Your videos are great, man. :) I started training in SFIV this year in earnest, and videos like yours are great for getting the gears turning in my head. Your footsies videos were particularly helpful for getting that part of the game to make more sense to me. Perhaps you've stated elsewhere, but will you be doing any more SFIV videos at some point? That would be great! I know there are many other videos already out there for the game, but I'd love to see character breakdowns from you (especially for Sakura, who I am currently maining). I hope you'll consider it!
juicebox, you should've added triple plinking to the video as well. for your next video, how about showing folks piano/sliding techniques? as example character blanka would be great, since he's the one mostly accused on turbo usage.
So p linking is an input that you hit 2 buttons at the same time and the game will be able to land the perfect combination. I mean as you had pressed the next punch or kick in the right frame.
cr. jab jab mp from balrog is soooooooo freaking impossible! i mean i could make but just sometimes... could you please explain me how exactly i´d do the p-link?
you could check the inputs to see if the stick is default. dont have to open it up, but it would still eat a ton of time at a tourney....but i guess button checks in training mode would work
I should clarify I'm not accusing Juice of having one opinion or other, I'm addressing people who are adamantly against plinking 2 buttons but emphatically for plinking the other 4 buttons.
pdxballer503 Yes. Have you tried it yet? If you have to turn your stick around in order to get it to work then do so in order to see that it does work. Then practice doing it while your stick is in its usual position.
Wow, why are gaming terms so different!? I've been doing this in WoW for years then started doing this in Marvel. We called it "clipping" in WoW so I just called it that. Someone thought I didn't know what I was talking about then when I beat them, they changed it up. It's basically just pushing one button right after the other. Best example is just "snap" your thumb across square to triangle (ps4).
Why does he say "2 opportunitinies" to do the normal? I mean there is a window of frames for a move to go off, hwere in that window does hte plink come in? I hear the "doesn't give you an extra frame" however that may be literally true, but in effect, do you not get an extra frame or some such consequitive behavior?
Imagine when you want to combo 2 light punches. If you press the second light punch too early, it wont come out. If you time it properly yes it will come it, but the P-Link gives you more lenience on when you need to do that second light punch. For 1f links where you need to be extremely precise on the timing, the P-Link makes it so that the punch comes out on time if you press it on time, or if the first punch is too early the second punch will come out on time if the P-Linked is timed properly. It basically gives you 2 opportunities for the punches to come out.
I find it weird how people can be offended by S-linking or B-linking, but think regular P-linking is fine. As far as I'm concerned, I don't like priority linking of any kind (Hell, I don't even like kara cancels when you get down to it, but that's another story...), but if P-linking is going to be allowed in tournaments and even ENCOURAGED by the scene as being a useful tool for hitting your combos, then I would honestly never even think of taking issue with the use of select/back to plink LP and LK as well. Why are LP and LK "forbidden" in the plinking game, while every other button is fair game? For me, it's either one or the other. Either you remove all plinking from the system, or you let people plink to their hearts' content in any way that they can rig it. You can say plinking is "cheating" or cheap, or you can say it's smart, but there's really no grounds for saying that plinking 4 of your buttons is smart and plinking the other 2 is wrong. Anyway, great video as always.
Very informative video, I was looking into this matter the other day, thank you. Maybe for your next video you could explain option select, I'm having a very hard time trying to understand this without the proper explanation and demonstration. Thank you once again.
Watching in 2024? Yeah SF 4 was tailor made for arcade stick. Stick's last hurrah and hitbox's dawn. Thank god for SF 5 and 6. Too much random shit to keep up with.
This is the best explanation I've ever seen.
You have completely explained my misconception of plinking. Thank you so much!! Now I gotta rewire my brain
Great video, I looked this up once but that was long ago and I forgot it but I don't think I will now after this video. Easy to follow and concise.

8 years later you've helped me

So Guile's plink from LP to LP+MP doesn't work... What if you plink LP to MP+HP? Would you get standing HP or standing MP?
Somebody tell me look plinking to do some combos of sfiv

plinking on a controller sucks. it look easyier on a stick :(
Whats the software you use to show the arcade stick and buttons. And the music?
I should clarify I'm not accusing Juice of having one opinion or other, I'm addressing people who are adamantly against plinking 2 buttons but emphatically for plinking the other 4 buttons.
So, if I understand, a p-link is indistinguishable from a normal chain on screen, it just adds an extra opportunity to get the chain?
Just for clarification, a plink isn't a "chain", it's a link. Chains are a totally different thing.
I still do not understand, is plinking putting the button on 2 different frames at the same time ? Is that what he means by more opportunity?
Woah wait, hold up, Personal Action set to NONE - Changes Input Priority Mechanics!? - This may be explained later in the video, but how so?
"eh eh eh reh!"
Alguien que hable español me lo pueda explicar para usarlos en los trials
Can I get a list of all the top players who plink?
Yeah....all of them. Lol but seriously they all do it
But surely not Daigo, he is too pure. Kappa.
Thanks !
Hi Juicebox FGC, The Jab button can be P-Linked without modding a stick or controller.
plink cr.jab into cr tech throw yeah?
pdxballer503 Yes. Have you tried it yet? If you have to turn your stick around in order to get it to work then do so in order to see that it does work. Then practice doing it while your stick is in its usual position.
Are they removing plinking from sf5?
taintedtechnique Yep, no plinking in SFV
That's actually false. Plinking is still in SF5.
@@atmaillumina No, it’s not. SFV links are so easy to land.
@@iishyxvietxboyii
How does the ease of execution negate the existence of a technique, my guy?
@@UltimateBallaPOM Capcom took away Plinking in SF5 plus SF5 has no 1-frame links. Don’t need to plink.
nice video once again!!
All Ibuki Pro users have their Stick rewired (Sako included).
should i plink in sfv?
PorraCaralho no why should. Sfv has a lot of choices of combos that have 3 frames linking. It's easier than sf iv linking.

I have to learn a difficult technique to learn a difficult Tech
big thanks for the explanation :) !!!

Yeah please do it on controller lol.
Smug does it on pad. I think he uses the claw method

Oh dude stop playing SFIV hahaha, come back to KOF, there are still plenty of chars for You to drive Us in!!! ***Very interesting video though :D
This game combo mechanics is just stupid. That’s why I never play this garbage. SFV is the best
Hope Capcom don't make any more plinking for sf 5 because new player won't get beat to easy.
