Gardenia!!!!
space cadet.
Can't go wrong with some Kyuss...🤘🤘 don't forget to let Judson listen to Fu Manchu Richard!
Fwark, I love me some Fu Manchu.
Saturn III OR Godzilla (I know it's a cover)
Kyuss are the real deal. I put them in the same bracket as Sabbath, in terms of song craftsmanship and pure fkn enjoyment. They had the meandering Doors-esque songs like Whitewater, they had the heavy tracks like Spaceship Landing, and they had the 3 chord trick radio friendly belters like Green Machine.
Each album is a little different, different feel to each one. My favourite is And The Circus Leaves Town, has it all!!!
Go deep dive down that rabbit hole Richard, Kyuss are too good to pass by.
They're no where near level of Sabbath
@@acidreign6 Music isn't a competition. As far as advancement and sound and impact on the genre, I would compare them to Sabbath. But again, it is like middle school arguments about the best guitarist.
Damm, last one Morphine, now Kyuss. Some great choices out of the ordinary lately.
I suggest either a Screaming Trees or Mark Lanegan reaction.
Borracho always gets me. One Way Street as well. Jadson seems to know some Mark Lanegan, though.
Fun fact, the name Kyuss was the name of a god in their D&D game. Electric Wizard is quintessential doom, anything off the dopethrone album is some of the most influential stuff of the genre, Funeralopolis is my favorite
Man, Kyuss always takes me back to my early 20s. This album was on repeat for so long.
The rare gems of Kyuss
Whitewater story - My wife had a near death doing a raft on Maine rivers before she met me. She had to fight that water to survive to meet me. As for the song, BIG reminder that this album had songs broken up in to 3, 3, and 4 songs. The songs flow together that way. Like the Whitewater.
lol, 'love' you guys...Everybody always talks about Homme but almost no1 talks about Reeder's silky smooth eargasmic bass lines
Or Brant Bjork's liquid drumming.
I really hope this leads to some Queens of the Stone Age. They're so damn good!
Patience, my friend
Their guitar and bass tones on Blues For The Red Sun are my favourite of all time.
Kyuss is awesome! I'm 46 and when I was around 22 I was in a pawn shop buying CDs and I saw Welcome to Sky Valley in there. I had seen the video for Green Machine from the previous record so I bought it. Holy shit. The entire album is awesome.
46 as well. Though my Kyuss story was seeing Green Machine on Headbangers ball.
Fucking love Kyuss dude, it's always great to see this kind of stuff on the channel.
I once visited the US and we drove from Anaheim to Vegas and this album was playing as the sun was setting. It truly was Welcome to Sky Valley!
*cough* Demon Cleaner *cough* (if you wanna listen to probably the most popular Kyuss song...)
Cant believe you did Kyuss!!!!
If you have not heard of them, the greatest Stoner/pyschadelic rock band out there is a band called Monster Magnet. Extremely underated and don't as much recognition they deserve. Their Last Patrol album is so god damn good.
I saw Monster Magnet play in Glasgow in 2005. Dave Wyndorf wore a Kyuss T-shirt
Now we need more song from kyuss
Josh Homme is one of the greatest riff writers of all time. You guys hitting Morphine (the most underappreciated Boston/Cambridge bands of all time) and then going into the greatest stoner riff bands ever makes me very happy.
You guys are the best.
Great reaction as usual. Please try to get in on some High on Fire.. song called “ Snakes for the Divine” Thanks and proceed!
🤘😎🤘
Kyuss!!!!!
Electric wizard, goatsnake, warhorse, sleep, cathedral, down.
And going off on a tangent neurosis would be an interesting journey. They go from post apocalyptic doom/sludge to ambient acoustic stuff.
I really like your interpretation of the whitewater as an analogy for a messy relationship or being a mess when coming out of one. Fits the music really well i think.
Another great (measures) addition to my stoner rock rotation, thanks!
Never heard of this band before, but this song hella good, I like the bass, guitar and the drums, especially it sounded like a drum solo!!!
Kyuss were so good and this is my favourite album of theirs. The best post-Kyuss band is Unida. John Garcia was never not great. So easy to tell that this was a Brant Bjork written track. His style is all over this one
definitely need to expose him to some ELECTRIC WIZARD, absolutely nothing compares to their sonic extremity, supercoven, chrononaut, and their first 4 full length albums have no equal in how CRUSHING a sound one band can create
If you like Kyuss, you should really check out Orange Goblin time travelling blues
This is desert rock and a great sub genre to explore
I'd like to suggest a documentary (well 2 if you can find the other one) and it's basically about the Stoner/Doom/Sludge scene. Just something yous can watch on your own time to learn more about the genre and it's major influences. There is a great quote from one of the members of the band Earthless "The song remains the same. If you wrote a great riff why not play it for the whole song?" haha Anyways that one is called "Such Hawks, Such Hounds." and that was on UA-cam for the longest time.
The other one is called "Lo Sound Desert" and was a PPV type video. That one focuses solely on the whole California Desert/ Palm Desert music scene and how it grew and then fell.
Homme uses a bass amp. That’s where the tone comes from
Tool did a live cover of a kyuss song called demon cleaner with kyuss bassist scott reeder. Check it out
This album is truly meant to be listened to as an album. Judson mentioned getting bored with the extended quieter ending, but in the context of the album, it's an interlude leading right into the next song. It would be hard for me to pick one song to represent this album; heck, on the CD, the album is only split across three tracks, with several songs per track. The band meant for it to be listened to in big greasy chunks.
Right man, this album was meant for driving through the dessert
Judson really rocking the Hannah Gadsby look today 😄
Thats funny
Nice T-shirt! I lost all my Sodom T-shirts I had in the 80s and 90s over the decades
I’d would have liked to hear you play along with them.
I LOVE that guitar tone!!! IIRC they played the guitar thru a bass amp...
Great choice.
what about sonic youth?
Interesting choice for intro into Kyuss. The whole album is 🔥
Oh my, 'Hard To Say I'm Sorry', had no idea that tear jerker was by Chicago, for a second there I thought it was 'Stay Another Day' by East 17, Haha!
You guys should do Neurosis next. Any song from Times of Grace, Enemy of the Sun or Through Silver in Blood.
"Crazy is Crazy!" - Judson, 2024.
Please do some Electric Wizard!
Love me some Kyuss! And Chicago as well. And I was thinking that Kyuss sounds like a lovechild of Tool and Smashing Pumpkins. And both bands came up in conversation as well. Weird that I have never though that before. And you should definitely do Kingston Wall at some point.
Homme rhymes with Mommy. Most people pronounce it incorrectly😊
Oh fuck yea!
Skyvalley is a masterpiece. There is some really good live footage of Kyuss playing a lot of this album. I recommend 👌. Josh plays through a bass amp and why it's so muddy in tone. It will grow on you. I had the same issue out the gate with Kyuss.
What did the Deadhead say when the drugs wore off? “What’s that awful noise?”
Electric wizard, FU Manchu and Om, please!!
Could you imagine Flight of the Eagle on here, woah.
@@Nebuloid1 absolutely! “Rays of the sun/To the shrine builder” is my suggestion for OM. Fu Manchu I’d suggest “the falcon has landed”. Electric wizard Id suggest “return trip”. Stoner doom/rock is my forte, I’ve got so many suggestions lol.
Judson, deadhead 👍👍
You gotta do Queens of the Stone Age, Richard.
Song For The Dead.
try some QUEENS OF THE STONEAGE. lots to choose from. Try SOMEONE IS IN THE WOLF.
You could try I appear missing by the Queens
Judson would like it I think
Very strange song !
Hum is another band if you love that thick heavy crunch
High on Fire would be a good one
Double head bobbing for the win
Judson would definitely like Fu Manchu.
for metalhead those type
of tones are hard… took me awhile too
Glad I’m not alone in that
1 of my favorite bands ever. Check out there track Green Machine next.
Great reaction. Anyway, can i request your reaction to superb band from japan?
The band is call "Lovebites"
They all The Beautiful Queens Metal band right now in the earth.
They are really really World class musicians. Phenomenal.
And they have a lot die hard fans too.
The song is "Swan song with chopin intro"
Hope you check out, and can enjoy it too. Big thanks🙏
If you want modern Stoner Rock (or Krautrock) you should listen to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. But read about them first, because they change their style with every album. They also have a great Thrash Metal album called "Petrodragonic Apocalypse".
You guys should do Emperor! Elegy of Icurus
Relationship !? Always thought this was about mother nature or something like that, "in your valley beneath your skies, I'm home...". Super chill desert vibes.
I thought it was about jim and susan macdougal. 🤡
@@that44rdv4rk Who the...
@@Nebuloid1a whitewater joke, but I may have misspelled the last name.
@@that44rdv4rk Google it is... Aha !
😈🔱..DAEVAR..CROOKED WHISPERS... CLOCKWORK GOD 🤘
Please, if you can, make a reaction on Dimmu Borgir (Progenies of the great apocalipse) and Age of Silence (Acceleration).
I bet the pianist will find it interesting!
Fuzz Theres a lot going on there
Check out the Fu Manchu cover of B.O.C's Godzilla
They did great stuff like Green Machine and One Inch Man
Great song, i love the fuzzyness! if you want another sugestion, listen to a french band called Slift. They are simply amazing! I recommend to watch the video: LIONS, TIGERS & BEARS (Live)
KYUSS! Demon Cleaner or Molten Universe would be my picks but Whitewater is good too.
How about some 'Dead , I feel like listening to Shakedown Street 😂
glorious 90s stoner rock makes me want to go buy a cheap fuzz pedal and a new bong.
Agent Orange!!!
🤘
M16
Whitemeasures!
Hello, Hello, Please react to the new Ren's music "Mackay."
It's a piano piece.
YOB - Marrow or Nothing to win.
But you’ll need to shorten the video 😂
And Whitewater is the name of a river crossing Palm desert there hometown
Edit : Josh Homme used to play on bass amp, that change the tone a lot.
Good song probably not the best for A intro to the band.
The guitar is played through bass amps. Might be why you struggle with the tone
I think you would like Eyes of the South by Down. Phil and Rex from Pantera are in this band.
