Simply amazing episode. One of Tony's best. I'm currently in Luang Prabang on a 2 month journey through SEA. Currently getting over a stomach virus i picked up in Thailand before I got here. The generosity and kindness of the local people has been beyond heartwarming. Anyone who finds out of my sickness has offered me remedies, advice and help. It's truly the most gentle place I've ever been.
Born in Laos, grew up in Australia.. we left after the Vietnam war...my parents knew there no future for us there when the communist came in...Thank you for showing my birth country...and how the "secret" war affected the whole country🙏🙏🙏
Never seen this episode before, saw the no reservations one, which I enjoyed but this, well. That was beautiful, enchanting and enlightening. Makes you ashamed to be American. This is why this man is a legend. Laos is definitely on my bucket list. Only the British guy Simon Reeve can lay a claim to be compared to this great man.
Anthony Bourdain is one of kind, a legend, a man who spoke his mind without a filter, a passionate writer who had no boundaries and kept pushing his limit beyond his imagination. There is no other man like him, no comparison to put it simply.
It gives me great joy and immense sorrow that one of my father's heroes gave his time and attention to the country and people that he devoted all his life's work to. I only wish both men were alive to share their love for culture and life together. Rest peacefully, both my heroes.
Laos is one of my favourite countries I have visited, so glad that Anthony Bourdain came here and showed the country, along with highlighting some of its sad recent history.
Finally made it to visit Lao a few months ago and from my experience it‘s the most spiritual, primitive, special and (partially) unspoilt of the SEA Region. Beautiful people, full of grace and majestic landscapes, culture and food. Terrible past and also a dangerous present, mostly through Chinese exploitation of their scarce resources. Still, unforgettable, eager to come back one day.
The amount of Chinese vehicles importing goods from Laos over the mountainous border is crazy. Trying to navigate the mountain roads sharp turns with these vehicles is even crazier!
Watching this episode in Nong Khiaw, having just come from Luang Prabang. Such humbling experience on my first ever trip to Laos. The people are simply beautiful and their kindness and generosity filled my cup, and for that I'm grateful.
Just have some best pastries in Vientiane to days it was the best i ever h as it fir long time. Love your report antoni .you are the best and always remembered. ❤❤❤.may you be happy in haven 🎉🎉🎉
It's these episodes I really enjoy Anthony really had a soft spot 4 these ppl places like this really brought the best out 4 ever Missed ❤️ R.I.P. A.B 🙏❤️ Migwech 🙏
People talking about how dangerous Mexico is, or worried about a "war" between Ukraine and Russia but no one pay attention to countries like Laos that have been suffering the consequences of cluster bombs and landmines for years
Yeah the worry about the Ukraine war from western countries is really hypocritical when you consider how many wars across the world have existed for years. But it's inside Europe so now people suddenly realize there is war in the world.
The title represents only 3% of what's inside this episode. The 'bombies' might be more appropriate to be in the title. The five minutes towards the ending without being narrated, that is a brilliant decision.
@@jameskool1521 absolutely. In my meager travels I've changed so much in my life. I can only imagine the impact of experiencing the hard truth of this world of ours.
My wife was there a few years ago, beautiful country and people.Yes,a lot of reminders of the war in the local population and it shows on how many places make arms and legs for those that are lost.Sad but true.
That’s the Loy Kratong festival at the end…..an apt example of the beauty and compassion of Asian people compared to the vile principles of the West…..say no more, period
Laos is wonderful and so is the food. Shame that Anthony uses the American pronunciation of the country not the local one. The final "s" is a French invention but is meant to be silent, just like the "s" in Paris.

So euphoric. Anthony doesn’t just take you to eat food but tells a story of the local culture. Beautiful!
Near perfect episode with a powerful ending. And a powerful message. Yes its a country with only 7m people. But those people are lovely and kind.
Another super episode. Tony you are sadly missed
Another comment saying you're missed Tony.

The thing about these ZPZ productions is they cunningly hide real production chops behind the front man.
That's an awful lot of talent on one team.
I wonder if all these experiences affected Tony’s perspective of life
Possibly. Real travel will always impact your life one-way or another
He’s seen and done things that could not possibly have not changed his perspective on life.

The Indonesia and Bhutan episodes probably influenced his decision to end it that's for sure.
if only there were subtitle for the hearing impaired.....
What have they done to this beautiful land?
Same thing they did to so many other lands. US is not the only culprit here - the French have a lot to answer for.
Why are the other 79 videos hidden?
What’s the music @ 11:47 ?
Yey
More bombs dropped on Laos than WW1 AND WW2 put together
Freedom bombs :D
Sad but true..
raining democracy
@@laza6141 The american freedom means dead children and killed mothers, the secret war s not the issue just in Laos 🙄🙄
Would be nice if China and Russia returned the favour on USA

Listen to how JFK butchered the pronunciation.... Laayosss.
So if you went to Finland, you'd start to call it Suomi around English speakers? No you wouldn't.

Wish we had stuff like that in the UK. we just have Racism, Pies, and Morris Dancing. Not quite the same.
Agreed Laos needs mass immigration. It looks boring
What're you talking about most English people aren't racist.
skar- nonsense response- you obviously should be living outside the UK...
“Orange robes, the whole bit?”…..how utterly offensive to Buddhist people!?….shame on you Bourdain…
Anthony Bourdain is an average reporter/correspondent at best- the UK has a dozen more entertaining..
Why are you watching then?
Plus we're talking past tense he died already
The CIA should be cleaning up those bombs, plain and simple.
