- On Day 1 of Diesel Power Challenge 2015, its the Dyno competition held at ATS Diesel. This event is all about the numbers as each vehicle’s peak horsepower and torque numbers are added together for an overall total per pull. With Nitrous allowed, each contender is given 3 chances to score the highest and earn bragging rights as the most powerful truck!

Diesel Power Challenge 2015 is a weeklong torture test that features 7 events, 10 trucks, 8,000hp, and nearly 15,000 lb-ft of torque. We push Power Stroke, Cummins, and Duramax-powered trucks well beyond their limits in search of the ultimate diesel.

I love the lack of bullshit and drama, just very friendly competition. I'm not big into trucks but damn I like these guy's attitudes.
Some of the engine bays an setups are just amazing! The power from these engines is astonishing.

It reminds me of the guys on the hoods of the cars in Fury Road that were spittin gas into the intakes, pretty badass!

I drove a 99 ford with a 7.3 for work. That thing would pull anything all day for years. Sold it still running strong.

1200hp on a POWERSTROKE!? i need to look into those things, they always seemed to be the underdogs on the dyno. completely different story here!
That's after tons of money in modifications. Stock trucks is a completely different story.
i know that modification is key to horsepower, and that horsepower favors the Cummins and Duramax in more mildly modified trucks, but i've never seen a Powerstroke put much past 1000hp, much less outdoing Chevy and Dodge on the same dyno on the same day. i guess he had a higher budget than most everyone else.
Cobalt Lukather yeah i thought the same about the 1200, since it's a modern powerstroke, not like an old 24 valve cummins. But, since tuning isn't one and done, there's timing, of valves and ignition, and fuel mixture, i guess it's feasable to make that much. I mean, hey, i guess you get what you pay for...most of the time...sort of... :D
EDIT: maybe the dude does regular engine rebuilds? I've seen/heard of modern engines, stock, both gas and diesel, being revved to hard and too much and shooting pistons, gaskets, pretty much anything bolted on to the block.
And then i realized Oducks58 summed up what i said already. Except he actually sounded smart, lol. My bad.
probably the best powerstroke you can buy today would be that block with those mods on it. most people who take these trucks and make 4 digit numbers on street trucks should have some experience behind them, or at least had them built by someone who was experienced!

That shot of the rear of the ford that was put in 4 or 5 different times for different trucks was pretty lame. Did you think we wouldn't notice the difference? Don't be lazy. Good content though. Always love the DPC!

Its a dually, and it not meant for dynos its meant for towing.
it doesn't matter if it was a lawn mower. don't spit out a dyno number unless you can prove it within a reasonable margin of error. claiming 1200 but making 7-900 is waaaaaay out of a margin of error.
i think he meant the transmission was rated for 1200hp

Why not use a tube to lead away the exhaust fumes to outside during the dyno runs so they don't have to inhaled all that smoke? It would be a simple thing to do.

Not that I would ever try, but how much money would it cost to build a truck with these kinds of numbers? Those Torque numbers especially are insane. I think I've gone to a few autocrosses with my Miata where one or two of those trucks have more torque than the entire grid! Haha
So glad to see a Kentucky boy on here, especially one from a couple miles away! Too bad it's a 6 blow, but still a good lookin truck. ;)
