When I was the penciller on Robin & Catwoman back in the 90's one of the inkers I worked with was Wayne Faucher who loved to use splatter. I always loved his inks & trusted him implicitly so I would simply tell him to use it wherever he felt like the art needed it. I imagine Chris Bachelo & Bucky had a similar working relationship on this book, so although it's possible that Chris might put a note in the margin of the art board for Bucky to use splatter, I suspect it was more often Mark's call.
@@jumu446 hi, yes I am. I am currently drawing Bruce Dickinson's (the singer for rock band Iron Maiden) 'The Mandrake Project' for Z2 comics, along with some other projects that are currently under wraps..
Hell yeah Keep 2099 going I love this universe It introduced my favourite superhero Miguel O'Hara with the coolest costume there ever was And I can't wait to get to Ghost Rider 2099 I am currently reading 2099(1992) in chronological order but I am nearing to the entrance of Ghost Rider
Chris Bachalo's first work for Marvel was X-Men Unlimited #1 (Apr-1993). The first three issues of Ghost Rider 2099 (Mar-1994) was his second work for Marvel. He had just ended his stint on Shade the Changing Man. I really hope you guys can do an interview with Chris one day. He's an awesome guy.
Ghost Rider 2099 was my favorite, that Bachalo art was exciting and new to me. Also the reason Gen X/ Next was on my read list too until they swapped artists out for Gen X. ✌🏾
Yeah, this was the one 2099 book that caught my imagination. You guys should do Marvel's Beavis & Butthead. Other than the Bullpen strips and Spidey's lettering, this was the series were I really noticed how awesome he was.
Hard to say with the time (and breakdowns vs full art), but if you look at a bunch of the Original Shade pages, Chris often played with photocopies. I have a few originals, and there are patterns you couldn't get in zip, but he would make them through photocopy (from where, I don't know) - so it's possible some of the weird backgrounds you mention are photocopy based.
Next stop: Ron Lim’s X Men 2099. I actually just got Ravage 2099 #1 signed by inker Keith Williams at a Con. He’s a nice guy. You guys Kayfabed that book for me even tho the writing is goofy
It's so great so see you doing more of the 2099 #1's. X-Men 2099, Ghost Rider 2099 and Doom 2099 are my favourite 2099 books. If you want to try some real stinkers from 2099, try Fantastic Four 2099 or 2099 World of Tomorrow, latter of which was the book that was made after Cavalieri was fired and most 2099 writers quit in protest. Also the Parody Press released 2099 books are awful. If you want a surprisingly good 2099 parody book, I would recommend Married With Children 2099 that was published by Now Comics.
Read a bunch of 2099 and always found it too be great ideas that were let down by the execution. The entire line never got better than 'okay' for me. Think I stayed on Spider-man the longest.
My favourites were X-Med and Doom. Ravage and Spider-Man were also very coo Punisher was a bit 'meh' but I loved the grenazer Hulk and Gost Rider werer't really my thing X-Nation and Fantastic Four were fairly terrible Didn't like Ghost Rider
Great video and great-looking comic. Death: The High Cost of Living and Generation X were my first Bachalo comics (and still probably favorite). I always wondered how to pronounce his name but never thought to look it up. I finally did and Ed says it right. It's "buh-CHAH-low" as he says here: ua-cam.com/video/AIcc6cZudnI/v-deo.html

Hi, I remember your name and work. Are you still working in the comics field?
@@jumu446 hi, yes I am. I am currently drawing Bruce Dickinson's (the singer for rock band Iron Maiden) 'The Mandrake Project' for Z2 comics, along with some other projects that are currently under wraps..
A real banger here gents. You guys have interviewed Sergio A. now how bout a vid on Groo comics.
Amazed this was not a video about the Ashley Wood issues. Those issues were insane.
My personal favorite 2099 book was Doom 2099 once Warren Ellis started writing it.
Ayyyy. This guy gets it.
Hell yeah
Keep 2099 going
I love this universe
It introduced my favourite superhero Miguel O'Hara with the coolest costume there ever was
And I can't wait to get to Ghost Rider 2099
I am currently reading 2099(1992) in chronological order but I am nearing to the entrance of Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider wasn't that good

The Burning Chrome graffiti on the bike in the two page spread opener is the title of a novel by cyberpunk author William Gibson
20:45 and Detonation Boulevard is a Sisters of Mercy song.
@freeradiomars I missed that. Hell yeah,a Sisters of Mercy reference.
It's interesting that you mentioned 2000AD because Ghost Rider was giving me Mean Machine vibes with his huge metal arm.
Ghost Rider 2099 was my favorite, that Bachalo art was exciting and new to me. Also the reason Gen X/ Next was on my read list too until they swapped artists out for Gen X. ✌🏾
Doom 2099 is way more cyberpunk, especially the Warren Ellis issues.
Using Gilberg as verb is just another example of why I dig this channel.
Badass! I just pre-ordered the Ghost Rider 2099 Omnibus on Amazon! It comes out in Oct. 2024!
That early Ashley Wood is vicious!
I got Spider-Man 2099 No.1 when it came out. Still got it too.
Doom had the best story for sure
if you liked Len Kaminski's GR 2099, you should give his Bloodshot run a try too
With amazing art by Sal Velluto!
Gah! I thought this video was going to be speculating on comics 75 years in the future.
What Is YOUR Favorite 2099 comic book? Doom 2099 !!!
Ashley Wood and Bendis collaborated on Hellspawn. I still have my floppies, shit is fire!
Yeah, this was the one 2099 book that caught my imagination. You guys should do Marvel's Beavis & Butthead. Other than the Bullpen strips and Spidey's lettering, this was the series were I really noticed how awesome he was.
Trick question! Robert Kirkman and Khary Randolph’s Mutant 2099 is the best 2099 book… just came out a little late.
You guys should do a video on marvel comics presents 100 art by sam kieth and tim vigil on art assist
Dope! Thanks guys !

Miss you guys
I have not read the GR 2099, but had a soft spot for Spidey 2099 for sure!

X-Men was great, and I always tried to get everything Lim did

Have yo guys ever covered the G.I. Mutants?
Read a bunch of 2099 and always found it too be great ideas that were let down by the execution.

X-Nation and Fantastic Four were fairly terrible
Didn't like Ghost Rider
My favorite is Spider-man 2099 but I liked X-men 2099 too.
I got Ghost Rider 2099 #1.😀👍
For the most part I enjoyed X-Men, Doom, and Spider-Man 2099

Jesus is it 2099 already?
Spider-Man and Doom 2099 were the only interesting books to come out of that experiment
DOOM.
Love the 2099 comics especially the early DOOM run. I'll be here for every 2099 comic you cover. Keep them coming.
DOOM 2099 2-4 are better than the 1st issue though.
Do they use black paper over white paper or do they actually draw the page normal and ink the gutters black?
