What I love about this Roast is that no one can think of one mean thing to say about Jimmy. Others get mocked for their 20 marriages, politics, drinking, or bad attitude, but not Jimmy Stewart. A class act.
All the greats are gone and they look down upon us and laugh in heaven while we all act and have no idea what funny really is. I miss all of them. May they all rest in peace and have a great laugh at us......
t18amgr Back then they made a joke about dumb stuff, race, politics, and everyone knew it was in good fun. It's funny that the folks today who experienced no real racism are the ones whining today. the blacks who used SEPERATE restrooms, hotels and lunch counters are the ones on stage laughing. what abjoke
@@jackvanderpool3417 Miss LaWanda Page most certainly did experience her share of racist maltreatment, but she was also an intelligent woman who could distinguish the kind of Jim Crow era racism she had been subjected to earlier in life from the "all in good fun" jabs of Don Rickles. Moreover, by Don's very "faux-racist" remarks he was making ANTI-racist statements, in much the same way that viewers of ALL IN THE FAMILY could laugh at Archie Bunker and his racist ignorance and receive the very message that the show was making (by way of Archie's off-putting behavior) about how stupid it really is to judge anyone by the color of their skin.
Damn .. I can’t believe I just found this real gem !!! Never seen anyone quite like him before . Might be late but dang it I’m a fan !!! Well done Sir !!!
Jimmy Stewart is such a gentle man Don Rickles couldn't say anything but he tore up the rest of the group. He is too much Don Rickles. I love the very witty and hilarious insults. How this man thought of the things he said is beyond master mind.👏
I'd rather be "insulted" by Don Rickles than be complimented by many a modern comedian who have never amounted to a mole on the butt of old-time comics like Don and his showbiz colleagues of yesteryear.
I miss that style of comedy. Folks back then could take it for what it was... a joke. Try that now and it would be a lawsuit. At least we have footage of this great stuff. Thanks for posting.
1:16 - 1:24 W.T.F. I want to go back in time and be able to say such things and not care. Lets bring this back! jokes on stereotypes is a very effective way of comedy, lets not lose that freedom of expression!
Don, punching above his weight there, oh and at 0:55 when he said Frank just drove right over his face i was expecting Dean to say "Oh is that why your so ugly Don?"
At 2:57 there seems to be a dramatic change in camera position, audio, and Don’s delivery. Makes me wonder if the recording up to that point was a reshoot due to some technical problem before returning to the live original recording.
Both this one and the Klugman roast by Don are obviously pre-recorded. They never show him with anyone else in the same frame and it was said he did this quite often. They just reused the intro and dais shots from other episodes.
What I love about this Roast is that no one can think of one mean thing to say about Jimmy. Others get mocked for their 20 marriages, politics, drinking, or bad attitude, but not Jimmy Stewart. A class act.
Yeah. I noticed that Don's tone of voice is a lot lighter in this roast than innall the others.
Don't worry, I'm sure of he was black he'd be getting mocked for being black.
Yes, he was about as a decent man as you can get. These days, it's probably Tom Hanks that has taken his place. Zero ego.
Tom Hanks?😕
threepot he's turned into a liberal talking mouth
Rickles set the stage for many comedians mocking his quick wits and euphoric persona.
Marking my register from Nigeria. Real talent is Universal. Don't care what anybody says, this man is the best.
RIP Don Rickles you were one in a million
Just one !!!
All the greats are gone and they look down upon us and laugh in heaven while we all act and have no idea what funny really is. I miss all of them. May they all rest in peace and have a great laugh at us......
Don is very reserved and calm for him. LOL
Showing respect for Mr Stewart.
Stormy Davis yes
The low-key delivery makes it way funnier.
O...i noticed that too....i thought maybe because Don was feeling sick or something....lol..
He didn't seem his hyper-self
RIP. The last of a breed. When Comedy was taken as just that not as a violation of politically correct bullshit. Bless you Don. You were priceless.

That was amazing improv at the end. Always admired the wittiness of certain comedians.
Welcome to the World of Hostility and Abuse. LOL I love it !!!
The best and most wonderful of them all ...
I'd rather watch these roasts and all the old cartoons on UA-cam than all the political crap on UA-cam.
Lol ya
same
Political crap?
"Just wonder how long he`ll be able to stay awake", hahaha. Jimmy Stewart loved it!!! Hail to Don Rickles!!!!!!
PS and forgot to say James Stewart a war hero, great actor and lovely human being. it’s a Wonderful Life and Shenandoah my favourites.....
Watch The Cheyenne Social Club sometime.
@@juniorjohnson9509 Thank you I will…
to the comedians of today! this is how it's done
❤️❤️❤️
!!!
None of them could kiss his arse.
Comes totally unprepared and yet, still delivers the laughs!
It came from a great many years of experience in Don's part.
Damn .. I can’t believe I just found this real gem !!! Never seen anyone quite like him before . Might be late but dang it I’m a fan !!! Well done Sir !!!
Shame he's deceased now, just like his playful racist banter.
This shows what a class act Rickles was he so respected Jimmy Stewart all he said was he hoped he could stay awake then went down the table
Why is it that this guy has me crying with laughter? Hahahahaha!
Jimmy Stewart is such a gentle man Don Rickles couldn't say anything but he tore up the rest of the group. He is too much Don Rickles. I love the very witty and hilarious insults. How this man thought of the things he said is beyond master mind.👏
Don Rickels is so quick with his staged put downs and Insults, he is the only who could do it and not really offend anyone..Such a Funny Guy!
I'd rather be "insulted" by Don Rickles than be complimented by many a modern comedian who have never amounted to a mole on the butt of old-time comics like Don and his showbiz colleagues of yesteryear.
A comedian (I forgot who) actually said that when doing roasts, you must bear no ill-will because it bleeds through your material.
He roasts everyone at the table except the Man of the hour LOL!
Rickles' IQ must be 180... How does someone COME UP with funny stuff SO QUICKLY ? He is seriously brilliant.
Truly a legend Don rickles was
The 1 and only Mr. Don Rickles ❤
true talent, true class
It's amazing that he managed to improv that last Kissinger joke. I think very few people would have thought to do that
Amazing talent
Carole king
don rickles was one of a kind! no one comes close to his genius and wit
1:37 When Don tells Ruth B that her face is good but her arms need work, keeps stooping over lookin for a banana’s… Absolutely died 😂😂🤣
I miss that style of comedy. Folks back then could take it for what it was... a joke. Try that now and it would be a lawsuit. At least we have footage of this great stuff. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the comment.
Scott Vankeuren amen to that!
I agree . If we can't laugh at ourselves, we don't deserve to laugh at anything. Life is too short not laugh.
Where the fuck have you been in the last 13 years? Today's Roast's are full of venom and funny crude comments.
@@popcultureinelchuco And that's ALL they are today. Crude and tasteless.
"Someone has to dust the table.''
And she was always such a good sport about it look like she really had a good laugh God bless her
That would sadly be considered a sexist joke today. The insane world we live in.
RIP Don RIckles.
Don must have not been feeling good that night, he was usually a lot louder
And yet, even a "diminished" Don Rickles blows most modern comedians out of the water!
He didn't look well.
I remember watching this as a kid still funny
I Love Don Rickles! Who doesn't anyway?!!
Who doesn't? The "safe spacers" of today! 🙄
Some of his jokes were brutal... mixed with truth and humor.
A master of roasting!
I meet a Jimmy Stewart on a booze cruise on Boston Harbor. He was fine. And, hilarious.☘️
Imagine Don ripping the snowflake celebs these days. Would be crying
@nuff said too true. Look at the outrage when Gervais got stuck in. This is when everybody all colours could take a joke. Nowadays. Too sensitive
Too right mate
It's all I can imagine...
He DID roast today's celebs. He hasn't been dead that long!!
Dean sure loved his cue cards....but what a guy.

LEGEND, MAN!!! LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome guy
Pure comic genius!
Let it last forever!
Deano pissed again. What a guy.
As great as Dons roasts is the best bit is always the banter between Dona and Dean.
R.I.P.x
Whenever the current politics destroy my peace, I turn to Don and other comedians of his time and laugh all over again!
Wow Don.
You ripped it good!
Jimmy a true war hero like many other actors on these roasts
The only comedian in the last 60 years who has used the term “mulatto.”
you'd get arrested now for saying it LOL
He broke the Fukin mic lmaoooo
Hey who could say anything rough about mr. Stewart? 25 years in the United States Air Force! A real self made man.
There aren't enough Kissinger impressions nowadays
The producers used the same intro tape for Rickles as the jack Kligman roast.
too bad you wasn"t president but then youll have no time to do this
...?🤨
At 2:57 there seems to be a dramatic change in camera position, audio, and Don’s delivery. Makes me wonder if the recording up to that point was a reshoot due to some technical problem before returning to the live original recording.
Brigader General James Stewart, bomber commander and brave son of a gun.

Great fun, imagine this today in 2020? Never!!! So unfortunate. POLITICAL CORRECTNESS has consumed us! So sick and tired of this !!

Dean Martin must have joined the Million Cigarette Club by the age of 40
He probably could have kept going for 20 min.
I TELL YA DIS . . . I love you Champion 🏆 Mickey Australia 🇦🇺
Hey Dean mix in a water or two lol
Dean was pretty good at reading cue cards😊
How drunk is Dean Martin 😂😂
Not at all.
Funny guy
what the hell made him mellow down so much while roasting jimmy Stewart?
I don’t think he felt good that night.
I was a teen when CPO Sharkey was new.I watched it, and thought it was funny.
Same here. I didn't see the show often because I must have been watching stuff on the other channels at the time; but I always did like Don Rickles.
2:52 David Bowie
Henry Fonda
Don Rickles was the original Silky Johnson.
He roasted everyone except James Stewart.
Dean sounds a little tipsy. haha. Whoops.
Daniel Hebner Given that he was always drunk, that's hardly surprising.
***** yeah, I'm aware. Playing upon the obvious.
+Magical Crusaderfruit it was all part of the act. He was actually drinking apple juice
@@Magensson it was an act, he never drank until his son died

'Dean said the exact same intro for Don during Jack Klugman's roast?
