Thanks for the great explainer on the Solent rig. You guys introduced me to this rig a while back and I’ve been intrigued by it ever since. I know the primary purpose here is marketing, but as a beginner sailer, I appreciate the level of instruction you managed to include in this.

Funny how I meet so many sailors who swear they tried this and it didn't work. Yet logically it is absolutely the correct way to sail downwind. Goose-winging the mainsail always struck me as complicated, unstable and prone to gear failure by comparison.

Good point that utilizing a mainsail rather than two foresails going downwind tends to lead to more corkscrew movement of the entire boat, which is uncomfortable.

    Wing-to-wing Vs Spinnaker?
Question from a day or coastal sailor: Why not fly your spinnaker? Would that be less work and equal the performance?

how do you set the autopilot on this setup, I suppose wind mode to 180°?
what I would like to see in more detail how you set up the 3rd sheet for the jib. do you leave it on the clew when you change course and use the normal jib sheets?

Using wind mode is a great tool for this setup. Yes, we leave it on the clew and re adjust. We will look to make a video showing the set up and use of this set up :)
