Now hunting on the ground is a lost art. These days majority of hunters use blinds, tree stands, or specialized cameras ETC… When I go hunting all I bring is binos, rifle or bow and my 5 natural senses. Now being in the military as a scout recon has taught me SLLS stop look listen smell. The way I step and the way I chose the path to take to make the least amount of noise along with paying attention to the wind has gotten me close within 10 meters. My last deer I got last year was with a bolt action 1903a4 3006 sniper rifle from ww2. I got within 7 yards.
There's nothing like hunting with a recurve or compound bow! Chasing whitetails with archery tackle is one of my favorite things ever. So many things have to ggo right in order to kill one. And Murphys law reveals itself on bow hunting like no other lol
Hunting as a kid there were 2 kinds of hunters... The people that would go out in the woods for days and weeks... And the trophy hunters that was a canned hunt for tourists... The old time hunters were feeding there family so the smaller deer would be easier to carry out longer distance and the ethics were to take a young deer from a mother with 2 fawns because it would give the herd a better chance of making it through the winter.. the trophy hunters want the big protector of the heard and with out the protector and the blood line it weakens the herd... No cattle farmer would purposely cull out all the best stock for hamburger and diminish his herd value... Same as catch and release fishing... Or commercial fishing...
I grew up gun hunting and hated bow hunters because I came across their wasted kills a couple times. I’m stoked to see the ethical change on both sides of the hunting community.
hate to say it, but in ohio Gun hunters waste 10x the amount of deer then bow hunters ever do........gun hunters are lazy and don't want to put in the work to be a successful bow hunter....so many people shoot at anything moving its sad

I was also speaking of the past. Imo both sides have made a great effort to kill clean in recent years and that's awesome for the whole hunting community.

If i had more time to practice on my bow, id hunt with it. However, i dont (and dont have the desire) so for the sake of an ethical kill as quickly as possible, i prefer to stick to a rifle. 1 shot 1 kill. Fast death.
Weirdly I've had a similar experience playing CoD Warzone. When I'm playing in a squad I don't notice as much because I'm letting my mates call the shots since I'm a relatively new player. But when I play solo I'm much more aware of enemy positioning and other things that pass my attention when I have mates to fall back on.

You never short anything....in my opinion, which means nothing just love the unity and love for fighting brothers.

I've bowhunted for 25 years. It's all about making mistakes and learning from them. It takes a lot of patience and drive to kill a mature animal.
