I think you installed the spring clip for the float needle in backwards. I tried the way you did it but it never stayed connected to the pin. I have the same engine, but with the electric start and generator.

What you are calling a jet that is under the needle is actually the "seat" for the needle. The jet is what meters the fuel. The seat seals against the needle to keep fuel from entering the carb fuel bowl.

I have a 1978 Evinrude 115. Been trying to find a rebuilt carb kit. Where do you get your rebuilt kits.

I'm having an electrical problem. When I turn the key, it won't turn over but when I jump it from the starter, it fires up. Any suggestions?

How the h candid you get the carb off? Did you take the starter off? I can't get mine off. Mines electric start and cable steering

Sonoma Style yes, took the starter off first. Then took the 2 nuts off the studs holding the carb on. I remember it was a little tricky getting the wrenches in there just right.

Hi, first of all thanks for the upload videos. I'm no mechanics and your videos really helped me. I still have a question. How did you figured how to bend the floater so it sit correctly? I cannot find the original spec for the measurement. I re-built my carb but definitly did something wrong... I'm getting a little fuel coming out of carb and engine won't run for long before choking. I'm thinking it's getting to much fuel (too rich).

Rule of thumb is when holding the carb level, you adjust it until the float also sits level and maybe even slightly higher.

Leo Gallant ok thanks. also I ordered the rebuilt kit on marine engine and it come with a slightly different carburator nozzle gasket. the one that was in place was a rubber o ring quite big compare to the one in the kit. should I have a tight fit at the top of the nozzle?
