    Had experience with these type of mills in the power industry, but they were much larger. Biggest problem with them as we found out was keeping the trunnion oil clean and jacking ports clear. But throughput and efficiency are great. Nice addition to your mine.

  • @stormrunner0029

    Something to look into. Gyro-scope.
    A spinning object will want to orientate the axis of the spin North and South. The bearings will last longer if the axis of the spin is oriented North and South because it will minimize side thrust.
    And I’ll bet a bigger fly wheel, with a larger diameter and weight, would save some energy also.

    • @Kargoneth
      @Kargoneth 9 місяців тому

      Side thrust? North south? Does not make sense.

      Maybe Jason could put one on a big lazy Susan and test the theory.

    • @mycketvarm
      @mycketvarm 7 місяців тому

      @@Kargoneth It refers to matching the rotational axis of the ball mill to the rotational axis of the earth. It's not a big difference, but stormrunner0029 might be on to something in terms of reducing the wear on the bearings. Separately, I agree totally that a bigger flywheel could be helpful.

    @1:58 It takes more than a hand full of balls to discharge 50 to 60 mesh minus out of half inch feed stock. Legend has it that Jason has the hardest, biggest balls, and the largest, most reliable slurry discharges in the west.

    0:14 Pun intended but it REALLY takes some balls to manufacture this stuff!! .. Jason is basically making this stuff, on Spec. The hopes he's going to sell them!! .. I'm just ballparking here but there has to be at LEAST $25,000 in just raw material in this ball mill (and that's conservative pricing, not counting the motor, and gears etc) )

    I found a pile of balls like that in a wooded area when I was a kid.
    There were some tumbled down buildings, rotten timbers and the like.
    Off to one corner were the balls, all jumbled.
    Nobody knew what they were for, not even the 'old timers' recalled a mill of any kind.

    What size material usually comes off the hammer mill? Is it bigger or finer than the ball mill?

    • @lancer2204
      @lancer2204 9 місяців тому +1

      Hammer mill output depends on the size of the screen used.
      The material will remain in a hammer mill until it is fine enough to pass through the screen.

  • @cesmith777
    @cesmith777 9 місяців тому

    so is this for an end stage after running through a crusher and hammer mill?

    • @dean4939
      @dean4939 3 місяці тому

      It needs a crusher, before the any type of mill, but the ball mill is a different type of hammer mill then those you typically see in the old mining towns but serves the same purpose to get fine mesh rock dust to run thru a shaker table. The finer the mesh it is crushed the more likely you are to get all the gold out of the rock. It comes with a price though you have to determine if its worth it to crush it finer because it takes longer to process the ore to get the finer mesh.

    I know content may be more difficult to come by in winter/early spring.
    But I don't do 2-3 minute videos. The more of them I see from a channel, the less I pay attention to that channel.
    Society has enough issues with non existent attention span, and these short videos don't help that....

    • @carlwest859
      @carlwest859 9 місяців тому +2

      I combine several short videos for the variety and increased knowledge that is milled from them. To each his own.

    • @John-ir2zf
      @John-ir2zf 9 місяців тому

      @carlwest859 fair enough. I suppose if I had 10, 3 minute videos available that all were on a similar topic and conveying relevant information, I might do that too.
      But that wouldn't alleviate the other issue I have with them. the creator gets the same number of views and ad revenue, for a tenth (or less) of the work involved in a full length video, hence why many are gravitating towards that style.
      But yes, to each their own and what they prefer. I just simply don't prefer that style of information sharing or operating method.

    • @John-ir2zf
      @John-ir2zf 9 місяців тому

      @iebuilt8241 sooooo why not do like he does in EVERY other video (full length format) and use the equipment in a demonstration ?
      Had you noticed that every video he fully explains and advertises his crusher,hammer mill and shaker table ?
      And I refuse to accept that the money aspect of short form videos somehow makes the degenerate effects on society in general, a positive thing 🤷‍♂️
