, especially Vig who had helmed Nirvana's "Nevermind" and the Smashing Pumpkins "Siamese Dream". They recruited Edinburgh, Scotland native Manson, of the band Angelfish and previously Goodbye Mr Mackenzie, to be the lead singer. The band is best known for the hits "Stupid Girl", "#1 Crush", and "I'm Only Happy When It Rains". Manson's sultry voice and seductive lyrics backed by pulsing rock, pop, techno and trip hop beats made the band one of the most mainstream and commercially successful bands born from the alternative rock movement of the early to mid 90's. Their worldwide popularity following the release of their second album, "Version 2.0", in 1998 led them to be tapped to perform the title theme to the 1999 James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough". They have headlined several world tours and also opened for Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt and U2. The band is currently on hiatus after releasing their last album of new material in 2005 and a greatest hits album in 2007. Manson is scheduled to appear as a regular cast member on the FOX TV show "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" when it returns for it's second season in September 2008.
Man, she really gives it her all in this one. Must be personal to her. The entire band is just the best. This song is electrifying.
Damn Shirley is insanely gorgeous...
Amen to that brother!
This performance is phenomenal. She is just off the hook on this one.
I "can't stop when it comes" to her!
She goes deeper from the gut on this version. Love it!
March 2021, listening and still loving this like the first time...
Really VOW! Пока лучшее исполнение этой песни вживую из тех, что я слышал, она прямо всю душу вложила, когда пела 👍🏻
Watching Shirley Manson throw in lines from "Why'd Ya Do It?" is a great way to start the month.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN! 😍❤
I like how her voice cracks up......sounds good
God she was so stunning .. Love shirley,
Still is!
i love her and i love this version
I love the intro...no other intro like it...pure evil
I can never get enough. Love it so much.
The first time i listened that song on MTV blowed my mind, ran to récord store and bought the CD, and.Blowed my Mind the full album, until today
This is great! The rant in the end is a combination of Marianne Faithful's "why'd Ya Do it?" and Patti Smith's "Revenge"

This is one fantastic band!! See you at DTE Energy in September
Suck it down love it
Was that an engineer or guitar tech that shut off the guitar/bass pedal at the end? Naughty boy. The song and sound was still going for fucks sake. That noise will eventually stop if you wait long enough. It takes a long time.
Wow
S U P E R B E !!!!!!!!
@MrFilosifizer not sure if they called it a "break up", they were just on hiatus since 2007. They all had some time off to do their own things. Shirley embarked on a solo career and also starred in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. But they are back with new album in May, can't wait!
On bass Jason Biggs
Это что то нереальное
Yes indeed... Quite.. Rather. There's something about Shirley that reminds me of my wife Stephanie, Stephanie Manson, you've guessed it... I'm married to Charles Mansons' grandaughter :-)
Garbage drive me crazy. Amazing band, best female front woman on planet earth. Of all time. Civil and polite arguments/small debates welcome :-)
Except people who mention Chrissy Hynde, you's buggar orf :-)
