Wrestlers coming out for promo segments in their full wrestling gear, then being shocked when being told they have to wrestle.
Lol oh yeah
haha yes! wow im gonna have to make a part 2 video lol. that drives me nuts too. 'oh my a tag team match right now, in my gear im shocked"
This used to bother me until I realised, in kayfabe, that half the matches on a show are made during the show, so it makes sense for wrestlers, in story, to be prepared
This always bothered me.
For me it’s how ridiculously slow the wrestlers climb ladders in ladder matches. It’s even worse when they get to the top and struggle to unhook the briefcase/belt.
That's been a passtime lately.
They even do it in the game.
They do it to add to the suspense.
Technically if they're fatigued and losing their motor skills it would make sense. Not if they're just obviously being dumb.
@@wolfmode0061 THQ added that in
Their WWE games.
Think 2k also.
If they just ran up the ladder and
Grab the titles I'll suck.
Gotta add suspense and excitement to the audience so they'll have something
To talk about next week.
False finishes have gotten out of hand. No one has an actual finishing move anymore. It gets exhausting.
for real. its so repetitive and dumb
You just have to do it 3xtimes over for it be legit now.
It’s because they’ve gotten rid of the concept of just “winning the match”. You can’t just hit your finish and pin him anymore, you have to hit the set up to your finish, then your finish and maybe your finish again if the guy is too strong
I agree, but there is another opposite issue too. That nothing but the finisher (or a quick roll up pin) will win a match either. Like, for example, when Bronson Reed will hit a massive powerbomb and go for a pin, but we ALL know, despite it looking like his opponent should be dead, he will kick out because it wasn't a finisher or a quick roll up. No other moves win matches except finishers or roll up pins, and wrestlers always act surprised that the pin they attempted didn't work, but we all know why it didn't.
@@bodymore420nah Cody Rhodes is the only guy like that
unpopular opinion: the what chant is the worst thing to happen to professional wrestling. I love that wrestlers are starting to clap back like when drew said "say what if you tongue kick your cousin" and they still said it lmfaoo
also, the "I Want It All" smackdown is top 3 and it aint 2 or 3!!!!
I don't mind wrestlers wearing their street clothes
“Still watch wrestling ?”
TILL THIS DAY!!!!
💯💯💯
I see what you did there 😂
The eyes are actually shorthand to communicate with the referee, if their eyes are open it means they’re going to kick out, if they’re closed it basically tells the ref to count the 3. It’s not done all the time and is usually reserved for late in the match
It's awful. They used to not have to do it. It just means they're lesser performers.
@@UnderScoredd it’s not that they “have to do it” it’s just become standard procedure, similar to how all chair shots are protected now, I don’t like the eyes shorthand either but I accepted it a while ago, I just focus on the superstar making the pin instead of the one being pinned
Yeah it's very noticable in these last few years. It's like when a wrestlers lifts another wrestler and taps them on the back before they slam them
That's not true they're just making sure they see the refs count so they can kick out at the last possible minute. Ref counts to 3 if they don't kick out in time.
@@whisperienced to be honest, I don’t claim to know for sure, I learned it from a wrestlelamia video a few years ago, it could’ve changed since then or just been outright misinformation
The “ONE FALL” thing is more or less a way of clueing the crowd into “a match is coming.” And I know, that should be obvious, but it really does signify a shift in the program. “A match is going to happen now.”
I agree big time on the titantrons. I miss actionpacked titantron videos
They have varied set layouts, so the background video with the logo makes sense as they can put it on any combination of LED board.
The sweats don't bother me more than a full suit does. I feel like sweats make way more sense cuz, fighting
I completely disagree. A full suit displays professionalism. I think only guys with a legitimate sport/mma background should wear sweats and athletic gear
What annoys me so much is when someone hits like 5 finishers on there opponent and the opponent does one and wins 🤬
Super Cena era....I still have dreadful nightmares of Cena giving The Nexus the golden shovel.
@@joshhernandez5046 real bro
I think the tron issue is the attention span today. I miss the highlights too. It was one of the best things to see when a wrestler would come out. Like a combo of "I'm coming" and "here's what I've done."
It's not so much that as the TV industry has shifted as far as presentation. The 70s-2000s style of showing a montage of each actor/character Full House style is dated. Now almost all are a simple music sting and a title card. I think they can do more variations vs. just a logo or name - Carmella's entrance video looks like a music video of her posing in front of an expensive car, for example. But the quick cuts of doing moves in the ring just looks a bit corny and old now.
I love the one fall call, it makes matches feel ceremonial. Great video Matt
I like it too, I don't agree with this gripe.
The eyes open during a pin is one of those "wrestling secrets" you're not supposed to see. If their eyes are open they're going to kick out. You can go back to the Attitude Era and see the greats do it too...once you see it, you can't unsee it.
Also highly disagree about the cussing. It doesn't need to be impactful...the wrestlers are adults, they cuss like sailors in their free time, we're adults and likely do it too. Acting like it's a big shocking moment that CM Punk called Drew a little b**** is so cringe. I want them to cuss MORE so that it stops being impactful, and comes off as normal, every day speech. This world of censorship EVERYWHERE has gotten out of hand. Such as me having to change this comment and censor the B-Word because UA-cam has to warn me about it. Ridiculous.
The thing that probably gets me the most these days, are the breaking the barricade spot is always done on the same gimmicked barricade now next to the time keeper, and in a multiperson match you can bet 99.9% of the time they're going to do a Tower of Doom spot. It's become too predictable.
I will agree that the barricade spot almost every show (particularly in WWE) feels horribly repetitive. What I find weird is that this feels repetitive as hell, but during the Attitude Era and earlier Ruthless Aggression Era - both watching 20-25 years ago when it was current times and watching back today - rarely did it feel repetitive for the Spanish announce table to get broken at _least_ once a week on WWF/E TV.
Marilyn Manson with the beautiful People was my favourite Show Intro , i miss this great Time.
Instead of saying what, let’s say yeah like LA Knight
What
I don’t have many issues, but it all relates to the TV side of wrestling.
I wish the lower and midcard performers got some actual good stories. The main event always has some engaging story but nothing else does.
Lastly, wrestlers are not very vocal or expressive in the matches.
Think about Roman matches where he is yelling at the opponent, or making comments on the crowd to Heyman.
It’s dramatic.
Some guys can do it with expressions, like Rock or Hogan but most aren’t doing anything.
Def Rebel makes me love CFO$....
I noticed at Wrestlemania when Priest cashed in they didn’t do the trope where the ref for some inexplicable reason is somehow oblivious to what MITB is as a concept and what they’re supposed to do when presented with the briefcase.
A funny thing for me that I've realised through the years that I've never seen anybody bring up, whenever a wrestler is up on a titantron screen talking to someone in the ring as if they're talking to each other live, they're actually not live at all and the wrestler in the ring is actually talking to a pre taped video, the wrestler that talks on the screen will speak for a while, they mention a key word (the key word is important! For example they'll say, next week I'm going to kick your ass) and then they pause. once they get to their pause, the wrestler in the ring will respond to the pre taped titantron wrestler, and they will make sure to specifically reply to the key word, for example; you want to kick my ass ? Well why don't you come down and try. And vise versa. They always end it with a weird stare down where none of them are talking, I guess to easily transiton out of the segment. It is well done but once you've seen it you can't unsee it especially on some occasions where some stuff they do on the video doesn't make sense like they'll respond a little bit too early or chuckle at the wrestler when it doesn't fit the mood.
One thing I always hate is in mutli man matches where one guy does the diving crossbody to the outside where his partners and opponents gather together awkwardly waiting to catch the guy and the two guys on the end who barely get touched or not touched at all fall over. This whole spot needs to be ditched, jump on one or two guys at the same time, not 5 or 6, it looks stupid.
I gotta say this is probably my favorite UA-cam channel for wrestling or in general. Man always has a positive outlook on whatever subject he’s addressing or at least a positive demeanor. It makes a huge difference
hey donald, thanks! I try to put out the best videos i can on anything wrestling related. but not make it all 'doom and gloom' let's have some fun!
@@AssembleShowYEAHHH
What chaps my ass is when somebody becomes champion, they're magically overpowered. Like Seth going for Theory's US title, couldn't beat him for shit but then went almost a year undefeated once he won the WHWC. Jinder when he was champ was almost untouchable, soon as he lost it he was back to being a jobber.
FInishers not being finishers. Tiny superstars beating monsters by defying the laws of physics. A dozen grown men security guards not being able to keep two females apart. Groups of superstars standing around outside a ring pretending to be dazed while another takes 15 seconds to line up thier dive from the top rope. Hot tags that grant magical powers.
3:52 i agree with u, but the eyes open is safety measure, is a sign the wrestler is giving to the referee, its more of a tecnichal thing than a narrative stuff, they could work this out and change the sign to something else, but the eyes open are more subtle than a hand sing or something like that
The what chant drives me crazy makes me wanna change channels or fast forward the segment
I love all of the extra space with the new set up. Enough space for a pyrotechnic show to kick off the video! That would be so cool. 🔥
Also i agree about the roaming camera, i loved it in TNA and always wanted WWE to do it.
I disagree with the sweatpants, the cursing and the announcer/one fall. Wrestlers should have different street clothes ans sweats add to the athleticism. Brock, Rock and kurt Angle wore their merch and sweats all the time.
It’s true, just feel like every time I turn on AEW everyone’s just in comfy sweats lol instead of looking like wrestlers
When a move is set up to obviously be countered.
Examples: Miz will lift his opponent up so they can roll through the Skull Crushing Finale but that move doesnt have a lifting part if ita gonna be hit
Scott Hall would always go for a Razors Edge next to the ropes so he could be back dropped over them
Almost every time a wrestler goes for a diving "nothing," just to get fall into an RKO, a Sweet Chin Music, etc. It actually wasn't as bad with a lot of diving "nothings" for the RKO or Sweet Chin Music, but an example that I've always hated is a wrestler facing Triple H on the top rope just sorta "hops" off the turnbuckle into a toe kick to _then_ take the Pedigree. More often, it seems to be closer to the latter than the former.
I agree for sure in the old show intros and better hype music. Also the old titantrons. I also miss the old upcoming match up screens where they would flex and pose then it would freeze as the commentary would hype it up.
I have been watching it 40 years and I'm 44
Start off in the rock and wrestling era
I've been watching Wrestling since I was teenager
I started Hulkster n macho man MSG & mean gene rip ❤
I am 49 Woman Now
Loving the new set up brother
hey thanks !
Immediate sub from the first video. This is exactly the content I love 🙌
hey thank you!! dizzyparker i just launched a second channel "assemble wrestling" its for topics just like this ! ua-cam.com/video/CeYC7H4DFyA/v-deo.html
Over use of Superkick, Canadian destroyer, spear.
Finishers no longer winning matches. Cody needs three Cross Rhodes to win. Get a new finisher!
I don't like new wrestlers being presented like Goldberg. (Ryback, Bron Breakker) It's boring. It worked for Goldberg, but stop now. Use some thought to get people over.
Wrestlers forget how to climb ladders/cage.
I feel you could do a part 2 of this Matt.
Haha I feel like it could be a series
Ya the superkicks need to stop and spears
I definitely agree with the titantron hype packages and themes , idk why they don’t make these type of changes come back
Man I do miss titantrons, and good music for the shows and entrances...
I feel like the swearing (at least now, in the new era) I believe it was CM Punk who said "it's not that not everybody can curse, it's like if you're gonna do it, it better has the same weight as The Rock cursing"
It has to have meaning now
The sweat pant thing doesn’t bother me. A lot of athletes wear sweats while working out.
lol i know, it just seems to be a lot !
It's in the top 3 things I hate in wrestling now. I don't think you're a star if you look like a jobless bum. Just my opinion.
@@SkySoFew what’s wrong with being comfortable while putting your body on the line ? You want them to come out in sweats or their in ring attire every time they step into the ring ? For all we know they just did a set of 10, 30 minutes before they went on air 😂
U know what else I hate.....that freakin' "You Deserve it!" chant....No the hell they don't.
Yes they do
@@yellowsnowman9157no the hell they don’t.
@@yusuke5717 wrong
@@LordDrakkon-tx8qu no the hell I ain’t
@yusuke5717 yes, you actually are wrong.
One thing I hate with music, is how often they change the wrestler's theme songs! I miss when they had a theme for their whole career, unless there is a major gimmick change.
Two things I find annoying is how every or almost every entrant in the rumble, the announcers would give a good compliment and it seems like they have a hard time knowing what to say. Another is how wrestlers mostly go out right before elimination like they are afraid to fall on to the floor outside. They just fall slowly onto the apron. This started in 2015 and that rumble was just… bad
I think it has been done already for like themes for ppvs in the past but i think Akillet would be a banger for the intro.
Ehhh majority of these are very nit picky to me the only one I agree with is the what chants always find it annoying.
Next year will mark my 30th year watching wrestling too and I've loved it since starting out as a WCW kid. My biggest gripe is the fact that a finisher means nothing anymore. Don't mind signiture spamming or a finisher becoming a sig so it can be used more, but I do like seeing a move that I know will end the match 90% of the time but it's a joy waiting for it to come. Also miss entrance videos that have shots of the wrestlers and not just their names or catchphrases.
Assemble you are spot on with these points. As a 35 year viewer of WWE since 1988 at 3 years old, I especially agree with the Raw/Smackdown intro music. It has to be metal or rock music to really get you hyped up for the show. I’m a big fan of 90s gangster rap, 2Pac is the goat. But today’s mumble rap sucks and doesn’t belong on the main show themes. Titantrons and Jim Johnston definitely have to come back too.
Babyface promos that sound like Valedictorian graduation speeches
Is that a shot at Ziggler I smell 🧐
The company should have (arguably can still) lean more into L.A. Knight's "YEAH!" chant to phase out "what?" . Knight himself is the perfect vessel to move a new crowd chant imo.
I agree the intro theme for Raw needs a change. Something rock related would be nice over hearing a hip hop song.
I think Legendary by Skillet was the last amazing RAW opener theme, trying think if I forgot anything but I don't think RAW had a rock song since Legendary.
Dunno if Jim would return, think I seen on Google he's 67 (nearly 70). But WWE should at least consider trying to patch up their relationship with CFO$. Sure they made short 30-40 second music loops, but they where good loops with a lot of theme's that stood out. Both Bayley hugger and heel theme (which WWE recently changed), AJ Styles theme (which WWE recently changed), Naomi's Amazing theme, Sasha's theme (pre-Snoop Dog remix), I'm pretty sure still Bianca's and Becky's theme's, Bobby/Robert Roode's Glorious, Shinsuke's theme, Sami's theme.
WWE have gotten rid of a lot of CFO$'s stuff, but some of their stuff is also still around. And while they may not generally be songs you'll throw in your Mixtape and listen to on a walk, for a 1-2 minute entrance theme, they work great. CFO$ did a pretty good job capturing a wrestlers personality in their music and making many of the theme's stand out. Which is more then can said about the majority of Def Rebel.
As for what, yeah it is tired. It worked for Stone Cold, and you can still keep it around for R-Truth (Don't "what" me... Okay "WHAT" ME), but fans really should stop using What for every single wrestler and every single promo. It was icon for Stone Cold, it can still be iconic for R-Truth today. But it really should only be used with those two, not crowds chanting it towards literally the entire WWE roster.
All valid opinions. That corbin eyes open watching ref count annoys me too. I wish it was something i can unsee now when watching matches
One thing that I cannot stand is when a wrestler is in the ring with an opponent and their rival's music hits, they freeze and wait and wait while their opponent recovers. This has been happening for decades and it completely takes away from the "fight" aspect of the match. If you're seconds away from winning but your rival's music hits, finish the opponent then deal with the rival.
That's not how it works. Besides anyone would be distracted by an unexpected 'guess'
I definitely disagree with the sweatpants thing. I think it’s cool seeing the unique style everybody has even if it’s just sweatpants. Rey Mysterio’s casual style(that I see on Wwe) actually inspired me to adjust some of my own styling.
For the themes of shows, I think they need to bring back intros. They haven't had an NXT intro since they moved from NXT 2.0 to NXT. Raw has had like 1 or 2 in the last 2 years.
I miss those Titan trons too
The thing about wrestling I hate the most is two-fold. Finishers don't matter and wrestlers don't sell anymore. Matches feel more like spotfests, like everyone's chasing a viral moment instead of trying to tell a story in the ring. I see this more in AEW but WWE's been slowly incorporating it too.
I watched it a little bit with friends, but as for watching it regularly, same here! 1994 was the year my dad got Sky with the Sports package. I remember King of the Ring that year and the first 'big' PPV I watched with my dad was Summerslam '94.
Keeping their eyes open is to let the referee know they're going to kick out. It's not for the wrestler to be able to see what the ref is doing, it's for the referee to know that the match isn't over so he shouldn't get to three. I agree that it looks bad though.
Glad you mentioned the eyes wide open thing. Carmelo Hayes did this repeatedly when version Cody last week. Was so immersion breaking I just couldn't enjoy that match.
Logan Paul is the only one who has an actual titantron.
And Carmella before she went on maternity leave
I've watched wrestling my whole life. But there was a period of time where it just turned me off completely until AEW started. Before AEW I would just keep in the loop of what was going on. As far as watching the product. It was only UA-cam clips. Now funny enough I'm not really watching AEW but I am once again watching WWE weekly.
I can forgive wrestlers watching the ref's hand while they're being pinned. I can imagine it's a lot harder to hear the pin in a noisy arena, and some of the wrestlers could have have hearing damage we don't know about
It bugs me in NXT mostly where they introduce someone and just say their name. They don't say where they're from or their weight. For women, I understand no weight announcement, but for the men, they should do the full From and Weighing announcement.
What chant is the new Boo
I have a problem with finishers, because it doesnt ever finish a match anymore. And, ok, i get maybe doing two for a small moment but now its 3 or more to just end a match. Why not just drag on the match and do the finisher at the end so its more effective? A good example of using too many finishers is Sami Zayn (how he won the Tag and IC title) and Ilja and Trick during their title match. And Ilja even did, what 2k would refer to as, multiple "super finishers" and it just doesnt make sense. (edit) You can also have the get out of multiple finishers and make it look good, just dont have them kick out, have them put their foot on the rope, have someone come out, just something other than kicking out
I Can Totally Relate To You As You Thought About It
One of the things that i tire of is the monster type wrestler who can't be stopped and just destroys everyone and then when he finally loses a match he becomes a monster just for most to beat to make them seem like they did something when everyone who's a big star has best too,if you have the monster lose then just keep building him as still a monster and nearly unbeatable
The biggest issue I have with their current production are the 3D graphic "augmented reality" things they have for some entrances. Cody's is the most tolerable, but so often they distract from what you actually want to see. Most of the animation is also pretty bad and looking back on those graphics is going to make that era feel super dated. It does seem like they might be phasing out a lot of them though.
I’m sorry, but Jon Moxley is way worse with keeping his eyes open while getting pinned… I’m talking the title is changing hands if he gets pinned, and his eyes are WIDE open lookin at the ceiling!
💯
Man you really hit the top of the nail on that one I've been feeling the same wrestling is losing it's pop
I agree with the titan trons and entrances of attitude and ruthless aggression errors, I miss them too.
During a royal rumble, I can’t stand when eliminated wrestlers can officially eliminate superstars still in the match. Also, I think it looks odd when wrestlers are being hoisted over the rope and for some reason, their legs no longer work. Just kick your legs and get the guy away from you!
I’d also like to see contract signings go away. Gee, I wonder if there will be a fight that breaks out?
Two guys going for a superplex and then a third decides to turn it into a power bomb. I find it hard to believe.
Lastly, I really don’t enjoy watching tag team partners crawl to their corner.
The eyes are open because they are sometimes communicating with the ref
i know, i guess its more the camera then is zoomed in so close lol
Yeah it's weird they do that every so often but they do that to Corbin alot
OMG.IM glad somebody finally said everything I was thinking..I've been watching for 45 years and everything you said is spot on..I also agree with someone in the chat about ladder matches it's like OMG climb the dang thing already..
I hate when wrestlers switch between heel or face and forget they didn’t have issues with someone. Luckily it looks like we’re getting less of it. Shoutout to Kevin Owens and Eddie Kingston.
I don't have a problem with the eyes being opened during pin attempts, because I just rationalise that the wrestler isn't unconscious, they're either stunned or just had the wind knocked out of them, and the reason they aren't kicking out immediately is because they don't immediately have the energy for it, but it doesn't mean they aren't aware they have to.
I don't like how little effort goes into face turns most of the time. Usually it's just having a heel have something bad happen to them at the hands of another heel and us being expected to have sympathy for them rather than just consider it karma for them being bad people. The most prominent one for me is when Evolution turned on Randy Orton after he won the World Championship, because that episode of Raw opened with Randy coming out and gloating about it and putting down the other men of the same age as him in the crowd as being out of shape losers who aren't as accomplished as him. That kinda made it hard for me to feel bad on his behalf that same night when he was attacked. Show me an actual redemption story more, like we got with Jey when he split from The Bloodline, please. After Drew has his match with CM Punk, I'd love it if they really considered him taking in what people have been saying to him about how he has to stop being bitter and move on and actually change.
G Making Great Points 💯🤷🏾♂️
It took me a long time to realize titantrons no longer showcased the wrestlers matches hitting finishing moves left and right. Why did they change that?
I hate it when wrestlers point at the wrestlemania sign.
I wished they get better stages. Some of the older raw and smackdown stages were iconic. Now most ppv and and shows use the same stage.
Carmella's cash in will always be my favorite. *chef kiss* top tier lmao 😂😂. Funny as hell. Also there's nothing wrong with the "What?" chant lmao. If you don't like it that's fine but just because its old and just because Austin isn't around anymore doesn't mean fans can't chant it. What kind of logic is that? Also, if a wrestler isn't competing or in an interview or press conference then they don't need to be in they're wrestling gear or a suit. Its completely normal to wear sweats. Espescially when working out. I'm sorry but that comment also makes no sense to mw. Why would that take you out of the experience? Kind of silly.
I was looking at Naomi’s & Liv’s last week and was wondering why it was so plain looking! I miss the promo cuts and portraits
You know it’s bad when even Stone Cold is sick of the what chants.
Ummm Matt about your second point. Literally every single wrestler in every promotion does this. The eye contact is to let the ref know to not do a three count.
Track suits and sweatpants never bothered me…to me it gave the impression they are coming from or going to the gym…they are wrestlers…
My biggest irk is how the wrestlers act like there's an invisible force field keeping them from chasing after another wrestler when they run out of the ring. The heel will run out of the ring before the face can catch them and the face acts like they can't just step out of the ring and chase them down. So silly. JR even called this out on an episode of Dynamite one time. So hilarious 😅
I completely agree with you
The eyes open thing is fine for me, because they could just be selling that they got the wind knocked out of them and can't move as opposed to being fully knocked out.
I agreee whoever or however they came up with Romans Theme is how they need to do everyones theme
I totally agree with the wrestlers theme songs all being generic except for a select few , punk and orton for example, but to be fair everyone with a generic theme for the most part is pretty much just another generic feeling wrestler. Granted you see more guys now days due to Triple H stepping out of that generic box that they were in before, but their themes are still just generic trash until they get closer to that top guy/girl status then maybe they’ll see a change in theme . I also have no idea why the titantrons are all basically their names in a unique font on a background. Seems like that choice was a major down grade from full on entrance videos , which if they brought back full on entrance videos then that would be stepping further from that generic superstar status and would give each person a little bit more personality.
HEY I FOUND A HIDDEN FEATURE (for me atleast) BUT you can add and unadd the soundtrack to include the song you want and also you can use wrestlers entrance music too!!! I start my game with the rock music playing and it makes the main title screen looks electric
One thing for me is when there's a run-in where the invading wrestler's music starts to play. Not like a surprise return of a wrestler, that makes sense. It bugs me when it happens from someone who's a regular and is supposed to come off as impromptu.
I Agree with that what?! chants take 😂
i think all wrestlers deserve to throw out cuss words when they are in a heated rivalry. it adds more to it and shows that they actually hate each other
With the Titantrons they could use fan made ones, I’m sure fans would love to be part of the shows. It would feel inclusive, how they’d go about getting that done idk.
def rebel really tends to pump out CAW music.
U forgot wrestlers watching tv on sideways angle they do everytime backstage
lol maybe they’ll be in part 2
Agree 100% on the titantrons. I've been hating what they have now since the very first day it was used. I believe Orton was the first one to have this kind of " tron " back in the days, around 2009 or 2010, where he would have an orange/red font with just RKO written in black. I was hating that so hard since the first day. Sadly, a lot of people seemed to love it. And Vince wanted that for everyone, cause he thought it was adding a sense of mystery, like, his thoughts was like " Without a video playing, people don't know what to expect from that person, so it keeps them on the edge of their seat for anything, pal " . Slowly, they started having that for everyone, by moving from the video, to this, one at a time.
The moment they stopped using actual stage sets, to only use screens everywhere ( and using that exact same " stage set " for both shows, and for PPVs too, taking away all personality for each of them ) , is, paradoxically, the moment they stopped using videos ( and therefore, stopped needed screens ) to simply use a jpg image with the wrestler's name written.
I've said it since 2009, if they're gonna do that, and not have real use for screens anymore since they're not playing videos, they should remove every screens since they're not needed anymore, and simply create a great looking stage set who doesn't have any screen. Either that, or, actually use those screens, by playing titantrons, real titantrons, video titantrons like in the late 90s, on them.
I disagree with you on the chants, though. I love hearing old chants ( like the What chants ) . It shows that people don't forget about those, and it's cool to see something from Legends surviving on TV, even long after they retired. Like, the " Wooooo " chant when a wrestler does a chop. Flair retired from WWE so many years ago, but, it's like he's still on TV every week, as people still remember him by doing it. The idea that even long after he's gone, his aura will forever be there, that he'll have left a little piece of him here on Earth. That even though people could've stopped doing it, stopped paying homage with that little thing a long time ago, but didn't, feels wholesome and warms my heart every time I hear it. Same goes for the What chant.
Agreed that people should get creative and also create new ones, though. Which, they did when Jey and Jimmy traded punches at WM 40, chanting " Yeet " when Jey punched, and " No " when Jimmy punched. Loved it, and made me wish they would trade punches more often in the match just for that. But, while they should come up with new ones, I don't want them to forget the old ones, nor stop using them. I love the idea of Flair always beeing remembered with the Woooo, Austin always be remembered with the What, and all.
it drives me crazy that no one blocks or dodges punches or kicks (specifically strikes). makes it look like a dance, when every single blow is right on the money or reversed into another strike or move. It comes across as more of a contest when people actually do a feel out like process like chain wrestling or how they do in boxing with strikes.
They burried my boy Sandow with his cash in, even though he got over. Then they tagged him with cody, and he got over. Then they made him dress as magneto…he got over. Made him Miz’ double…still got over. Then they fired him. Ol stubborn vince not liking when people like something he didn’t create or control.
Why has no show used For Whom The Bell Tolls- Metallica
the one fall thing is tradition. its been a thing in wrestling for many, many years.
