To be exact, it's a spinoff of Danger Mouse, which they also aired at one point. Just because it aired on NICK first doesn't mean they commissioned it. Count Duckula would've been the first-ever Nicktoon, long before Doug, The Ren & Stimpy Show and Rugrats. The most common definition is any series produced by Games / Nickelodeon Animation. That would exclude Count Duckula. However, if we extend the definition to any animated series produced by Nickelodeon then we could include Count Duckula. I consider Count Duckula a precursor to the Nicktoons.
I grew up watching Count Duckula on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and ran for about 5 years.
