In this lesson you will learn a rhythm to help you practice what you have learnt so far on the djembe with Steve Rivers.
Steve Rivers and the Unbeatable Energy team have been teaching and inspiring drum players for over 20 years. Through African drumming and percussion workshops and events, Steve and his team have unlocked the undiscovered creativity and rhythm in thousands of adults and children from evening classes and schools to corporate events across the world.

These instructional videos provide helpful tips, essential technique, and practise rhythms to support your playing. There is no substitute for playing the djembe live with others. To book a session, or find out more about Unbeatable Energy and Steve Rivers, please get in touch.
Thank you for your videos, they give me a new vision off this instrument :)
Ive just subscribed you are an excellent teacher, and I appreciate these fantastic lessons very much indeed. looking forward to learning more with you, thanks again
Nino Divino thank you for such kind words. Where about dare you based? Perhaps if you are close to Sheffield Uk you could join us at one of our classes :-)
@@unbeatableenergy I would love to join you guys for a course.
I'm from the UK originally, but am now based in Japan.
If ever you are interested in running a course here, I would be honoured to help coordinate something with/for you.
My wife and I are looking to setup some sort of academy soon. Music will be a big part of it as I am a musician in(perpetual) training.
Mostly, I play the voice and guitar :) but have always had a passion for the hand drums in particular.
Nino Divino ah I once went to Japan to run a drumming event at a conference. A mad 14 hour trip to do a 20 minute ice breaker! I’d love to go back and maybe next time see a bit more of Japan. Who knows - I’m definitely open to the possibility and if it happens I will certainly get in touch! Warm regards Steve Rivers
You are a great teacher
This is awesome. Yet, I could not do the last section when you started using your legs as instrument
Juan Pablo Troconis Bello Thanks! Yes it can take time to get the parts to flow, but if you take it a little slower it’s a nice exercise to practise. Glad you enjoyed the vid and have fun!
@@unbeatableenergy I ran into the same issue. Maybe more time for us noobies to get the hang of it. I actually didn't fully have the hang of the Africanized beat before you added the legs. I appreciated the length of the video because it's helpful to play along and give it a chance to start to become muscle memory.
thanks!
you are welcome Stef ! Hope you enjoyed the video and do let me know know if you have any other queries :-)
