I can recommend the full bus trip to the back of Denali. In the 95 miles to the camp, and 95 miles back, without taking any real trails, we made, from the road, 18 grizzly sightings, two wolf pack sightings, as well as all the usual moose, elk, caribou, mountain goats and more. We happened upon a sunny, clear day, and could see the whole mountain until well after noon. Totally worth it!
Oh man-- you're making us ready to hit the road back to Alaska right now! That sounds like a heck of a ride! We can't wait to get back there and finally take the ride to the back one day. :)
Wow, what an amazing series of videos. My wife, daughter and I moved to Portland after living in the epicenter of the digital nomad world- Canggu, Bali- for a year. It’s great to see your Van Life. I think it makes much more sense then hopscotching by jet plane every time one’s visa expires. Good luck on the road!
Thanks so much!! Funny you should say that because we're actually taking a quick vacation to Bali this fall! Any suggestions? Thanks for following along, yall! :)
Let's Be Us You’ll definitely want to spend 1 or 2 days in Ubud...but be prepared that it’s not as serene or mystical as you may have seen. There are now huge busses with throngs of tourists that are beginning to overwhelm the center of the village. We lived in Canggu which is the new “it” spot for digital nomads, Australian surfers, and yoga lovers. Its on the coast just about 5 miles north of airport. If you are looking for more rustic, lightly treaded nature, taking a boat to the neighboring Gili islands would be perfect. Also, you’ll probably want to rent a motor scooter to get around the island. If you can practice for an hour before you get to Bali, you won’t be intimidated to venture out into traffic there.
@@RunningOtaku This is such good advice! I was just looking at airbnb's in Canggu and Ubud but didn't know what to expect. We'll definitely look into Gili Island. Thanks so much!!
Let's Be Us book a driver for a day tour in Ubud. Or even just to take you to rafting or quad biking (if you’re interested in that). The cost of our rafting and quad bike was much less than the prices advertised by the individual companies, thanks to our driver (cheaper cause he brings more people? Not sure why). Check trip advisor - that’s how we found ours and he was great.
@@nyssac2914 Oh awesome!! We were looking for something more adventurous like that so we'll definitely look into a driver and rafter. Thanks so much!! :)
I believe there is a brief period of one or two weeks in September when one is able to drive his or her own vehicle all the way to Mirror Lake. Seems to me this is just after Labor Day and before the park closes for winter around September 15. I suspect reservations are accepted upto a year in advance. We visited in late-August one year and the tundra was already in spectacular fall color. Other plus: mosquitoes have died off for the year. Maybe for your next trip.
0:01 You guys learn fast. The hall monitors will be disappointed that they didn't get to "educate" you. 1:06 I know I've said it like three times now, but your video quality is stunning this early in your channel. 5:22 That is the coolest postcard. You should do some sort of contest where you send the winner one! 6:13 If you'd been on the bus ride you would've missed that. I was scared it was going to "become interested" in your van. 16:04 Was that a bald eagle? Sara, you'll appreciate this. The first bald eagle I ever saw in the "wild" was flying over the Publix parking lot in Ooltewah. It circled for about 15 minutes. Bizarre place to find one. 17:11 oh my holy cow... looks like you guys saw plenty of wildlife on your trip Great upload!!!
1:06 Thanks so much, Valerie! That means a lot. We still have a lot to learn though. :) 5:22 We send postcards to our Patreons, but a contest is a great idea! We just may have to do that sometime soon! 16:04 A bald eagle in Ooltewah?! That's so funny!! Who would have thought?! Are you from Chattanooga, Valerie? 17:11 Oh yes, LOTS of wildlife! Alaska is as wild as they say.
We *love* Alaska. We go every year. New to van life, but not to fur babies. Would be happy to babysit for you if we can overlap our schedules. Leaving next week but 2020’s wide open! Thanks for sharing your amazing travels!
We thought about that but didn't want to spend the money on a third ticket, plus we really wanted to experience ride and a hike together. We'll definitely go back one day though!
We saw the Denali on the only day in August (2017) it was visible. They told us it wasn‘t visible for over 30 days before... but the bus ride was horrible. You drive on an unpaved road for hours
We caught a glimpse of Denali for about a grand total of 30 seconds. Sounds like yall timed it just right! Good to know about the bus ride-- we'll brace ourselves for a bumpy ride whenever we get back there one day.
There are a lot of professional dog kennels up there, because of all the dog sledding. All the dogs are chained up for safety reasons, so your do would be ok.
I got goosebumps while watching this! Awesome!
High praise right there. Thanks so much, Alicja! :)
Love all the videos. I really like the editing. It’s really good
Thank you Dan!
Great tour guys. Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s all beautiful. I hope your summer is great in PNW. ❤️Kramer
I LOVE your filming style.
Thanks, Stephanie! It's definitely a learning process. :)

loved the camera work and drone footage, keep it up!
Thanks so much David!
You can also bikepack in and camp at wonder lake! Highly recommend
Awesome video guys...looked like an awesome adventure 🏞
Yeah i agree, the vid quality is outstanding
Ya’ll got this vlog thing down for sure

oooo. Really good insight! Thanks so much, Frank! I think we'll definitely aim for August next time then.

You had the tickets. One of you could have stayed with the dog and the other done the tour.

Question, the Gilligan's Island part you used, legally used or another way?
I can’t even pronounce these names lol! Is the intro new? I like it. (First haha! Finally. I need a participation award 🥇)
Somehow I missed this comment! Yes, the intro is new, good eye!
Let's Be Us Don’t worry about it lol
The road will be closed next year at mile 43
Because of a changing climate, there is a major slide at polychrome pass

Nice video but music is too loud. Can’t hear the conversation. This is a problem with a lot of videos.
Thanks Rick. We’ve gotten better
Didn’t mean to be critical, just a note to help make a better product.

I'm thinking that you deleted today's video because it was only in 360p!
Yeah, we’re trying to figure out what went wrong with the upload. Should be back up soon! 😬
Thanks!
I’m disappointed for you!
There's always next time! It was still an amazing trip. :)
