And still, you forgot to mentions the most important things that Alexander teach us with hes 3 final wishes on death !
    1. His physicians alone must" carry his coffin.
    2. Secondly, he desire that the coffin to be carried to the grave, and on the the path leading to the graveyard be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which he collected in treasury.
    3. Third and last wish is that both of hes hands be kept dangling out of coffin.
When he was asked why this strange request's he answer:
"I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no doctor on this earth can really cure any body. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.
The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the path to the graveyard is to tell People that not even a fraction of gold will come with me. I spent all my life Greed of Power, earning riches but cannot take anything with me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.
About my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty handed I go out of this world".

Historical facts = Strabo (63 BC) tells us that Illyrians, Thracians, Bottians and Thesprotes shared the Macedonian territory (Tribes of Pelasgian origin 🇦🇱 ).
      Source: (Strabo, VII, Frg .n°.11)
The Macedonians have just propagated the Hellenic culture and have adopted it little by little ...
The ancient authors called the Macedonians Barbaros/non-Greeks...
      For example the great Thucydides...
Example : Thucydides (II, 80- IV, 126) who qualified of Barbaros (not Greek) the MACEDONIANS, Thesprotes, Molosses, Châones Atintanes, Paravaiens, Orestiens etc!
Moreover it is not the only one, far from there ....

      Historical facts
      =
The family of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great.
This last, according to the data, had a Macedonian father, but not his mother.
She was called Eurydice and came from the tribe of "Lyncestides".
Who was the grandmother on the side of the father of Alexander the Great?
The mother of Philip is the daughter of the daughter
Of Arrhabaeus, daughter of king Sirras, says Strabo.
Plutarch is very detailed on this subject.
He insists that although Eurydice is Illyrian (🇦🇱) and barbarian in every sense of the word, she was educated to help children.
He says very clearly that she is Illyrian, and barbaric in every way.
      (Plutarch, De liberis educandis. p.69)
Lyncestides from where came the mother of Philip II, were a tribe which extended not far from the lake of Ohrid, somewhere in the area of Manastir where the ruins of one of their most important cities are today.
(Illyrian, no doubt. It is the last province that has a border with Macedonia)
As for whether it was an Illyrian tribe, this is clearly proven by ancient historians and geographers, including Titus Livy, Strabo, as well as Pliny who lists many in detail in the fourth book of the collection of 37 works entitled "Natural History", not to mention the great ancient geographer "Claudius Ptolemy" who also classifies the Lyncestrae among the Illyrian tribes .
And the later authors have the same attitude since on several occasions, they mention Eurydice, the mother of Philip II and the grandmother of Alexander, as being illyrian etc...
Here what Demosthenes says to us about Philip II of Macedonia (father of Alexander the Great):
      - "And yet, with regard to Philip and his conduct, they
don't feel that way, although he's not Greek and he's not related to the Greeks at all..."
      (The third Filipino)
      By Demosthenes (384-322 BC)

      Historical facts =
Olympias, the mother of Alexander the Great.
But who was this woman who is said to have astonished the Macedonian king with her beauty ?
I will write based only on facts, that is, on the quotes of famous ancient authors, mainly Greek.
( For me there is one thing in history, which with the facts are not said ... )
According to Plutarch, Alexander was a descendant of Ajax through his father Neoptolemos and this is accepted without discussion.
According to Justin, Philip married Olympias, daughter of Neoptolemos, king of the Molosses.
All the authors thus agree on the fact that Alexander the Great was the grandson of a Molossian.
For those who do not know this tribe (the Molossians), who were they, what territory did they occupy and how were they considered by the ancient authors ?
Let us stop for a moment to know more about the tribe of the Molossians from which the mother of Alexander the Great came.
To make it simple, the tribe of Molossians is in Epirus somewhere in the region of Chamerie on the back of Thesprotians who dominated the coastal part.
In addition to this, the Kaons who were in the south of present-day Albania and who constituted three of the great tribes of Epirus.
Historically, tribes like the Molossians or others who composed Epirus like the Kaons, the Thesprotians, the Paraue, the Antintans and others, are historically linked to the Illyrian (🇦🇱) culture or to a part of it.
As Thucydides tells us about the events of the Peloponnesian War that involved both actually in reality Illyrians and Illyria itself, these tribes were commonly considered barbarian (non-Greek) tribes.
Thucydides: - "Among the barbarians there were about 1,000 Kaons who ruled without a king. Along with the Kaons, the Thesprotians also participated and were also ruled without a king. There were also the MOLOSSIANS, the Atintants and the Paraues.
( HISTORY OF THE PELOPONNESIAN WAR )
All these tribes, mentioned by the historian of Athenian origin Thucydides for their participation in the famous Peloponnesian war in the 5th century B.C., are considered as barbarians, therefore not Greek!
      ( Thucydides II, 80- IV, 126 )
The Kaons, the Thesprotians of Chamerie, the Arintans and the Parauets constitute the backbone of what one called Epirus.
Among them are of course the Molossians where are the roots of the family of the mother of Alexander the Great !
And Thucydides is not the only source which defines the Epirotes as non-Greeks.
      There are many others!
According to the encyclopedia Basic Antiquity, composed of 86 volumes... Pauly Wissowa the Real "Encyclopedia Alterumswissenschaft" says that the Epirotes are of Illyrian origin 🇦🇱 and have strong links with the population of southern Italy!
More concise on the issue, the only Nobel Prize in history 🎓 is none other than Theodor Mommsen author of the cycle "Corpus of Antiquity inscriptions" which says that: - "the brave Epirotes, the Albanians 🇦🇱 of antiquity supported with traditional loyalty the young and brave Pyrrhus or "the Eagle" as they called him " .
Let us point out on this subject that the Albanians name themselves "Shqiptar", that is to say "sons or children of the eagle".
The soldiers of Pyrrhus (3rd century BC / Epirote King), called their King "the Eagle" and that the latter retroqued them one day that they were his "children", so the Albanians are the children of the Eagle ...
      "Shqiptar = child of the Eagle .... " .
(Pyrrhus was the cousin of Alexander the Great, of the Molossian tribe and himself an ambitious conqueror, Pyrrhus is one of the most formidable adversaries of the early days of ancient Rome).
Lorenzo Braccesi (Professor of Greek History at the University of Venice, Italy, in 1986) tells us:
      - "Olympias was originally from Epirus, on the part of the father who was king of Epirus, on the part of the mother also and that Illyrian blood 🇦🇱 circulated in the family, there is no doubt. "
      ( 9,01- 9,15 . The true story of Alexander the great ... - Gjurmë Shqiptare )
That the Epirotes are or are not Illyrians is a discussion that, from an archaeological point of view, is resolved.
The Epirotes and the Illyrians have the same culture, if we consider the Iron Age, the use of tombs, fortifications with several rows of walls, their material culture, the shape of the pots or the ornaments which are identical to those of Korça (current Albania) and religion.
Not only ancient authors like Thucydides, Strabo and others have called the Epirotic tribes barbarians (non-Greek) but also later serious publications based on documents and archaeological findings point out the same thing.
The Molosses, were one of the Illyrian tribes of Epirus from where came the mother of Alexander the Great Olympias daughter of the king and the sister .
The Molosses, were one of the Illyrian tribes of Epirus from where came the mother of Alexander the Great Olympias daughter of the king and sister of another well known Illyrian prince "Alexander the Molossus".
I believe that all or part of the strong character of Alexander comes exactly from his mother, from the house that also gave birth to Pyrrhus.
The powerful role of women in Illyrian society has been documented by many authors, including those who today identify themselves as Greeks, such as Athenaeus and Theompope.
Olympias' influence on her son Alexander was so great.
She believed that her son had divine blood and that he was born to rule the greatest kingdom of all time.
But the mother's family was not the only Illyrian family to which Alexander was affiliated, his link with the Illyrians was stronger than that!

*Claiming Alexandros was Macedonian and not Greek is like saying that Leonidas was Spartan and not Greek, Pericles was Athenian and not Greek or that Oedipus was Corinthian and not Greek...*
Alexandros, whose name has an etymological meaning in both ancient and common modern Greek (Protector of men), was undoubtedly one of the Greatest Greeks.

The only thing I would say is that this is a point made from a modern standpoint where we think of ourselves as coming from a country and not a city in particular like we would say today that we are Greek or French but in Ancient Greece there wasn’t that clear of a unification especially with all the wars between cities happening in the Greek world so it is not a mistake to say that Leonidas was Spartan and Pericles was Athenian more than they were Greek as there is no proof that they considered themselves one people except when it came to comparing themselves to barbarians.

@@cindy11051995 You make a huge mistake!!! Don't you know about the Ancient Olympic Games??? In these games, only greeks could take part. Also, a ancestor of Alexandre had won a hold medal in Olympic games and a lot of other ancestors of Alexandre the Great, and ever if I rember well Alexandre had. These are officially known because of natural proofs in stones (I mean names written in special stones). So they may were different City-State, but they were all greeks, although there were a lot of civil conflicts. But when it was necessary, they were united in order to defemd an enemy's attack as Persian's attack, or the war that greks from all the Greece took part in Troy. And lastly, in Alexandre's war campaign against Persian, they took part greek from everywere except Spartans for some reasons. So, they were all greeks, Philipe the 2nd was greek, Alexandre the Great was greek, MACEDONIA was and is GREEK!!!! 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷

It is very sad reading the comments that people are making based on zero historical facts and purely based on emotion and feeling. Macedon was an ancient city state in Greece. The location of Ancient Macedon is currently in modern day Greece. Alexander the Great was born in the Greek city state of Macedon. The people of Macedon spoke Greek and were culturally Greek, in fact they referred to themselves as Greeks. Alexander the Great was taught by the most well known Greek philosopher Aristotle. He wanted to unite the Greek City states under his rule, which he did. He then wanted to spread the Hellenic (which means Greek) culture to the East, which he did. He spoke Greek, lived in Ancient Greece, the Ancient ruins of Macedon are in Greece today and he famously stated that he wanted to spread the Hellenic culture to the East. The Slavic people have no relevance to his life in anyway. I am not sure how anyone can claim he was anything but Greek. These are the historical facts. Some of the comments on this video are so historical inaccurate its unbelievable and sad. Saying something doesn't make it true. Educate yourselves.

One of the gratest fact for Alexandre the Great, the well known Greek personality, was his commands for something ehich would happen after his death. Firstly, he said to his nationals that in his funeral, he would be transported by his doctors in order to show that the medicine couldn't save his life (so humans can't prevent the will of god), he said that he wants to be put with his hands facing to the heaven and empty, ehich shows that he doesn't take anything to the other life, and lastly he said that he wants his nationals to through his money and his riches to the air and been scattered to the people to show that money stay in earth. All these 3 commands really happened in his funeral and they are really important as they teach us a lot. Sorry for my bad english. I hope someone knows what I say and he can say that in english better than me. 🇬🇷

Defeating Greek satraps in battle, are not the same as defeating Alexander the great. Maurya was a great king in India but I doubt he would've been able to sack Alexander's Army/phalanx. They only left India because Alexander's troops were done war mongering. Lol. They were far from pussies like the gentleman said above, they were just tired of marching and fighting, thats all. If he did not respect the wishes of his soldiers, I think you'd be speaking differently of him. He was by far, the most brilliant field General the world has ever seen. He literally had no weaknesses on the battlefield. Militarys still use his tactics, thousands of years later. Lol. He is by far, the baddest mf that ever walked the planet, imo. Maurya was brilliant too, but I highly doubt he could take Alexander head on, in a war and defeat him..

I am sitting in my chair for the last 2 hours watching the comment section arguing about if Alexander was Greek or not and if Macedonia was a part of Greece. Please let me answer those questions. Alexander was born in Pella July 356 B.C. He was one of the greatest conqueror of all times due to his military expertise and ideas. He created sarisa , a 6 meter spear, which gave him the advantage of fighting from a distance. One of the reasons why he is Greek is that he managed to enter the Olympics, something that only Greeks were able to do. He house , the House of Argead , was founded by the Argead dynasty , a dynasty from Thessalia. It is said the they moved from Thessalia because because the Dorians, another dynasty, kicked them of their territories. Then they moved norther and settled down to Macedonia creating a big ''clan''. If Fillips the second was not from then why the great orator Isocrates believed that he could bring the Panhellenic Idea to life ? He wouldn't if he wasn't. Which brings us to the conclusion that not only Alexander and his father were Greeks but all of the Macedonians who lived there also. And if some steal don't believe all of that OPEN A BOOK DAMMIT AND STOP PLAYING THE SMART ONE. Thank you .

Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander succeeded his father, Philip II, to the throne at the age of twenty. He spent most of his ruling years on an unprecedented military campaign through Asia and northeast Africa, and by the age of thirty he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from Greece to Egypt into northwest India and modern-day Pakistan. He was undefeated in battle and is widely considered one of history's most successful military commanders.

Just clear some confusion for people who don't know. Alexander the Great was Macedonian and in ancient Macedonia just like Athens and Sparta and Crete, they spoke their respective Greek dialect, followed the Greek gods and had their traditions.
Now, in modern time, the people who call their nation Macedonia are slavic tribes that settled around Greece and the real Macedonia(in Greece), between 500 to 900 BC.. They have nothing to do with Alexander the Great or the ancient empire of Macedonia. They are just confused people because when they came in and settled the Greeks in the area taught them about their history and now thousands of years later they think it's theirs.

The name of the horse is not a random weird name ΒΟΥΚΕΦΑΛΑΣ means cattle head, VuKefalas. We still use the word vous, for cows and cattle. Kefali is the head in Greek.
So Alexander named his horse CowHead. It means they had humour, they were normal humans and apparently the horse was stubborn as a mule.
To a Slav like the people in Skopje, or to an Albanian, those names have no meaning, as for the English speakers and in general the non Greek speakers.
But ask any professor who teach Greek and will tell you the meaning of the name.
    Here is the etymology
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucephalus
Everything about Macedonian is Greek, even the name of their animals!
How can you people dispute those simple basic knowledge just to make happy the Albanian Slavs in Skopje? Why Alexander didnt give a Slavic name like Igor, Slavo, Vladimir, Boris, etc?
Why he named his horse in Greek?
    Simple logical questions.
Its like the President of the USA to name his dog Yokohama, or Shinichi, japanese names. This is the cultural difference between the slavs and the Greeks.
We dont understand each other at all, except few words like mama, papa.

Alexander --> Alexandros (transliterated from the Ancient Greek Αλέξανδρος). A compound word that consists from "Αλέξω" (transliterated as Alexo, meaning "to repel") and "Ανδρος" (transliterated as Andros, from the word Andras meaning "man"). So Alexandros --> the one who repels men. Each and every archeological evidence that contains his name is written in Ancient Greek. Absolutely nothing to do with the Slavic language or any of its dialects.
I feel sorry for Skopjans. Since 1912 or so, they have spread an immense propaganda all over the globe, in their desperate effort to usurp the name, and thus the history and identity of Macedonia. It must be extremely painful to hate your own identity and try to steal that of someone else. However, history is not written with lies, such as the ones that are found in their 500+ falsified books with which they have infested the libraries in various Universities (particularly in the US) or in their ridiculous claims that have zero historical, archeological and linguistic evidence. For each and every person who has some degree of intelligence, has the ability to do some research and come up with an answer.
It must be really hard to be born and grow up in a country that has lied to you extensively to such a degree that you are literally incapable of seeing the truth, i.e. the abundance of serious, academic research, true to the spirit of knowledge that has been conducted regarding Macedonia and Alexander the Great. I think it's like those poor guys that live in North Korea that have been brain washed to such an extent that a different reality is simply unfathomable. Only after they manage to escape their slavery do they realize the nature of their nightmare. As for the Greeks, modern or ancient ones.. Greeks were never racists, so our reaction has nothing to do with extreme right-wing political notions. Nor do we keep the light of the western civilization solely for us. It was, is, and forever will be free for all people who have eyes to see what it's all about. You are free to do so as well.

Here he talks about a unified peaceful civilized world where people are measured by the virtue and not their race ethnicity or background. If you haven't seen it I encourage you to look it up. QUICK NOTES if you don't want to be bored by the video:
10> He had two different color eyes.
9> He had a noble horse that he tamed
8> He named 70 cities after himself (and 1 after his horse)
7> He was tutored by Aristotle for 3 years, who gave him a copy of the Iliad by Homer
6> He had a traditional marriage with Roxane and had children
5> He and his mother may have been in a plot to kill his father
4> "Alexander could cut to the heart of the matter" He cut through "The Gordian Knot"
3> He brought down the Persian Empire and was a heavy drinker
2> He never lost a battle
    1> His death was mysterious
Not Mentioned: Yes, Greek Culture influenced Western Civilization,... until Jewish Culture spread through the Roman Empire. Ultimately, Modern Western Civilization was more influenced by Jewish Culture than Greek. Our lifestyles and mores are de facto Jewish; our Greek and Roman-ish conventions are de jure, such as Sunday (for the Sun) Monday (for the Moon) etc..

They made the whole world call their country 'Macedonia', some slavs. They don't even know what name macedonia means. and it's actually Makedonia(ancient hellenic word) as all makedonian names,Alexander, for example, or Philipus ect. They were a tribe from Argus(south Greece) that migrated to north greece and makedonian means 'tall man'. I don't need anyone to tell me that Makedonians were Hellenes, I know History and history tells me that they were Greeks. People from Sparta were called Spartans, people of Athens Athenians, people of Korinthos Korinthians and people of Makedonia were called Makedons. Some of us Indians are overrating Porus. First of all, Alexander won the battle of hydaspes, he just let Porus keep India because of his bravery. Next:
Alexander conquered much more land then Porus ever did. He conquered Egypt, Mesopotamia, Afganistan, India and more. He Defeated PERSIA before he was even 30 years old. The persians are no joke, it took about 7,000 Greek soldiers to defeat them plus they were extremely large because they would always replace their dead with a new one, so defeating them in your late 20s is no small feat. Now name anything Porus conquered that could stand a candle to the persians.

While kings were looting cities and raping women of the cities they conquered, he condemned prostitution and the sexual assault of women during wars. He gave high positions in his empire to deserving women. He condemned corruption and tomb looting. He respected other cultures. He adapted the cultures of the places he was staying in. He stripped himself of money and used it all for his people. Yes, he had his flaws, but Alexander was indeed great. He was far better than most of the kings during his time, in terms of ethics.

      By Demosthenes (384-322 BC).

      "Shqiptar = child of the Eagle .... " .
But the mother's family was not the only Illyrian family to which Alexander was affiliated, his link with the Illyrians was stronger than that!.

Robert b b Ancient Macedonia was a Hellenic kingdom, such as Epirus or Cyrene (and technically Sparta, with two kings ruling simultaneously).
Alexander (and the Macedonians) spoke Greek (a Doric dialect of Greek), wrote in Greek, worshipped the same pantheon of Gods and self identified as Greek.
Because Macedon(ia) was a kingdom, it was treated as a lesser state by the city states to its south (Macedon was more of Homeric kingdom, since abandoned by the southern city states), but the founders originated from Argos in the Peloponnese.
The key thing here is to not confuse Ancient Macedonia with the modern Republic of Macedonia. The Republic of Macedonia is a modern Slavic state, which has adopted the name from the region of Macedonia (with the first Slavic reference to this in the early 20th century); it is also north of Ancient Macedonia, lying within the Paeonian and Illyrian regions of the Ancient Balkans.
The northern Greek region of Macedonia corresponds approximately to the Ancient Kingdom of Macedonia.

There are a lot of people arguing over weather Macedonia was Greek or not:
The Greek city states like Sparta, Athens, Korith, Argos ect all viewed Macedonia as semi-barbarian and less civilised than the Greeks in the south and in the Peloponnesus. This is due to the fact that Macedonians had some different customs and that their nation was comprised of woodland and mountains which made them seem more mysterious. However the Macedonians worshiped Greek Gods, had Greek names, ate Greek Food and practiced Greek architecture.

Most people that claim macedonia is not Greek dont realise that back then greece was divided into small city states (you could consider them Kingdoms) simillar to the german states such as bavaria prussia etc. Saying macedonia isnt a part of greece is like saying bavaria isnt a part of germany.

Yes, he was a macedonian. There is no doubt. But Greek-Macedonian. Like every Texan, Californian is an American, so every Macedonian is Greek. The country called in modern days "Macedonia" is a country bunch of bulgarian-spreaking slavs and with 30% albanians at its population.

Tommy Wagner Macedonians were Greek spekers, they were Doric Greeks they spoke Doric Greek. Its written in stone in their ancient capital of Pella. That's why Alexander the first stated *_"I (Alexander l) am by ancient descent...GREEK"_*, and that's why Alexander the Great referred to himself as *_"I (Alexander) the Hellene"_* In fact the Macedonians drove the Illyrians out of northern Greece and back into Yugoslavia'

    Fun fact:
Alexander was once judging a male's dance competition. When the winner walked across the stage in front of the entire audience to sit with Alexander, the audience actually began to shout KISS! KISS!! KISS!!!, Because the winner was very hot, so they did kiss in front of the audience, and Alexander invited back to his palace.

You got everything right except the claim that Alexander invited him back, and that he was the judge. He wasn’t the judge- he just happened to be there, and he didn’t invite him back. Also, the Macedonians weren’t shipping them- Alexander was the Persian king, and it was an honour to be kissed by the king for the Persians. Again, it was not that the dancer was hot, but because he was popular among the Macedonians that they cheered and egged him to kiss him. Nice retelling though, lol, I enjoyed the narration.

@Cop Anders You only knows the dreams from UA-cam videos that were sold to you. Hence why you wont read, have not read on and so cant say anything on this topic. As your lazy and get your information from videos.
History is written by the victor, but the fact remains. In modern day Pakistan, that's were his last battles was, that's who killed his horse which he had with from the beginning as a kid, and they hit Alessandra HIMSELF with an arrow, the first and only time he was struck.
After this battle which he won, he went home, scared of the bigger Indian armies ahead. And this injury of the arrow was mostly likely the cause of his death.
The part of Pakistan were he had the last battle, this a warrior cast of farmers and are called 'Raja'. Known as Kings and nobles whilst being a warrior people. I know this because I am from exactly there and my family have been there for thousands of years, and his horse I know exactly were it is buried.

@Cop Anders Learn to write and read a book.
You can start with these facts below:
      - The impact of Muslim scientists on Leonardo DeVenci in general can be seen both implicitly and explicitly throughout his notebooks. His studies into Geometric Proportions were evidently informed by Thabit ibn Qurra, his work on Optics by Ibn Al Haytham (Alhazen) and his work on Mathematics by Al Kindi.
      - 500 years before Galileo, Muslim scholars accepted that the Earth was a round sphere.
      - Not only did Muslims preserve and translate ancient classical texts that inspired Renaissance thinkers, but they also invented the Scientific Method and Modern University system, which led to the Scientific Revolution, and pioneered medical and agricultural techniques that improved the quality of life of Europeans.
      - Islamic contributions to Medieval Europe were numerous, affecting such varied areas as art, architecture, medicine, agriculture, music, language, education, law, and technology.
      - Also Aristotle, spent some twenty years studying in Egypt.
Things invented by Arabs and Indian Muslims:
      - Hospitals
      - Surgery
      - University
      - Modern Chemistry
      - The scientific method
      - The number 0
      - Algorithm
      - Algebra
      - The first flying Machine
      - The first Camera
      - The game of chess
      - Ink
      - The fountain pen
      - The mirror
      - Optic glasses
      - Soap
      Architecture:
So called Italian and Greek architecture such as The Parthenon, Temple of Hephaestus, Temple of Aphaia, St. Peter's Basilica was actually first seen in Syria and Iraq, were you can still see the originals that were copied by Greeks and Roman still standing in Iraq and Syria today.
      - Read this book: Stealing from the Saracens: How Islamic Architecture Shaped Europe to see the facts
But you wont check these facts because you don't like to read and you want to think 'white is better', but they are just good theifs and liers, stealing it all from Arabs and Indians.
