The Earthbox Gardening System is a wonderful and productive way to grow Vegetables, Flowers, Herbs, Fruits and just about anything you can think of.
Vegetables are seasonal, so every year they have to be replanted. Here's how I do that

I have been subscriber for awhile yes I do like the channel. I have been working in one form or another all my life from a little 10 by 10 in the backyard to small acreage orange groves large to small landscape service owned that one commercial fisherman. Been in alot of land and sea and both loved and hated it. But at 70years I still want to do it and still wanna learn that is the appeal of it now I am back at where it started now but old and crippled in the backyard still keeping on till I drop. 😂
Good for you. Keep on going! I’m about to turn 72 😊
Alan, I've started taking 4' bamboo stakes and cutting them in half. I then use the shortened stakes to support my peppers and other similar sized plants. The tape gun is the perfect way to loosely attach the plant to the stake. And you just add new tape sections as they grow. I started doing this after your video's sold me on the uses of a tape gun!!! Plus if I pull the bamboo up when I pull the peppers, I can get several years use out of them.
Great idea
I'll have a video staking out tomatoes for wind protection next week
I was watching your videos today and I heard you before talk in older videos about golphers and moles. We had golphers bad so I treated the yard with a old dust called milky spore its non toxic. It wiped out the grub worms and the golphers left. It doesnt hurt earth worm at all. Now the neigbor has my gophers!
Wow... GREAT to know that, thanks!
Thank you for this! You motivated me to work on my boxes today!😊
Hahaha... glad to make you work! 👍😎
Great video. Good looking peppers.
Thanks 👍
Those heatless Habanada managed to keep the citrus flavor in the pepper without the heat of a habanero. They are a bit slow starting but they are mighty productive and fruit until frost here in zone 7. Great choice!
Yes, they ARE slow
But they are really good :)
Thanks so much, I'm about to plant nadapinos, and planned using my earthbox... great timing...
Have fun!
Good tip on the Gypsum Alan, we had issues with pepper end rot. Will be ordering that from Hoss Tools asap.
Glad to help
Great job thanks 🙏 ❤❤❤
Our pleasure!
Please don't forget to show us how to make 10-20-10 fertilizer :)
Hahaha... yes!
Hopefully this week :)
Have you ever not added the fertilizer and used a weekly feeding of water soluble like 20-20-20 instead?
Not really.
I always fertilize before or at the initial planting. But, I DO fertilize during the growing season too. I will add the water soluble fertilizer, or more granular fertilizer every month or so.
Depends on what the plants look like.
TP I watched your channel now for a fairy long time, it seems to me you have a nice piece of property there and pretty big why don't you make ur owned potting soil in the off season, lots of recipes on the internet and I believe ur property may have all the necessary ingredients to do so, no charge or cost to check it out. Cheers
Good question!
I do make my own compost (from wood chips)
I combined several ingredients a few years ago to fill my raised beds... does that count? 👍😎
@@BIGALTX Yes I remember when you did the wood chips 2 times now. But I was answering ur your question about the cost of potting soil for you it should be free because of ur situation... Just saying cheers
Since you mentioned it how are the last lot of woodchips you put down breaking down??
@@antiowarr9467 They always break down nicely
Seem to break down quicker in the fall/winter
Found it.
So you said plant tomatoes as far as you can go how many inches of soil do I need to be between my plant and bottom tray?
Would I prepare my box exactly like you just did for tomatoes?
Since I’m starting these used boxes from scratch with tomatoes I will only do 2 in a earth box then add 1 on of lime and then add the fertilizer in a hill? I have the Espoma plant tone which I think it’s a 5-3-3.
Thanks for your help.
You cannot plant as deep in an earthbox as you could if it was in the soil. So, I wouldn’t worry about getting them all that deep when you plant in an earthbox. They will be just fine.
Can the lime hurt the composting worms I make my own compost and when I go to use it worms are in there.
I don't think so.
Worms like the PH to be 6.0 to 8.0
The lime probably benefits them
Quick question, I know it doesn't pertain to the video but on your Amazon page you had jute twine, did you use for Florida weave and if so, how did it work ? Thank you
No, for the Florida weave I used bailing string
I bought 2 rolls many years ago. 20,000 feet per roll
I'll never use it up :)
@@BIGALTX alrighty, thank you sir
What is primary purpose for lime?
It raises the PH levels
The potting mix probably has about a 5.5 PH and veggies like it around 7.0
