the app tells you the distance and the weight of the lure and type of lure and also tells you number of cast you done ..pretty much makes a data logo for each settings depending on you lure and weight

Well agreed. Just another thing that makes the reel less reliable and less analog. I think what Shimano has got going on with their DC systems is the perfect mixture of modern and analog technology

as a person that knows a lot about battery.. this 410mah wont last you in the long run and specially on cold weather it wont hold its charge much long ..depending on use im sure this battery life span probably 2 years or less and capacity will degrade over time .. this cool but will see how the reviews and the long term use
all depends on if it gets recharged by casting or reeling in a lure

I seen this on Daiwa's Japan's website yesterday. While I live in Japan, I don't read it. My take is, this is a big leap in reel technology. You will have to keep the battery charged to use the cast control modes. You don't need to use the app to change the modes however as there is a button below the light for that. This reminds me when the "T3" was introduced with it's 3mode cast control and the new T-wing system. I would say it's a glimpse into Daiwa's future.
Well the reel is nice, I personally don't need a DC system so this isn't as exciting to me as others.
Shimano dc don’t even need a battery idk why they made it like this

the lights on it are the comparable to my light up shoes as a kid
Will the app be available on US app stores? And will it be able to have the language changed? Big concern there.
Lure east on UA-cam has shows one of a guy holding one doing a review of it so you can see how big it is and stuff
1k and battery that could get wet if not made right... it's cool no doubt and glad to see daiwa do something digital. Even if this reel by itself is top the line reel, I personally just don't see why you should pay 1k for app connect. Really does seem to me the cost is mainly to get back on development than reels actualy cost. But I guess we'll see when it comes out.

def a lot more sophisticated then the shimano DC in my opinion since u cant actually hook ur phone up to ur DC shimano like u can with the limit breaker but. I think for people who may not understand reel tuning may have even more difficulty using this reel. Unless they're making it super simple to tune on the phone and understand what setting is best for the weight ur casting.
Finally!!! As as waiting for DC for DAIWA,same as MQ for Shimano 😂😂😂❤❤❤
bottom settings tells you auto sleep mode and alert sounds can turn it off or on
I have a question :What are your thoughts about shimano Twin Power xd and certate lt 2019. Just as a compare, i m thinking about choosing one of those. Think I would benefit a lot from someone who is experienced with servicing, dismantling, and seeing how they are made internally. Cheers

The most innovative aspects of this reel are the following.
By connecting to a smartphone, a new braking mode can be installed on the reel.
Unlike Shimano's DC, this reel can always use the latest braking mode.
trade off is you have to charge it though...I love that I don't have to charge my DC reels.

hey reel test i like for you to cast battle your 🦂 dc or antarce dc against the new googan baitcaster reel to show which cast farther and if they kinda copied the Shimano casing. i had left a comment on 1 rod & reel video as well as lojo asking if they copied it , unfortunately none has responded back to me. i am personally a Shimano dc fan. i know you are the only one on UA-cam that does cast & comparison video's and i have actually learned alot from your videos. than you for all your content.

DC reels don't really appeal to me. I love my metaniums. I certainly don't think reels need lights for any reason. It's really unnecessary and " extra". I've got a new zillion sv tw that's also pretty sweet. Until something comes out that doesn't have that digital whine, or lights, and casts better than the 20' Mets or the zillion that's where I'll stay.

Maybe, but the Antares was terrible dealing with corrosion in the past. I am not sure if the new model got this fixed or not. The Exsence is the direct competitor.

This seems like the betamax of fishing reels, the tech is good but it's expensive, clunky and not suitable for easy use. Shimano's DC system is so elegant and practical as well as self powered.

My curado dc cast a mile 4 yrs old I think has no battery not that i replaced and cost 200 on sale that’s hard to beat but I not paid for or seen diawa patient pending law suit lol I wld like to try
I will stick with my current steez reels and my current antares dc reels and for that price I could pick up 3 steez or 2 antares dc reels plus that gear ratio is way to high

I just hope this lights a fire under Shimano who in my opinion have not really been progressing much with their DC tech in 20 years

Excellent video. It is a very significant fishing advancement since the RAYTHEON analog depth finder of the 1950's. I'm fairly sure there will be very few sales of it my generation. The fish don't have much of a chance now.

I’ve never found an advantage in the dc reels, it’s just extra weight. I have the new zillion fantastic reel that never backlashes. I started throwing a baitcaster when I was 10. 34 years later I’ve pretty well got them figured out and if I don’t no fancy pants reel is gonna help me. I use Lews, shimano, and Daiwa and very happy with all of them. I do believe you get what you pay for so I do tend to focus on the higher end models. I don’t take my phone fishing with me so I guess this is a dealbreaker for me and this reel.

Same way just a couple years older than you 😁 yup I can outcast ever person who has use dc reel next to me with any shinamo and lews tp reels. Can't justify using computer chip heavy bulky reels for me.
not sure about the whole charging your reel up ...if it gets me at least 4 hours of use then maybe ill try..i normal use 1 reel when i fish and wait 15 mins to charge while the fish are biting is a no go for me lol
It says it can get 800 casts from a charge. Idk how much that equates to in hours

I think it’s pretty cool, but honestly I think it’s overdone, shimano dc reels don’t need to be charged or connected to your phone. I can see some issues coming from this

I'll stick to my regular diawas with mag force z braking. Don't need smart mag force. Already the best brakes that exist, not digitally controlled. And I was nat impressed with DC. Loved the sound though.

So, how will this compare to the Daiwa HLC Reels? The size is more of a turn-off for me...
The last thing I want to do is pull my phone out to adjust my brakes. I go fishing to try to avoid the freaking phone in the first place. As of now I don't plan on giving up my 10 Exsence DCs. I even just picked up a new one and I'm not regretting it. Hopefully Daiwa will sell a lot so Shimano will have to react to some competition in this space.
Looks cool, but by God why does my fridge, vacuum, toaster and now fishing reel need Bluetooth and an app to use.

@@ChrisJu3 thats not bad.. but over time it will get less as the battery degrades..depending on use and storage and the voltage storage of the battery.. battery dont like to be fully charge stored or low..im sure this is running a lipo style battery and have a low voltage cut off or else battery will be killed after one charge.. im guessing this battery will have a life span of less then 2 years depending how much you cycle the battery and climate temp where its being used ... next thing you know your cast wont be like 800, it will go down as the battery capacity goes down over time . im sure its easy to replace and cheap
@@thatonebeone Given its price tag (125000 yen), it's more like a concept product. BTW, its operational temperature range is 0-40 degrees, it take 90 mins to get a full charge.

Hard pass. I’ll stick with DC. I don’t want to rely on my phone to adjust the braking. Seems ridiculous. My phone dies, then I’m fucked. DC automatically decides what I need, which is all anyone needs. The lights are neat tho.

I think it can NOT be called a DAIWA DC (as in DIGITAL CONTROL). There is a fair chance that SHIMANO has a patent on this technology AND the name DC made a concept and so its a protected trademark.
Baitrunner and a link with BR is protected according so.
You can call it Bite&Run, Bollie Robber or whatever but Baitrunner can't BE on a Reel with a FREE-Spool line release system.
After seeing this, i believe this is not a reel i can maintain like i did to shimano.
So now I have to have my phone charged to go fishing I don't know I'm waiting for you to make a video on this when my man like with it in your hand so I can see what it does cause I'm not sold is there only 4 modes

Lol Daiwa is the IPhone of reels. 1 old upgrade like C- plug port and its all new technology. All the lights they could have made it where u don't need to bring your phone and risk dropping it and a whole lot cheaper
