I was under the impression that adding another person to your credit card line doesn’t affect their credit. Which one is right?

They said having too few credit cards was hurting my score... so I made a new credit card just to increase my score. They lowered even more cause they have detected that my inquiry was searched in the process of making the new credit card. My credit score dropped from 784 to 736... I hope it will go back to original state by next year around this time
