Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing your day with us. Get Christmas pics or 4th of July pics or just regular day pics with your family now. Both of my parents are gone and I miss them so terribly, but I also wish I had more pictures of me with them. I am the photographer of the family, so I've always been behind the camera. Now, I wish I'd been in front of it with them more. It's only been 4 years since your day, don't let it be 5 without getting pics with them!❤️ Jane in SC
Thanks for the reminder to photograph all of life's moments. We're definitely working to do more of that with our loved ones. Hope you're doing well in SC! :)
My wife and I have a tradition to renew our vows from time to time. The first time was in Notre Dame in Paris, and then once in my family's ancestral church in a small village in Germany where we stood beside the baptismal font that was used to baptize my Great-Great-Great Grandfather in 1792. We are trying to think where to have the next one..... but not so sure we can ever beat the first two! Oh, and we were married in the "Palace of Marriages" in a small village in the Russian Far East..... but that's a whole 'nother story!
I love your decision to elope like that! We eloped 38 years ago. I wore jeans and a red hoodie! We took the “Gamblers’s Bus” to Reno, got married, rode the bus back, in time to go to work the next morning!
how fun!!! it's so neat hearing everyone's different elopement stories. Everyone does weddings so differently but obviously we're a little biased eloping is the way to go. ;) Congrats on 38 years!!
I love the thought of eloping. When we got married, 30 yrs ago, it never crossed my mind. In hindsight, I would elope for sure. I wasn't engaged at all in planning our wedding. We just didn't care, we just wanted to be married and live our lives together. Both of us are introverts and I did not like being the centre of attention. Our end goal was being married and that we are, 30 yrs come October. Wishing you many blessed years together.
I miss the Cascades so much but I don't miss the lack of sunshine ( we live in TN now). I know the area you eloped at well and have pictures of the Chevron station buried behind a wall of snow. Your wedding day is unique and intimate. As long as it reflects your values that is what is important.
We do need to share more about that one day! It's an adventure we still love reliving and reflecting on. We can't recommend biking across America enough. We're happy to help if you ever have any questions. :)
We love your story and this is such a beautiful insight into your decision and that special day! Thanks for this beautiful video and sharing this with us :) We have been engaged for 4 years because we have not been able to make a decision on a wedding having similar feelings to you both about not being "traditional", although we have contemplated eloping multiple times. We were saving for a wedding and decided to spend it on traveling the world for a year. Best decision we've ever made together, although we're still engaged ;)
YES to saving money travel!! We took some of our wedding money and went to Thailand for two months! Such a good decision. Y'all have already had so many adventures together and seen so many places that I'm sure your wedding one day will be incredible and super meaningful. ❤
Just a thought about your parents not being in your wedding pictures. Here are my ideas or suggestions. Do you have a picture of your parents about that time four years ago, hopefully together? Photoshop them into a picture. At least you can see them at their regular age when you got married. Another idea is taking pictures of your parents from four years ago and have one set of parents on one side and one set on the other side of you and photoshop them in. OR you can to a three set of pictures with your parents in one frame, the bride and groom and then his parents in the third frame. If you don’t have pictures (like from someone else’s wedding reception or family reunion) of both sets of parents, take a current picture of both sets of parents now, photoshop you all together or take a photo now if you still have the wedding dress. Put you all together. My friend Jenny did this with a picture of her grandparents who didn’t have any wedding pics. It was amazing how real they turned out. I couldn’t tell the photoshopped version when she showed it to me. She did the photoshopping her self. It was her idea for one of their anniversaries. It was beautiful. Just thought I’d share this idea, I I know it could work. 😀
@@chrisandsara so true! We compromised in that there were 15 people packed into the judge's office. It was comical and weird at how close everyone was to our finale 💋 kiss. Cute pictures and fun memories!! That is all we can ask for, cost was our main motivator.
Awww! One of the first hikes I took my children on. Never made it to the falls because this Dad wasn't as familiar with the finer points of the mechanics of backcountry toileting for little girls as was needed to address a situation-a skill needed by the daughter for the first time that day-so we had to return to the trailhead for a change of clothes. Adventure can take many forms. Years later, I still haven't seen those falls.
Eloping has always made more sense to me than throwing a big expensive party. Less stress and you can put your money where it's most important, like towards your first house or paying off credit card bills.
i haven’t watched yet ... i’m stuck at home with COVID, but just saw the title of this and i am BAWLING!! ... I CANT WAIT TO WATCH ... I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH AND AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH ... ❤️❤️
Oh Nelson, I just saw this! I'm so sorry you caught COVID! How are you feeling?? Wish you a speedy recovery!! ❤ Kramer said to tell you a special hello and to get well soon. :)

@@chrisandsara we are!! Update: we went to Julia Falls Overlook, it was very pretty but the "hike" is very short and a decent elevation change during the short hike. Supposedly you are supposed to be able to see Julia falls, but I guess it was dry at the time.
It was a beautiful one! The west coast has so many incredible spots though. I'm sure there are some perfect spots near you in CA, too! We still want to get down there once this new van is finished. Hope you're doing well, Allison! :)
Now with Covid many couples are finding themselves eloping or getting married in different ways. I think you can always take pictures with your parents on your anniversary if you have a party or just make a point of having a nice photo done of you and your parents for memories.
My husband and I dated for 4 years, eloped, and have been married for 23 years. The only thing I regret is that I don’t have pictures of our wedding to show our daughter. Other than that, I still know it was the best decision for us!
when you were biking across america, did you happen to take the route going through Newton, Kansas? the reason I ask is that we had a coffee sandwich shop there and had a lot of bikers stop by on that route, great people, fed them well, gave them cookies and loved having them stop by
We eloped 15 years ago :) Everyone knew we were getting married, we just didn't want to be the centre of attention, and it was also cheaper! (We got married immediately after university)
That is interesting. First of all you don't look like ones who would elop. Second, I don't know what's second :D but I appreciate you letting us in your life like that.

My parents eloped too and they’ve made all of their dreams come true over 40 happy years. Marriage is a commitment, not just a party 💜 ✌️
Exactly!! We couldn't agree more. ❤

Where is that waterfall? I'm on Whidbey Island, too bad you can't do a meet and greet do to the Rona. Maybe next year.
We'd love to visit Whidbey next year! We haven't spent near enough time there. The falls are Franklin Falls at Snoqualmie Pass.

I love that!! That's such a smart decision (at least we think so but we're biased ;)). Congrats on 15 years!!
That was us! We had lived together for 4 years, and I just couldn’t think about spending all that money, to impress other people.
Beautiful! Just watched the wedding video. We’re you baptized the day you got married?
Yes! We were! We just don't really have much footage from that part of the day unfortunately. :/
Your a lucky man mate.
"yes he is." -Sara 😂
You can redo it. With family
I thought it was for real lol. Where I'm originally from, young couples actually elope when they think thier parents will not give thier blessing
I want to elope too 🧡
We highly recommend it!
What waterfall is this?
Franklin Falls near Snoqualmie Pass
