Hi, what do you think about foam. I did my first hood and roof with foam and it turned out in a disaster. Water pockets and the edges are not tacking. Greetings from Germany Ralph
hello friend))) what can be used instead of Johnson baby, we don’t have it in Russia now (((what other formulations are suitable? what kind of baby shampoo is possible? and why only Johnson baby is used?
Попробуй Amwey, с белой крышкой, там почитай по щелочи, что бы минимум был) 1.5 инсулинового шприца на 1.5 л балона за глаза будет, а там как по кайфу)
Great vid 👍 what can I use at Home Depot for your “scraper” would a similar paddy knife work? I have a blk rubber thingy that came with a ppf kit not sure I like it much… thanks :)
Hi. really helpful video for me to diy. Thank you. Just have one question. Is it okay to use car shampoo for slip solution? Which one do you recommend between car shampoo and J&J baby shampoo?
@@DriveProtected yeah i was continuing reading all the comments after writing mine to you and i saw that you said the hottest from the tap possible. I wish you prosperity.$$
@DriveProtected hi there I subscribe to the channel and I just commented on your fender preping video with a few questions so I just wanted to ask you those questions when u get a chance to reply on the comments on that video just wanted to lyk thanks again...trying to get clarity and get to preping appreciate it.
Could you please measure "two pumps" of J&J for us. Your slip works really well for how you use it. I want IN because what I've used has still been pretty tacky. ...and if you are going to give us an actual measurement, has there been any refinements on this older video?
Going into exact measurements has not been productive I've found. A simple rule of thumb would be, if the slip is feeling tacky, add more soap until it stops being tacky. If the slip has way too much slip feel to it, just dial back the amount of soap you're using. 2 pumps is a general rule of thumb and works very good for us in our cold Canadian climate. However, if you live in a hot and humid climate, 2 pumps more than likely won't be enough soap. Hope this helps and clears stuff up.
@DriveProtected thanks Eric hey I just sent you another message I'm trying.g to find your video on making slip solution I didn't see the link in one of the videos I was watching! BTW your videos are awesome dude best on UA-cam I'm started a project with a gr86 can you send me a link I tried going all of your videos but couldn't find it lmk or if you could just lmk the ratio by message either or would be great...one this I wish I could find is in basic measurements like one half gallon to onces of baby shampoo hate the ml..ratios to be honest and liters stuff, throwing me off kinda of but yeah pls lmk that's eric!!
@@DriveProtected okay cool, I did a bumper and half hood on my sti a few years back and think I got a small finger on the hood bc I didn’t add enough slip on the top and pushed hard, otherwise went well, now gonna do my s5 myself, so gonna prep, go going back to UA-cam to refamiliarize…. Polishing, ceramic coat and detailing is no problem, just gonna take the ppf nice and slow. I’m gonna make traditional slip and hot water tack, but I’ll buy a little bottle of gel just for those difficult spots and maybe use them as needed
Do you have video link where you mix the tack and slip??
Great videos. Thank you. What is the hardness for ceramic coating?

I would see if you can find dawn dish detergent. It works, just not as good as baby shampoo.

Great video. What ratio do you mix the soap (j&j) and water?
This has been discussed many times on this channel.
I enjoyed the video. Very helpful. Where do I find the squeegees and glove to wrap the edges?
Check amazon!
Great video which film are you using now? And how does it compare to xpel
Thanks! Using our Defense+ PPF. I love it.
Great video!! what is your tack solution? i guess i missed that part.
Tack solution is just hot water.
Great vid 👍 what can I use at Home Depot for your “scraper” would a similar paddy knife work? I have a blk rubber thingy that came with a ppf kit not sure I like it much… thanks :)
Do NOT use anything from Home Depot for your install. Use the item that came with your PPF kit.
Hi. really helpful video for me to diy. Thank you.
Just have one question. Is it okay to use car shampoo for slip solution? Which one do you recommend between car shampoo and J&J baby shampoo?
Baby shampoo for slip solution. Do not use regular car shampoo.
@@DriveProtected Okay. Thanks for the advice :)
Can ppf be installed on a vehicle that it’s been ceramic coated.
Ceramic coating has to come off prior to PPF install.
What is the process after ppf is on squeegeed and all the water is off?Do you wipe area with a towel or just let ppf area dry?
Always wipe it dry
Which software are you using for templates on your ppf kits?
We have used many kinds.
@Drive Protected so what are you using now then?
Very vague answer I would like to know also
do you thing installing with gel will help push some potential small particles of dust trapped under ppf?
No. In my opinion it makes it harder to get them out.
@@DriveProtected thank you
Hello there. You tax solution is water and alcohol? If yes, what alcohol and water content? Thanks in advance
Tack solution is just hot water. No mixture.
@@DriveProtectedhot DISTILLED water or just hot tap water?
Thank you sir.
@thebrad271 hot water. Doesn’t matter if distilled or not.

@anthonyboria5738 that’s a lot of questions to ask in one comment.

how much soap in a 32oz bottle with distilled water?
Two pumps

@@DriveProtected Understood. Since I'm doing this on my own vehicles, I only bought myself an itty-bitty travel bottle. No pumps :(
Id recommend just playing around with it to find the perfect balance.
How hot is the water you are using?
As hot as I can get out of the tap.
Whats in your tack solution
Hot water.
@@DriveProtected thanks brotha

Cool!
Does anyone know how to make gel?
Buy it. It’s simpler that way.
I like gel in deep channels but mainly use j&j.
Agreed. Gel is really good in valleys!
So basically the only disadvantage with gel is that it smells and it’s expensive, but if you’re new it’s helpful
Nailed it.
