Lewie Dewie yea my uncle was in Delta Force for about 13 years late 90’s-09’ he said they do, not often but they do. He said they also just sometimes meet up and have beers and hang out
I am a retired US Officer. I was on an exchange program with 21 SAS in the 70's. I was extremely impressed with everything I was taught and brought back. I was wise enough to shut up and listen to everyone I met and trained with. It might be a difficult thing to deciide now, but my own heart will be with all my comrades in SAS.
Who the fuck cares? Both are comprised of some of the bravest and most elite warriors known to man. And both have fought side by side together. I'm proud of both. Why would you want to know whose better anyways? Do you foresee them fighting against each other? I don't.
+Chris Parker Agree mate, infact Delta and SAS pretty much do their missions together, in first gulf war delta and sas joined and completed missions together, and same since. Delta often train in Hereford with the regiment and SAS often train at Fort Bragg. They share ideas all the time. If they fourght each other be lucky if any would survive.
(on the original comment) Food for thought. It doesn't matter and the answer would differ depending. One is likely more successful but the other deploys more often and has saved more lives in total because of it etc. It's unlikely the two would ever come face to face anyway even if there was a war between the UK and US due to the nature of how they are deployed.
Actually A former SAS commander in Iraq stated to British Author Mark Urban (Task Force Black)...that he viewed Delta and Seal Team 6 as having surpassed the SAS. This the commander said had to do with the massive experience and innovative techniques the US had to use in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Urban was surprised at this admission.
So a " FORMER" SAS commander claims delta are better than SAS because of their technology... Yet Top Delta members who train & have trained with SAS 22 constantly claim the SAS training is harder the humiliation part of training is frighteningly more realistic & man for man SAS soldiers are more disciplined . Is there a name for this x SAS commander ?? Im English & without any country bias ,from what I've read both are really badass . Probably the two equally best special forces in the world . I find it hard to believe Delta has tech that the SAS doesn't have. All seem to agree the SAS are more experienced , being formed in 1941 and delta 1977 , being trained by and basing themselves on the SAS. But imo I would think its 50-50 between the two forces
I agree with Chris Parker, there is no "Better" they are all competent and have similar capabilities, determination, skill and courage. Glad to see some Aussie SAS in the mix. And considering the difference in resources, the Kiwis are a capable bunch too. Our SF units are a great complementary crew; competitive yes, but trying to stay one is better than the other is only ever a question for wannabes. We just need to be grateful that our allied nations have such units, able to work together, almost seamlessly interoperate and get the hard jobs done. Respect.
Selection into the SAS is one of the toughest selection processes in the world. There is less than a 10% pass rate And you only get two bites of the cherry, if you fail on your second attempt you cannot apply again. These guys really are the best of a already well trained army.
I honestly don't know why these arguments are even here....don't these guys like train together? I get some of you are trying to show pride for you're nation and I respect that but really? I don't see the point. As an American I will be the first to tell you that the SAS did train pretty much all of delta force back in the day...and the SAS are the baddest of the bad. So some of you gung go tema delta guys here need to calm down except the fact that the Delta is pretty much inspired by the SAS. As for some of you Britain guys here showing off the SAS calm down....we commend you for creating a world example known as the SAS but some of you Brits need to stop acting like big dogs...we get it the SAS are badass. But fact is you need America just as much as we need you. Both sides of the arguments on here don't even matter cause get what?!?! They train together.....
Well said, its just petty and stupid. At the end of the day, any special ops unit from a developed nation is a force to be reckoned with. Its not like these guys actually sit around talking about who the best is....its laughable.
The Brits are prone to making the claim that since SAS was first and since Delta was originally modeled after them that, by definition, the SAS is better. A few paragraphs from “Shaping the World From the Shadows” by Chris Martin: Historically at least, the SAS could best be described as Delta Force’s parent organization… A common thread runs throughout Task Force Black (aka British SAS arm of JSOC’s operations in Iraq) that makes it difficult not to come away with the impression that the units’ relationship has since evolved. Today they seem to exist almost like siblings with Delta- backed by the enormous might and budget of the United States military machine (and JSOC in particular) - playing big brother to the SAS’s little brother. Besides merely wanting in on some of Delta’s action, the SAS’s commanding officer at the time, Lt. Col. Richard Williams, openly admired General McChrystal and was described as an unabashed Americanophile who “would probably have preferred to have commanded Delta”. He constantly challenged Task Force Black (mockingly referred to as “Task Force Slack” prior to JSOC integration) to match the pace and intensity of the Americans. And when the SAS was at its most lethal, (Mark) Urban described it as “operating in the style of Delta”. So there you have it. it could be a matter of opinion but Delta Force on average has more experience and real combat warfare and are backed by the most technologically advanced and most powerful military the world has ever seen. Delta Force and DEVGRU are at a higher tier than the SAS.
The SAS are the originals; they invented the techniques which Delta Force now emulate. The SAS are the archetype of all modern special forces units, and are the standard by which all others are measured. The SAS were kicking ass and taking names while the founders of Delta Force were still in nappies.
webdesignerguy You're argument is dangerously similar to Rome and Greece, Rome adopted Greece's combat, religious and political methods and beliefs and edited them to what they preferred and then Rome grew stronger than Greece and Greece was then conquered and made part of the Roman Empire. SAS may be the founding force of all SPEC OPS Units, but that does NOT necessarily make them the best of all SPEC OPS Units.
There's no such thing as the best but the SAS is the most experienced special forces unit in the world. They will carry out missions the Americans won't touch.
Really? U wanna give me some examples of that? Cause I can quote u a particular senior US general that had to literally BEG the British to send the SAS to assist in missions that DELTA and the SEALs had been doing for YEARS by themselves in Iraq because the Brits were too scared of casulaties to allow the SAS to participate.
trpilot6 Hey Pilot! How the hell are ya? Still a low altitude flyer? So suppose you tell us how effective all these missions they'd been supposedly doing for years by themselves were? I guess the fact that we've had to send the SASR back into Iraq to spot for the Yank Airforce means not very effective, wouldn't you say?
neuterallrednecks Hmmmm Say! would that be the SASR "4 squadron" in Iraq neuter? Ya know, that (little) extension of the SASR that was practically inspired and conceived do too watching past JSOC operations (in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, North Africa ect..) The same unit that "Australian Sean Naylor" said that "4 squadron" looked at the JSOC model and adopted the same concept ???...Doh!
trpilot6 I was probably exaggerating my claim but certainly in the past that would have been true. Recently US Generals said that if the SAS leave Afghanistan the Taliban will take over. You'd think the Americans would be capable of fighting without SAS assistance in Iraq and Afghanistan, wouldn't you? That's why the SAS are regarded as the best, because of their experience and history of success. That counts for something.
Quote: "What the Americans did was one of the most amazing military achevements Ive ever witnessed." "Out numbered 30:1 theres no way anyone should have made it out alive, let alone 32." Sgt. Morgan Jones- British Blue Mountain Security in Benghazi With only 12 trigger pullers, the JSOC & GRS operators faced over 300 Ansar Al-Sharia insurgents. No air support & no artillery. At dawn over 100 enemy bodies littered the ground. Just one more American battle that puts Mirbat to shame.
Wait, is that same Lt. Col. Williams who was quoted as being "desperate to improve fighting effectiveness of the SAS." so that they start operateing quote: "In the style of DELTA"?? Is it the same Lt. Col. Williams whos own men said he would much rather be commanding DELTA than the SAS?? Sounds like a good bloke, that Williams.
In 2010 (I think) a SAS fire team were sent into Iraq. The fire team was made up of nine men. They were resting in a village when a convoy of opposing forces rolled in. This was made up of five hundred men. The nine man fire team lasted in that village for six hours before running out of ammo, and being forced to fall back, they were cut down as they ran , but the three that were left, pulled out sidearms and fought until they were overrun and eventually killed.
SAS and Delta are both equally effective and badass, I don't see it being a who's better match. Props for SAS being the original gangsters but Delta has developed in its own while using SAS as a starting format. So yeah, SAS were first, but long story short, they do the same kick ass ops with the same mentality and type of intensive training.
SAS have carried out more operations than the Delta Force. SAS is in the hundreds and Delta hasn't surpassed 100 operations. SAS will roll Delta anytime and anywhere.
Who on Earth told you that BS?? U got some kind of source for that, or like most of ur posts is that a number ur just pulling out of thin air?? Surley, being u know this information, u have a complete list of missions w/ dates and locations, yeah? Jesus, that stament alone should bar u from ever discussing this topic again. First off every founding member of DELTA was an SF Vietnam veteran, most w/ MACVSOG, and ran hundreds and hundreds of missions in North/South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. They dont just lose that experience when they join DELTA. Thats all besides the point anyway being that DELTA ran thousands, literally THOUSANDS, of missions just in the 9 years they were in Iraq, genius. Read Gen. McChrysrtals book, at the height of the Iraq War JSOC was running upwards of 10 missions per NIGHT! Admiral McRaven himself came right out and said on the night DEVGRU took out Bin Laden that JSOC ran 11 other missions just in Afghanistan night alone. Thats to say nothing of JSOC missions in the rest of the world. So unless u know better than the 2 most senior and well respected officers in SF history then shut ur gob .
boxer wayne You again? lol "Wow you are amazing look up all the operations the SAS has been in since 1940s to 2011." And why the hell would he do that boxer wang? Its completely irrelevant! Your insight on the Regiment and its evolution is nothing short of pathetic. You do realize there is a big fundamental difference between David Stirlings "SAS of WW2" and the recommissioned "22" SAS that was reborn in the Malayan Emergency right?! They are two *completely different* units with VERY different taskings and expectations for their times. Christ, terrorism was not even a known definition in Stirlings day let alone a international threat, therefore how the hell could the "SAS" have any experience in that arena of warfare?? lol Your SAS did not develop a real interest in "counter terrorism and CQB" until the the 1972 Olympic Munich massacre, where the for the most part the "whole world" saw the future of terrorism and the danger of its cloak and dagger methods. The only real "experience" the 22 SAS had to show was a hand full of operations in NI against the IRA. Practically a splinter comparing that to the Veitcong or Islamic terrorism lol. But besides the point, Delta Force is almost just as old as the 22 SAS. Fuck, Delta shares just as much history with MACV SOG and the OSS of ww2 just as much as 22 SAS shares with David Stirlings originals lol. With that said "wang" your argument is "once again" 100% BS. Just like that media story you have posted for the 50th time. That op claiming that your 22 SAS went on to save that CIA agent is absolutely fabricated BS. Thats coming from a VERY old tabloid, with "ZERO "on the ground sources" to back it up. I have already exposed the BS reasons it gave with (the Balkans) i.e as the US SF actually had more experience in the Balkans then the 22 SAS did. thats a "FACT." In "FACT", since you seem to be using so much of Mich Smiths words lately, you can read a little further and learn about that famous embarrassment of SAS SM. Cedric Delves and how his SAS unit was discovered at a Serb check point in Sarajevo. Instead of bringing him and his men in for questioning they were forced to exit their "undercover" hatch back and ordered to strip down to their boxers. According to Regiment history Delves speedo barred a large Union Jack!,,,,,, Who dares Wins?? lololol Now,, close that gob of yours and piss off.
Joes GotYa Wow there goes knuckle fuck again! Looking up the operations the SAS has been involved in and compare to delta will identify who has been around the longest and done more covert operations as a SF unit that there will show who has more experience and knowledge. David Stirling formed the SAS in 1941 before Beckwith even reached puberty. Meadows was still cuddling up to his mommy and occasionally sucking on her titties when the SAS were carrying out secret covert missions. Beckwith and Meadow were still kiddies dreaming of war stories when the SAS were carrying out raids and covert operations in North Africa, Italy, Greece, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Norway etc...The originals formed the platform of what is expected of a SF operator in fact for your information this is what the Delta commander of 1990 have to say about David Stirling... "We of the Delta Force have built upon your philosophies, organisation and operational concepts in creating this unit. Your principles and ideas. Your principles and ideas are as sound today as they were in world war two. The common bond between the special forces of the Western world is that we all trace our roots back to you". From the commander of the US Delta Force to David Stirling, on the occasion of his being made a Knight Bachelor in 1990. Now you are saying the originals SAS and 22SAS are different? You are a retarded moron for saying that but even better the Delta Force upholds David Stirling with utmost respect! Andy Mcnab in his book Seven Troop has this to say: Delta Force was the US equivalent to the SAS. The unit was started by colonel Charles beckwith in 1977. Following the disastrous operation in 1980 to free the hostages in Iran (EAGLE CLAW). Delta had been totally remodelled along SAS lines with a lot of input from Hereford. If the Delta Force was amazing how come hostages were killed in the Iranian conflict? If Delta Force was so good like you said why did they look to the SAS for help after the failed rescue of hostages in Iran? Isn't that pathetic and absurd? That's right the SAS showed them how its done in Mogadishu rescue and op nimrod. The counter terrorism training was initiated after the Munich incident in 1972. The SAS started incorporating room clearances for all type of structures whether it is on ship, bus, plane and various types of buildings. Guess where Delta was when the SAS were doing room clearances and conducting training on hostage type scenarios? I'll tell you where they were still in Beckwith's nutsacks and meadows ball sacks waiting to come into existence. Oh by the way when Delta was forming in 1977 two SAS personnel orchestrated the rescue mission of German hostages who were taken captive by four Palestinians in a Lufthansa airlines. The Germans GSG9 carried out the rescue with the plan put into place by SAS Major Alastair Morrison and Sergeant Barry Davies. The rescue was a success based on SAS tactics. Whereas Delta fucked up in eagle Claw branded as Goat Fuck by Jerry King former USSF commander in Vietnam who remarked that the SAS taught him how to walk again. Operation Nimrod was the real deal! The first time the whole world gets to see what the SAS is all about. Unlike Delta in 1980 in fact Operation Nimrod occurred the same time. The Tehran hostage crisis happened in April 24th 1980 which took Delta 6 months of detailed planning and resulted in Goat shit. Operation Nimrod occurred in April 30 1980 and was neutralised in May 5th 1980 with success by the SAS. That there is what you call experience and the best SF in the world. The SAS are not only good at CQB which started in 1970's. Prior to that they were well trained in Jungle warfare, air infiltration, covert operations, mountaineering, dessert wrafare and many more. The SAS are the ones responsible for destroying more planes than what the air force did in world war two in North Africa, now that there is similar to hunting down scud missiles in the gulf, disrupting CT's movement in Malaya, disrupting Indonesians from entering Borneo, whupping the argentines, fucking up IRA etc. The SAS became a territorial unit after world war two because Britain government thought the unit Is no longer needed after WW2. From 1946 to 1949 the SAS continued its training at territorial level until 1950 when Britain decided to reinstate the regiment to what it was in the world wars in preparation for the Korean war. However their service were not needed in Korea. In 1950 the Malayan conflict erupted which saw the involvement of SAS however rather than naming it solely as SAS the regiment was renamed as the 22SAS. Now you say the originals were different than the 22SAS how different? the selection process conducted by Stirling sets the platform and its still practiced in this era, people needs to pass selection and cycle of training in order to be badged which is still continuing there are minor changes to the procedures as time evolves of course you have to adapt with time but the tenets, concepts and philosophies initiated by Stirling is still there and widely considered essential by the SAS even Delta utilises the philosophies of stirling. The two world wars involved the whole world and the SAS was part of WW2. Whilst Delta was still non-existent its like a sperm swimming in your nutsacks waiting for it to be secreted into your mums cunt in order for a human to be formed yeeyah. Oh Delta share as much history as Mac V SOG or OSS? how can Delta share same history as the alluded groups when they are non existent throughout the world wars and various wars after world war two. You are the best of fuckwits I've ever come across basically a sore loser that would not admit that Delta Force is a copied version of the SAS and that they are no the best! Lmao! Ask president Bush about the CIA agent that got rescued. I bet you he will tell you straight up but you wont believe Mr Bush because the truth hurts you badly. Media personnel are at the forefront of all wars and they are the ones who gets to see things first hand. The article speaks for itself but truth hurts you to the core. The British SAS prefer keeping things secret before all the SAS personnel involved in the CIA rescue have left the regiment. when the four SAS personnel are released from the 22SAS they are now able to reveal what happened in the CIA rescue. It wont be long before one of the guys involved will write a book about it same as all other operations that are finally revealed. Commander Delves was the man responsible for attacks on pebble island in the Falklands hence he was tasked to command in the joint operations in Bosnia. It was a visit to Sarajevo not a combat mission or covert operation that led to the Serbs. The SAS were escorting someone to Sarajevo and the Serbs stopped them. Now to visit a Serbs infested area is a sign of guys with steel balls. They were stopped by Serbs not a Serb now if you encounter hundreds of Serbs armed beyond your small arms there is no way you can fight that. They were basically stopped and stripped down by the Serbs just to piss around with them if the Serbs would have wanted to kill them they would have done that. Sir de la Biliere gave a good account about SAS in Bosnia and regarding that incident with Delves. According to de la Biliere the Serbs knew who the Brits were supporting in the conflict but they had a lot of respect for the four SAS that walked into Sarajevo without even being afraid of the Serbs considering they were the enemy. The US were so scared to deploy their SF in Bosnia because of the failure encountered in Somalia which was a total fuck up with lots of body bags. The Brits accepted the task at hand and went to work with snatching war criminals. Devgru was pulled out because the US government did not want the repeat of Somalia. Guess who kept going and never pulled out in the Bosnian conflict oh it was the SAS!.. Now Fuckstick do everyone a favour and fuckoff you have made a fool of yourself by saying that SAS and 22SAS are two different things the only difference is time. Now go and latch onto your mamas titties and remember that the SAS rules Delta. Geez I keep schooling your trashy ass! Eat it up sucker yeeyah!
Joes GotYa "where the for the most part the "whole world" saw the future of terrorism and the danger of its cloak and dagger methods" Well the whole world except of the US. Just to name a few attacks on the US since Munich...Hostages in Iran, Marine Barracks in Beruit, PAN AM bombing, attack on WTC 1993, USS Cole, Kenyan Embassy, 9/11, Boston Marathon. Jesus, just as well you guys saw the danger of its cloak and dagger methods! Btw, how much more money and manpower went into fighting the VC and 'Islamic Terrorism'? Result? A big duck egg! Has the US influence in World affairs ever been so low? Iraq's tragic, Afghanistan's not much better, Putin regularly moons you, China does what it wants, Assad give you the bird but most demeaning of all, Obama's rimming that Nazi Netanyahu's arse while Bibi cracks jokes about Kerry's cosmetic surgery. It's very sad to happen to the country that gave us Lincoln and MLK. But shit hey, JSOC did 10 missions a night in Iraq! :)
Still going on about the IRA being nothing in comparison to the VietCong? Interesting Joe, it astounds me that so many Americans have the inability to absorb fact trait. Where was Delta's experience when it involved rescuing a British hostage and instead blowing her up with a grenade? Or when the SAS and the SEALs deployed on a joint rescue mission to rescue 3 hostages, the SAS taking out all 11 hostage takers with no casualties, meanwhile the SEALs assaulted an empty cave? Reminds me of the heroic "rescue" of Jessica Lynch after she single handedly took on 55,000 Iraqis with a pistol and Bowie knife before being knocked unconscious, tortured for 72 days, raped and beaten to within an inch of her life. Yeah Delta went in there and wiped the floor with the doctors and nurses taking care of her in a secure hospital with no Iraqi soldier in sight. Delta get scarier with every story you read into about them. Terrifying.
Those guys guarding Schwartzkopf were actually a division of US Army CID, volunteers from among MPs who are specifically trained to be bodyguards. They are rarely if ever parachute or scuba qualified or speak foreign languages. As specialized personnel, they do what they do full time and will have skills in their own specific tasks which are superior to "Delta" personnel. All of this bullshit cheerleading over "famous" units and speculative comparisons is highly disrespectful to those in "regular" service who accomplish their missions and do their jobs when everything gets attributed to special operations units.
If they're both already the "best" among every other military group. The elite. Then it's only natural to won't to know who's the best among the best. So yes we can. If people already deemed them the best, then which of the best is better, more efficient, more deadly than the other?
The Yanks think they are the best. The Brits think they are the best. The French think they are the best. The Germans think they are the best. The Danes think they are the best, And so on, and so on ad nauseum. The fact of the matter is that the SAS is still the benchmark, along with the Israelis. The difference between the SAS and Delta, is that (a) the SAS have more experience and fewer failures and (b) they have greater breadth of expertise than Delta Force.
Evil Storm Perhaps in your opinion, but the Entebbe hostage rescue carried out the the Israelis is regarded by many as the greatest of all time. Touch and go, for the number one spot with the SAS Operation Barras.
Evil Storm OMG you know less than I thought you did. The Sayeret Matkal did it all, including recon, as they were set up as a recon unit, circa The Fifties, their name meaning 'Scouts'. Owing to political pressure, the SAS did not involve themselves with Israel's SF at that time, although it was rumoured that they liaised via back channels. The Israelis only got any real assistance from the Kenyans for refueling and hospital facilities in the event of serious casualties, and as a more stabilising form of treatment than that provided by the air facilities. FYI, the SAS do not and have not been involved in every single hostage rescue in the world, although prior to Iranian Embassy, they accompanied GSG9 on the Mogadishu rescue. The Israelis have always done their own rescues, as far back as Lod, and they even offered to do the infamous Tehran hostage rescue for the Americans which we all know ended in disaster and embarrassment for Delta Force and The USA. Why don't you try and give credit where it is due? Entebbe was not just "pretty good" as you put it. It brought about a rethink in hostage rescue for the world's SF units.
Nah. Sas still better. Why don't you tell us about why Ur people hate America and why you have expensive healthcare. See, Brits find Americans pathetic. Tell me why seals and Delta force rely on UK training as well
@@thenibblershow5305 .. Lol What training are you specifically talking about? We sure as hell know it’s not training in how to find and kill bad guys lol. 20 years of the GWOT, and nobody can name a single HVT that UK SF have unilaterally taken off the battle field.
@@thenibblershow5305 The GOWT after 9/11 changed the structure and charter of both UK and US SF overnight, and that template that Beckwith emulated from 22 SAS to shape Delta force in 1979 no longer exists anymore. You dont seem to understand that the original Delta Force based it's role on the Cold War era 22 Regiment, and that role consisted of being a organization geared for rare, episodic crisis and strategic situations. They were never designed to be used as a main effort in a global war on extremism, which is exactly how SOF units were utilized after 9/11. Except it wasn’t the UK SF that evolved 1st into this role. It was American JSOC that saw the future and changed as an organization, and it was the UK SF that hesitated and went stagnant as warfare evolved. The modern UK SF of toady and it’s support and intelligence mechanisms within are mirror emulations of US JSOC.
@@joesgotya9930 True. UKSF is all talk no work. And this is according to their own commanders and journalists. They also have to rely on JSOC's funds and resources cuz Brits actually got nothing and majority of the stuff they got is from other nations lol
+Alpha Fort only feckin grown up comment here.... all sf training is more or less the same i know a guy in the sf he has trained in both france and the usa.. in fact all western military train together now
+Alpha Fort Task Force Black is a joint Delta and SAS unit(with some other ingredients in the mix)which has been conducting missions in Syria for some time now. In fact Task Force Black were responsible for putting down Jihadi John. Currently there is absolutely no difference between the SAS/SBS &Delta/DEVGRU. The selection/training pipelines follow different paths, but by the time one reaches a position in a SAS/SBS-DELTA/DEVGRU unit where you're more than a member of the "practice squad", the training received and capability obtained... is identical. People that proclaim superiority for any of these units, if not playfully joking, are simply ignorant wankers. Many other countries have operators with the same level of training and capability as the best from the UK & US as well.
Its not a question of who is more legendary,,, Its a question of who is the better Unit.... My money is on US JSOC,, However,, if you think about it ,when are these Units ever working without other different Units working with them?.. One operation in Iraq or Afghanistan could have shooters from Delta, some SAS shooters in the mix , AF CCT,s ISA , and a CIA SAD officer with Peshmerga or Afghan SF .,, all on the same mission lol..... Unlike in the 80s and 90s, you really dont see teams made up of one Unit anymore .... Its now about building (smarter) teams, with the perfect mix of capabilities and talents.... It was Stanly McCrystal and JSOC that really started this new concept... His book "Team of Teams"sheds a lot of light on this.
The interesting thing with DevGru "SEAL TEAM 6", is that they are one of the few SF units in the world that did not adopt the British Special Forces Selection pipe line ... They call their pipe line (Green Team) and its about the farthest thing from SAS selection that a Tier 1 Unit can get.... Not saying that is a (good or bad thing).. Its just a different culture and history.
Knowing we (the U.S) and the U.K are allies and we have the best two teams on the planet helps me sleep well at night. These two teams are brothers from a different mother.
To make this video better, it really can't be determined by images. I would've put like statistics up like deployment rate, number of sucessful operations and failed operations. Time in training, death toll, etc.
blueray1969 You can easily find these statistics by a simple google search. A lot of information regarding the 1st SFO-D and SAS is not classified and a lot of information about casualties and successful operations can be found, smart ass.
blueray1969 It's not that important to me, you're the one who responded with the smart ass remark. So, if this discussion is not important to you, because it is not to me, than do it yourself. Have a good one.
+Caedus Actually no, most SAS casualties are classed as a death in their parent unit, for example if an SAS Trooper from the Para Regiment was killed in Afghan, more than likely he would be called his "true" rank, ie if he was a CPL or something then name then of the Paras.
lololol Pleez go into a little more depth on how the SAS trained Delta Force?? Most of Deltas plank owners during the the 1970s were in Hereford training SAS such as MACV SOG team leaders Richard Meadows, Major Sydor, Bull Simmons, Peter Schoomaker in current combat lessons on recce, patrolling, field medical, E&E and survival. Former SAS trooper Allen Hoe said himself that American SF played a huge role in molding some of the best SAS NCOs to come out of that generation. Now,, plz so kindly list "one" technique or procedure that SAS "trained" Delta Force in? :)
audiomashup "ONE = kill House (pioneered by the SAS)" lololol The Kill house "today" im afraid is nothing more then a series of practice structures for urban warfare princess. The SAS rarely ever used them for planning REAL assaults. In fact what the SAS later learned was the Kill house creates more complacency then anything else,, as most "live" structures are assaulted with unknown floor plans anyway lol. Its why JSOC practices in "free flow" room clearing..Which "actually" trains the operator to naturally look for threats based on human nature and not follow a pre conditioned course. lol Congrats, your SAS invented bad habits that nobody uses anymore lol.
Joes GotYa Hello Joe, persistent reports from inside Raqqa of an aborted US SF raid there on Jan1 despite US Military denials. See what comes out in a month or so.
neuterallrednecks Yep, supposedly they were after that downed Jordanian pilot. If anything it sounds more or less the same mission template used in the last Spring raid to find James Folly,, working with Jordanian Operators,,who btw are some pretty hard core dudes from what i have read? We will see. Either way, im expecting a warm visit from my buddy Phill! lolol
SAS are the cream of the cream in the special forces!!. The british have a long tradition with clandestine and covered operations, while americans just at the beginning of their independence war against the british drilled down some special forces as comandoes, the so-called Rangers. The definitive training that americans received was in Achnacarry, Scotland to match and standarize the skills and expertise of british against germans. SAS were a revolution in that time, and later they proved their skills in Malasia, Vietnam (as training officers, like the green berets), Falklands, Yemen, North Ireland. During the first gulf war they carried out tracking and then neutralized Scud missiles along with Deltas. In Afghanistan they were engaged to hunt Bin Laden again with Delta Force and DEVGRU, always in the front line of conflicts giving not only one, but many hands to their american cousins!!!.
Some of the places I frequent here in the middle east, I recognize some of these Delta (CAG)/SAS guys around...certainly silent professionals no doubt. It really doesn't matter whose better, i'm just glad they're on our side... Semper Fi bros... Sgt. E. 9 yr USMC vet - 0311
@@greenjacket4471 ok noted mate, I was going to join the Army and I would have joined the RGJ as I was in the RGJ as a cadet, but my plans changed and I never joined up, best of luck anyhow.
Heres an interesting story. Although this has been known for a while, the DoD just confirmed 2 DELTA operators were awarded the nations second highest award for Valor...the Distingushed Service Cross & Navy Cross for their actions in Benghazi. Heres the interesting part, the DELTA operator who recieved the Navy Cross was a US Marine. This seems to lend credence to the story of 2 JSOC operators fighting their way into the hospital controled by Ansar Al-Shria to recover the Ambassadors body.
Wait. So US Marines are now part of both Delta and JSOC? Makes sense, just look at how useless US Marines are. Oh, and it's Valour, you're speaking English, buddy. Do it properly.
Is that supposed to be impressive? I mean don't the Yanks award the Purple Heart for stubbing your toe whilst on active duty, or accidentally hitting your thumb with a hammer while trying to erect bunk beds?
Tony, why don't you get educated and watch the latest episode of BBC's Panorama. It talks about the newly released information surrounding an extremely top secret unit called the MRF during the troubles. So secret not even senior British Army leaders knew about it. They'd dress as homeless people, bin men and God knows what else, except they'd be armed to the teeth. Did you know the IRA planted on average 5 bombs a day?
John Smith mmm...again, having to revert back to something that happened over 40 yrs ago in order to make urself seem relavent. While JSOC is CURRENTLY active all over the world, u constantly grasp at actions of a distant past. This is all besides the point anyway seeing as how the only reason the so called MRF is even in the news is because they consistantly gunned down dozens of unarmed innocent civilians. How elite!
This will explain everything. American Special Forces have (delta force, navy seal) has the same training with British Special Forces (SAS, SBS) as America's training is derived from British SAS. They may have the same set of skills but British SAS is way more complicated as they have the most experience behind enemy lines. There are many US missions that SAS/SBS has done because America's Special Forces can't handle it. Like the rescue of a CIA agent that is about to be tortured. John Mcaleese was one of the 4 SAS men who rescued him. They were given award that only American scientists can have. SAS/SBS handling most difficult missions that why they should not be recognized unless they're out of service.
"British SAS is way more complicated as they have the most experience behind enemy lines." How on Earth can u justify that statment after the last 13 years of constant combat by the US against what is probably the best guerrilla fighters the world has ever seen? And the very brief time that the SAS saw any real action in Iraq it was under the direct command and supervision of JSOC. DELTA is busy being awarded Distinguished Service Crosses for ACTUALLY fighting terrorists, snatching HVT's out of Libya, and is currently operating against ISIS in Iraq, while the SAS is currently riding the bench back in the UK doing jack shit except trying to figure how how to get seconded to DELTA.
trpilot6" probably the best guerrilla fighters the world has ever seen"...ie another poorly equipped, third world force shafting the US. I s'pos you far right nutters are consistent........consistently fucking up every place you choose to try US hegemony. Hey did ya see Jon Stewart bitch slap McCain, Chenney etc? Fucking funny!
Jesus Tony you're still alive and kicking? Fuck sake I thought we'd said farewell to you months ago. Here's something interesting, just because we don't announce every continent our Special Forces are sent to, doesn't mean they're not there. Can you explain to me, other than dick waving, what benefit it was telling the world you'd send Special Forces to Iraq? Also, best Guerrilla fighters the world has ever seen? Hmm the IRA might have something to say about that one... Oh wait, they don't exist anymore thanks to HM Armed Forces! The only thing we know about the UKSF is that they're going to be staying in Afghanistan after 2014 to continue mopping up. No use telling the world where they're headed unless we want to do what you Yanks love doing and practically paint targets on their heads.
trpilot6 Do you know the bread and butter of any special force is intelligence gathering... Which is what the SAS spend 90% of their time doing. This way the 10% of time in combat is correct and clean. There're a couple of documentaries that you should watch on the SAS... It should be a good watch for anyone.
John Smith IRA?? Please tell me thats a joke. Name for me a few of the great battle that took place between the IRA and UKSF. The IRA...hahaha. When it comes to ACTUALLY fighting guerrillas, terrorists, and counter insurgencies, ur experience is litterally laughable when compared to the ACTUAL battles the US has fought against REAL fighters like the Viet Cong, Al-Qeada, the Taliban, and the Somali's (Al-Shabaab /SNA). Show me the time when 200 IRA fighters attacked a British military base. Show me the time the IRA was able to take the fight ANYWHERE beyond tiny little NI. Show me the example of when the IRA was able to conquere entire countries like the Taliban, the Viet Cong, the SNA, or ISIS (Al Qeada). You cant, because the IRA are a joke compared to the REAL terrorists the US has been fighting and crushing for the last 50 years while u ride our coatails since u'll never have the balls to fight these kinds of terrorists on ur own. Meanwhile while the SAS waltzes home from Afghanistan, leaving DELTA & DEVGRU to continue the fight, a full DELTA squadron has just been deployed back into Iraq to lead the Iraqis in thier fight against ISIS
Please stop trying to compare America to Hollywood. Many Americans hate Hollywood for how it portrays Americans as wannabe action heroes and you’re just going along with the stereotype.
Funny, I didn't know DETLA operators flew helicopters. But ur right, they could deff learn a thing or two about helicopter operations, I mean look at those amazing chopper insertions that UKSF pulled off during the Falklands! That great cross decking operation, the rescue attempts on Fortuna Glacier, that fantastic Sea King helicopter operation into Argentina where the SAS had to run for their lives & the pilots were captured & put on national TV...yep we could deff learn a few things!
Comparing the 2 is like comparing apples and oranges...both are elite tier 1...either could win on any given day if they had to battle it out. They are both good and get tasks and missions completed. enough said.
@@jackcloud4728 this is an old comment, I don't know what other Elites get but I know the Average spent to get a NZSAS trained up with personal gear & ammo less wages is $1.2 million for each solider. $95k including wages for standard NZ army infantry puts into perspective the difference in money invested between a private and an elite solider.
SAS wins without a doubt they were formed way before the delta force and the level of experience supersedes the delta force. SAS type training was copied by the yanks. Experience is the difference delta and SAS
Ur right "experience is the difference between delta and SAS" and no one is more experienced in the last 13 years of the most intense Counter Terror operations in military history than DELTA & ST6. And nothing shows that more clearly than the operational outcome of TF 145 in Iraq. The SAS/SBS had a total of about 300 terrorists killed and about 3000 captured (all under the command and control of JSOC I might add). During that same period of time, operating in the same area, against the same enemy DELTA & DEVGRU killed over 3000 terrorists w/ 9000 or so captured. Yes, experience IS the difference my friend.
trpilot6 In fairness on the COIN side of things, British military protocol is some of the finest and has been adopted by many nations after the success of OP BANNER in Northern Ireland... 30 years of it helped to shape current standards of numerous militaries in the world. You don't have to be special forces to excel in Counter Insurgency, ask any old Rhodesian.
@ tripilot you forgot to mention 22SAS involvement in Oman, Malaya, world war 2, Falklands, Vietnam, Northern Ireland etc.... A US soldier trained in NZ during the 70's and he went through the NZSAS training and he honestly spoke about the way SAS training was far more superior than that of the US because the US failed miserably in Vietnam . NZSAS is an offspring of the 22SAS. Experience the 22SAS gained prior to the Iraq and Afghan war supersedes what the delta and seals are trying to do. Once again years of experience in all types of fighting in different terrains whether in the jungle, desert or ocean will see the SAS on top. prior to the Deltas establishment in the late 70's SAS was carrying out secret missions worldwide for a good 30 or more years and that is where the experience comes into play.
boxer wayne You do realize that the SAS were just as influenced by US special forces as they were on us right? Take Richard Meadows and Cpt. Sydor for example. In the late 60s both men were sent to Hereford to "train" SAS NCOs in current combat lessons taken from thier SOG experience in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Meadows was actually appointed the head training cadre member for their combat Survival course and also instructed on the latest patrolling and field medical procedures. He also provided insight on recce in cross boarder operations (Something SAS never did, or had too deal with in Malay). The SAS also adopted the pistol shooting stance "the weaver" originally conceived by US law enforcement and honed by US SF. Read the Meadows Biography "The Quiet Professional" written by none other then a (former SAS trooper) Allen "Spike" Hoe. And finaly you do realize that over that past 2 decade the British and even Aussie and Nz SAS regs have followed the American JSOC concept? The amount of experience that Delta and Devgru have gained since 911 practically wipes the floor with any other SF to date. Though Delta Force was initially patterned on the SAS in the late 1970s, its quite a different world today in case you havnt noticed. During Iraq 2003-2006 the SAS "TF Black" painfully struggled to match the mission tempo of Delta. Doing up to 10 raids a night against the Zarqawi Network while the SAS were averaging a disappointing (5 a week.) In fact, the SAS Lt Col of "TF Black" Richard Williams often mocked is own operators with the nickname TF Slack. Its also worth mentioning that the SAS and other SF commands have adapted many of the procedures and tactics from US tier 1 units over the years. Such as "free flow room clearing", a combat proven method of clearing buildings with unknown floor plans. Combat dogs are another example. Delta were actually sent to Hereford to train SAS dog handlers to fast rope and and even HALO jump in tandem with trained Dogs. The Brits SRR and Aussie 4 squadron was modded and inspired by the US ISA recon teams. Learning the latest in "RDF" or Radio Telemetry from our operators. A mobile SIGNIT capability that has become possibly the #1 most effective intelligence gathering tool in GWOT. The uk SFSG was inspired by the role of the US 75th ranger regiment, the Uk SF Aviation wing comes to the US to get training from our 160th night stalkers (the most experienced SF Helo pilots in the world.) The pics you see on google of SAS/ Grom/JTF2 operators with their pistol holsters on their plate carriers,,,, lol that originated from DELTA! ,,,,,,,,,I could go on, and on and on and on.
Lmao! Delta the best? they f..kn choked in Tehran a failed operation carried out by the US SF in trying to rescue the hostages in 1980. They failed miserably just like Vietnam. 22SAS showed how its done in Malaya when fighting the Indonesians trying to invade Malaysia. The SAS basically annihilated the Indos in Jungle warfare dismantling all the Indonesians efforts to take over Malaysia. The SAS saved Malaysia from being invaded by the Indos. Unlike the US SF that choked in Vietnam resulting in North Vietnam taking over South Vietnam supported by US. The SAS were very crafty in jungle warfare even the viet cong labelled the NZSAS as the grey ghost in the dark. 22SAS is and has been recorded as the first SF to be established as an elite fighting unit. The wars which occurred after world war two such as the Malaya war, Falklands, Northern Ireland, Sierra Leone, Oman, have seen the SAS successful in all operations unlike the US SF that choked ion Vietnam. The Iraq wars and afghan war are all US based wars not British hence the involvement of 22SAS is limited. Like I said previously a US soldier came to NZ in the 80's and he went through training with the NZSAS and he was amazed with the training and went on to say that if the US trained like the NZSAS for the Vietnam war the US would have won and that is from an American. The NZSAS is an offshoot of the 22SAS who are well trained in jungle, mountaineering, air, ocean, urban warfare. The whole world witnessed the 22SAS in action for the first time in 1981 when they stormed the Iranian embassy and rescuing the hostages all the terrorists were killed and the hostages free. This is the first time ever that such operations were successful done in a professional manner. Unlike the Delta force lead by Meadows in 1980 to help free the hostages in Tehran resulting in a lump of shit. Guess where the US turned for help? That's right they turned to the 22SAS because of its success in the 1981 siege of the Iranian embassy. Meadows failed and he was assigned to overlook the operation of freeing hostages in Tehran 1980. If the founder delta who is Meadows which you hold to utmost respect failed that just shows that you are an absolute loser of a person supporting someone who is responsible for the failed Tehran operation. The NZSAS served alongside the delta team in Afghan and they found that Delta were unable to adapt to the situation or conditions for eg: a hummer did not have proper machine gun mounts the delta guys didn't want it therefore waiting specifically for a part to be ordered and send over from the US. The NZSAS on the other hand saw the situation with the Humvees and chose to improvise adapt and overcome. They ended up building their own mounts using scrap metals they could find and piece together a well innovated piece of kit suitable for mounting machine guns. The delta and other US SF were amazed and wanted the same done for theirs. That their shows that the Delta cannot think outside the box they are programmed to work only with everything handed complete to them. My mate went onto say that US SF are only different due to advancement of equipment which they have understandably the US invest so much money to making new advanced equipment and there is the only difference. Removing all the complex stuff the SAS will whup the Delta team anytime anywhere. One thing you need to know the countries of the west all train together there is a movie about the 22SAS which showed two American soldiers attached to the 22SAS unit in order to learn counter terrorism tactics in urban, air, boat etc. The movie was out in the mid 80's the two US soldier represents the US SF needed a lot of help after its failed efforts of 1980. As mentioned previously the 22SAS is where the rest of the SF worldwide is based on. The Delta and Seals and many others all adopted there ideas from 22SAS and that's a fact. The US came to realise in the in the 80's that they need to improve after the failed attempts of the Tehran 1980 incident. The 22SAS, SASR of Australia and even the NZSAS all remarked that they carried out more operations than any other SF team in Iraq and Afghan. Such statements were voiced individually by SAS soldiers involved in the conflict even the Seals and Delta said the same thing which makes me think who is telling the truth! As mentioned earlier Iraq wars and Afghan are US wars and they are responsible for their own wars and look at what it turned out to be it's looking like the lump of shit which occurred in Vietnam. They are not winning. The wars the Brits involved ever since the introduction of 22SAS without the US involvement has seen nothing but success unlike the US SF's failure in Vietnam getting whupped by Vietcong, failed attempts of the Tehran hostage situation and the current Iraq and afghan war. Look at all the failures the Delta force has been involved in I can keep going forever. The 22SAS is and will always be the founder of SF and the base where everyone emulates. History has proven it and experience once again is the seals everything. Before you consider replying look at the failure and incompetence your friend meadows displayed in Tehran leading to his humble submission to the 22SAS for help a move considered noble by the US President of the early 80's. 22SAS the founder of what is now known the epitome of all special forces everyone copied their ideas and training and formed their own SF unit and that is exactly what delta did. In conclusion 22SAS is the Father and delta and everyone else are kiddies which lacks experience. The US and all other western countries train and learn from each other the only thing separates US is the advanced technological sophisticated to play with.
The template and role of the SAS that Delta Force emulated in the 70s and 80s doesn’t exist anymore.. That old British model of Special Forces was based on small Units being used for rare crisis situations like hostage rescue, securing nuclear or biological weapons from terrorists, or recce/saboteur of strategic targets for conventional forces etc.… Again, these were very rare in occurrence and episodic situations that the SAS role was made for… They were (NOT) designed for long sustainable counter terrorism operations at the (global level), which is exactly how the modern GWOT was fought. Up until the GWOT, nobody had any experience targeting terrorist networks across different time zones with synchronized connectivity.. Al Qeada were in over 130 different countries by 2007, and that was the first time both UK and US waged CT on that scale, and it was America JSOC that transformed and evolved to that new challenge. The 22 SAS followed their lead and foot steps and changed over to JSOC methodologies as the GWOT progressed. The modern 22 SAS of (today) are based on Delta Force, not the other way around
After the British Ambassadors convoy was attacked his 2 British security agents were wounded, and his vehicle immobilized. They were sitting ducks. Thats when a JSOC unit showed up just in time and surrounded the Ambassadors vehicle w/ their armored G Wagons shielding them from the enemy fire. A DELTA operator then secured the British Ambassador along w/ his security detachment while the rest of the JSOC unit beat back the insurgents saving the Ambassadors life.
Its doesn't hurt to admit that the SAS is the parent unit of all SF worldwide and the rest are kiddies especially Delta. Eat it up suckers!
That is true... All the way up too the global war on terror. At this point the U.K. SF have began to remodel all their SF capabilities on American SOF.
Great rebuke to those haters Stirling was a proud Scots guy and his best friend was Fitzroy MacLean another Scottish guy who built the Commandos and the Paras good guys in our time of need🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The UK SF since the war on terror has actually modeled training, tactics and organizational setting after SOCOM and JSOC. Father teaches son.... now, son teaches father.
We all know that great britain has the best trained army in the world and the SAS train other countries special forces ie america . For a country so small we have made such a big impact on the rest of the world we are a small island full of brave men and women ever remember the sayin "the sun never sets on the british empire " i understand that people from certain countries (america ) think they are the best when in actual fact they are lazy cowardly back stabbers they claim to win wars they clearly never won (vietnam, ww2) russians won ww2 without them hitler would have won. And america suffered more casualties than vietnam. History will also teach that americans only joined the war after japan bombed pearl harbour and befor that they sold arms to both sides (thats real history , not the bullshit lies america teaches its youth) amrica is the loudmouth playground bully who shits his pants as soon as some one rebels against him then calls for great britain to get involved cos hes in fact to big of a fuckin wimp to fight his own battles... that is all ;)
no matter how you worded that or attempted to say it, many people understand that is how unfortunately shit works when one has influence on a nation so powerful. (many people companies/businesses have many types of influences on America.
@@pauldrysdale7615 It's true that the US would most likely wipe out the UK, coming from someone who lives in the UK, they just have to many soldiers. Our nuclear capability or using the SAS for assassinations would be our main chance.
zserbian1 The Grandpa of special forces were the LRDG in WW2 which was the first successful type of unconventional force used of its kind. The SAS built their doctrines and knowledge off them.
***** Provide proof to prove me wrong or your comment is meaningless. Just another "your comment is wrong and is bullshit" worthless reply. The LRDG was the first modern mechanized behind the line unconventional force that dealt major damage to the enemy. Not only specialized in mechanized warfare but also in Infantry tactics and strategy.
SAS guys can do anything Delta force can do ,and the fucking rest, The Brits can do it all ,we have the SBS aswell who are the marine specialised equivalent of the SAS.
Her story, and her seemingly dramatic rescue, riveted news watchers. The video of the military operation, and a clearly hurting-but-relieved Lynch flashing a smile for cameras, spread quickly through news outlets and thrust the young soldier into the limelight. The stories of her heroism included accounts of a severely injured Lynch firing her gun at Iraqi soldiers until she ran out of ammunition
I think that Delta Force are too strung up on not leaving any man behind - which is a massive weakness. The SAS will leave a man behind if the mission demands it.
Bravo 2 zero where they left people behind. My point exactly. Delta Force have had their share of fuck ups. Operation Eagle Claw - Operation Gothic Serpent, the calamatous invasion of Grenada when Task Force 160 got raped - DF might point their finger at the pilots there but they should not have been their in the first place - it was embarrassing.
Ricky I guess you think that Chris Kyle is a real american hero as well - and in no way a racist and a fucking liar who made up most of what's in his book.
Gareth Mangnall "Ricky I guess you think that Chris Kyle is a real american hero as well - and in no way a racist and a fucking liar who made up most of what's in his book." LOL Chris Kyle's exploits in Iraq were being written about by other combat vets and authors LONG before he ever wrote is own memoir princess. Marcus Lutrell, Dick Couch, Brandon Webb, Chris Osman, Mich Smith even fucking ex British Sniper Mark Spicer who worked with Kyle at Craft inc. after the SEAL teams backs up Kyle's legendary status. As for being a racist and a fucking liar,,plz at least "try" to back that up with some context .. Yelling "Fuck You!!!" at the Iraqi insurgents during a gun fight is hardly an example of "racist" rhetoric lol..if that is your definition of racist then im a KKK grand master. ps. Fuck you gov ;)
Which one is better, I don't know because I'm not apart of either, and a point for some to consider is that though Delta is based off of S.A.S doesn't mean one is better than the other it just means one was created based off or because the other. My opinion though would be that they are both good, because if they weren't then their respective countries probably (or at least hopefully) wouldn't be stupid enough to keep them active and would disband them. Seeing as they are active they both must be good enough to get the job done. Also if someone could point me to a descent training video or manual the SAS go through that would be great as I like to cross reference to make sure they are accurate.
Delta force and SAS often work together the SAS are better at hostage rescues and gathering infomation with no deaths and then Americans take all the credit by going to war
Delta force recruits out of the Army Ranger 75th Reg. and the Green Berets. Those two groups are already elite despite what anyone in this thread might say, join the units and see for yourself. After recruiting from these two units comes a selection process from which only 10% of the original operators from already-elite groups emerge. Later on, the real training starts and about half of those who made it through the first selection make the cut. Most people don't know about delta. The SAS trained Delta in the 1970's. Later on, when they fought together SAS troops said they were outdone by their American counterparts.
That's funny, because it reminds me of something, can't remember what it was though, ah yes, the British Special Forces! The SAS recruit mainly from the Paras, who are already extremely hardened soldiers with 28 weeks training, and the SBS recruit from the Royal Marine Commandos, who have the longest training of any regular infantry unit in the world, at 32 weeks. But that's not the best part, to even be accepted for selection, you need to have served a MINIMUM of 3 years. BUDS, on the other hand, can be taken straight out of school. I'd love to be given a source for your last comment there, as from what I've read, the US have called on the Brits countless times. One example was when the SAS had to rescue a CIA operative in Kandahar because Delta Force quote, "lacked experience."
Are you a Brit? You seem to be very biased with your views on this military discussion. I will admit that the Royal Marines are on par if not better than the U.S, Army rangers at their respective jobs. But the Green Berets are trained for up to 2 years, depending on their MOS. So please get informed.
That's because the Green Berets are Special Forces, whereas the Royal Marines are Commandos. We've got the Special Reconaissance Regiment, the Special Forces Support Group and the Pathfinders which are similar to Green Berets. Then you go up a step and you've got the SBS and SAS. If a couple of you Rangers managed to lose a series of challenges against 2 lads from the RAF, them it puts perspective on the rest of your military. Check it out, the video is on here, despite having several disadvantages, the fly boys still won. Guess who the Green Berets got their inspiration from for their berets? The Royal Marines, the original Green Berets. Guess who introduced berets to the US military? The British.
what does the beret have to do with their performance. You are arguing with bullshit that I care nothing about. I'll give that video some props, but it's a video.
Delta Force hardly compare to the SAS. SAS is #1 if you think otherwise you really are an ignorant fool. The only force you could compare to the SAS would be the Israeli Special forces. The 22nd Special Air Service regiment (22 SAS) comprises of 4 active 'sabre' squadrons : A, B, D, & G, each made up of around 60 men. Each Squadron is made up of 4 troops with each troop specialising in certain areas of expertise. Air Troop - skilled in parachute insertions (HALO, HAHO, static line etc) Boat Troop - specialising in amphibious operations Mobility Troop - masters of operations using a variety of vehicles Mountain Troop - expert mountaineers and trained in the disciplines of arctic warfare. The Regiment has a wide range of responsibilities, each requiring specific training and disciplines : 1.Counter-Terrorism (CT) / Hostage rescue 2.Intelligence Gathering 3.Forward Air Control 4.Target Attacks - Behind The Lines Sabotage 5.Close Protection(Body guards) 6.Training Foreign Militaries
Pickled Onion Navy SEAL Team 6 would is fit for anything at anytime. As are all SEAL teams. But I don't think you know that SEAL Team 6 (Along with Delta Force and a few Marines) eliminated the most wanted Terrorist in the world.. My point is, they are probably slightly better than the S.A.S and would match with the Isreali Commando's as they're Certified badasses..
Im ex SAS and worked with US Special Forces and, apart from friendly competition both units do the same jobs well and depend on each other. Trooper 24236***
Ah you didn't have a username when I made the comment earlier. If what you've said is true then I have the utmost respect for you. If not then you need a new hobby.
To be honest I wouldn't want to go up against SAS or delta Force. Though being British I will off course stand by my own team an be proud of what they do. How ever its prity dam hard to figger out who is best as most of the things they are involved in is secret and we only find out about it 30 years after it happened. Also don't forget the Australians. They also have SAS who you wouldn't want to mess with.
+Einsteinbomb Well if thats true which I doubt very much and the SAS got in trouble then the Delta Force would have had no chance what so ever and if you are trying to discredit the SAS try looking closer to home and look up Operation Eagle Claw and the Battle of Mogadishu perhaps you might learn something!
+willieisgreen the high command was stupid sending the same formation and doing it over and over again , which caused the Somalis to know the plan . yet we still fought better and killed more and yeah, and I bet if sas troops were there they would have sucked dick , just go and ask Osama bin laden on how good us special forces are , oahh wait he is not here , what the seals toke him out , but I thought England had the best special forces and they were attacked to on the 7-7 bombings , I mean ur people are soo weak , ur budget is no where near ours , 600 billion USD to 60 billion USD that's not even close
Just listened to Clint Emerson a former seal team 6 member and he mentioned the British SF as the longest serving SF unit the world and the USSF platform is based on the UKSF. He went on to say the UKSF as the most experienced in counter terrorism lols. Beckwith was a green beret and he wanted the USA to have it's own SAS unit because of the success the SAS demonstrated in the wars worldwide. He didn't consider the green beret as elite and he needed help from the SAS to help establish an SAS unit in the USA.
@@cheekboy7247 Clint did not mention beckwith but the history of delta came about because of beckwiths fascination with the SAS when he was posted to the 22 SAS. Beckwith was a green beret himself and preferred the SAS platform over the green beret. Beckwith saw and experienced the success the SAS had in wars and operations and he loved everything to do with the SAS. Hence beckwith needed assistance from the SAS to help form delta. SAS was also brought in to help establish the ussocom after the eagle claw disaster.
@@boxerwayne6660 even your own SAS commander Lieutenant Colonel Richard Williams prefers the Delta over his own SAS soldiers, and i quote directly "A common thread runs throughout Task Force Black that makes it difficult not to come away with the impression that the units’ relationship has since evolved. Today they seem to exist almost like siblings, with Delta - backed by the enormous might and budget of the United States military machine (and JSOC in particular) - playing big brother to the SAS’s little brother. Besides merely wanting in on some of Delta’s action, the SAS’s commanding officer at the time, Lt. Col. Richard Williams, openly admired General McChrystal and was described as an unabashed Americanophile, SAS Commander Lt. Col. Richard Williams stated he would have preferred to have commanded Delta than his own men. He constantly challenged Task Force Black (mockingly referred to as “Task Force Slack” prior to their JSOC integration) to match the pace and intensity of the Americans. And when the SAS was at its most lethal, Urban described it as “operating in the style of Delta.” The units’ assaulters even began to look more and more alike. The SAS is described as transitioning to the practice of wearing their sidearms on the front of their body armor in a similar fashion to the Americans rather than in leg holsters as they typically had previously while also adopting the same Crye Precision MultiCam camouflage gear that was popular with Delta operators - some even complete with Stars and Stripes-adorned ‘Fuck al-Qaeda’ patches even SAS admits that Delta is better "we the SAS have been surpassed by the Delta as the best special forces on the planet" even your own British journalist Mark Urban covers the entire subject, by the way the UK doesnt even have any tier 1 Air Force special forces like we do in the US, we have the 24th STS so the UK also gets destroyed in that aspect, i will believe the SAS them selves and the British journalist Mark Urban and even the SAS Commander Lieutenant Colonel Richard Williams stating that Delta is better than SAS than the BS you spout, and SAS is especially embarrassing after their operation bravo zero two disaster
lol counter terrorism and hostage rescue didnt become a charter for 22 Regiment up until 1972 after the Munich Olympic massacree,, Delta Force became a organization in 1979 lol.. Thats not a huge gap of either experience or capability. With the exception of WW2, almost all the experience that the SAS had before 1972 was practically all bilateral, FID related operations. Kenya, Aden, Malaya, Borneo, Oman were all very low in kinetic activity.. lol Thats exactly what the US Green Berets were doing in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, South America and Filipins in the same time period. Even the urban surveillance experience and human intelligence TTPs that 22 SAS and 14 Det built in Nothern Ireland was also being developed and used by Green Berets in East Berlin against the Russian KGB. Sorry, but Delta Force in all actuality took very little from the British SF,, Just a fact
I say A big thank you to both of them for what they do,it is quite simply awesome.I am British and I think the reason the SAS get the gold medal is because they have more experience than any other special forces unit, going back to the 2nd world war.Look at the video SAS originals, but I take my hat off to any young man or woman who lays their life on the line in the name of freedom and whats right.God bless them all.
I Am Prior Service USMC and US Army, and,I have to state here on the Comments Section to You Tube Nation that both America's Delta Force and Britain's Special Air Service are Special and Elite, Chosen and Unique, World Class and Badass Battlefield Shooters and Special Operators. They are competent and capable of conducting Combat Operations, Direct Action, Counter Terrorism, and, other Mission Parameters under orders of their Political and Military Leaders. Top notch and professional Soldiers and Special Operators they are. Surprise, Speed, Violence of Action. Who Dares Wins. 🗡️⚔️🔫💥💀💀
There is nothing that the SAS can do which Delta can't.. Delta has far more advanced training facilities in the US which is being used by Brits all the time.. Mountains, deserts, swamps you name it ..
True. With the SAS though in Wales there are some god awful mountain ranges that SAS trainees must trek across carrying huge loads on their backs. Either way they are both hardened to all environments.
barracuda7018 no the SAS are the most powerful force on earth requires a 5 years in the Royal army also the SAS are far more trained however Delta spend there time with there money and buy weapons not train or anything in a battle the SAS would win by far
Mr Jinx The SAS is not better trained than any other western special ops.. Its just a propaganda !!!! ...There is no secrets, everybody knows how the other side trains There is nothing what the SAS can do and Delta can't.. On the contrary....
barracuda7018 the SAS go where they like to learn. anyone with sense wouldn't stand up against them! brits have always been determined strong fuckers then add a sas course into that mix you get a lethal warrior like no other. people barely pass their elite forces ie royal marine commandos and paras let alone special forces. by the way just because someone fit enough to pass the sas course doesn't mean they'll pass either, if you are too violent and such you fail, too gentle you fail. they do not judge, even if you're a criminal,if they like you and you do good you pass. attitude is as important as strengths and weaknesses.
SAS would eat Seal team 6 for breakfast :) who can really say SAS have been around the longest and wrote the book on special operations not only are they trained to be the best soldiers in the British military but they also receive training from MI5 and MI6 to be the best spies as well. That's like rolling Chuck Norris and Bond into one package lol. On the other hand Delta Force and the Seals have the full power of the American war machine behind them
Most of SAS jungle warfare skills were taken from Malaya's / Borneo's aborigines - the place where Delta Force were first born towards the end of Vietnam War. Malaya is the home of the commandos and even up to this day, British, Aussie and NZ and US SF are still training / joint-exercises in Malaya / Malaysia along with the Malaysian Army. Green Beret, Rangers and Delta are having secret 1 to 3 months training sessions in Malaysia annually. Teak Mint Exercise is one such example.
+royalfinest Funny, I thought the original commando was the South African Boer fighter during the Boer war - they gave us Brits' such a fright! We licked our wounds, learned the lesson and accepted a new way to fight! So, guys! We Brit's were not the first to wield special forces - it was such a long time ago - but it is a fact, most of the best fighting techniques stem from Africa, The British Long Range Desert Group, The German Afrika Corps, the Zulu Impi, The French Foreign Legion, The Bedouin and Riffs and of course the Boers'. Please excuse me if I don't include those great little survivors - the Bushmen! Then, what about our present day problem - the insurgent fighters with their RPG's, Pickup trucks, AK47's and motorcycles holding off the might of NATO and Russia? If they were on our side - wouldn't we be calling them top-notch special forces? Food for thought?
+royalfinest Hi, You mentioned commando in your comments. No intention of contradiction, merely taking the commando as the subject of my comment - one based upon historical events rather than the here and now. Many thanks for your posting, take care, Bill.
Chris sums it up nicely. I have served with UK forces and all of the other nations of the old Brit empire- in a non-combat role. Each nation only looks on the other as a most trusted ally and friend. I can only presume that our most elite forces would be disgusted at anyone attempting a real comparison. For the sake of esprit de corps perhaps they might engage in some joking but when the real work has to be done I dare say they would completely trust one another- as they have proven time and again. You can probably throw 1 er Parachutiste into that assessment as well.
People need to stop comparing these 2 godly forces they are best friends and best allies. They work together alongside in the battlefield which is all that matters. US and UK for life 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Thought it was gonna be another america is better then britain argument rather then the fact that CT was born here. I was pleasantly suprised that even though you started out with 'america, fuck yeah', you ended up showing a hell of a lot of respect fir the SAS.
Richard Williams, the commander of the SAS during the task force black years, in so many words basically stated that Delta was the SAS on crack. He constantly tried to goad his men into operating at the pace and intensity of Delta, and in the moments when the SAS were at the top of their game he said they were operating in the style of Delta. If no one believes me I can provide a link to the book written by a British about training black, and show you the exact passage.
That's impossible to tell unless you pit them against each other, and I would imagine both train against themselves in some way as come up with ways to out do a similar force to themselves. Delta Force is based off training that was taken over by ex SAS and their training is therefore similar. Both work in relatively small units and rely on minimal equipment to do their jobs and they need to remain mobile and not bogged down with gear. The truth is, neither are the best though. The best are the British SBS. Their level of secrecy, fitness and capability exceed that of even the SAS. I used to think that the Navy Seals were the USA's equivalent of the SBS. But the US Navy Seals are more akin to the Royal Marine Commandos. I've never heard of another military unit that compares to the SBS, though the SAS and Delta Force are about as close as you'll get.
A few of the "delta force" pictures aren't actually delta force. All pictures with actual delta force soldiers in them have all eyes and identification blacked out.
joe rustidge probably something like they share the same type of weapons or tech, not sure tbh ha see someone in black and a gas mask get on that floor in the fetal position lol
We are very very very lucky that we in the west have these two very highly trained units.Plus i love how the SAS is full of Scots.Like Captain Price himself. The legend that is John Mac.
.."If someone surrenders to you then remember they have that right in international law and ensure that one day they go home to their family. The ones who wish to fight, well, we aim to please. If you harm the regiment or its history by over-enthusiasm in killing or in cowardice, know it is your family who will suffer. You will be shunned unless your conduct is of the highest for your deeds will follow you down through history. We will bring shame on neither our uniform or our nation...."
SF units are comprised of individual operators, some more talented than others. American SF/SO units pull candidates from the largest and most talented pool in the world. This may change sometime in the future, but American SF units are simply comprised of the most talented and experienced operators in the world right now.
Did you know you can take BUDS at the age of 18 and require no military experience? To even be qualified for SAS selection you need to have served a minimum of 3 years. The youngest you'll ever be to be considered for Selection is 20, and even then you'd need an exceptional military career to be put forward at such a young age. Go on about US Special Forces being world class, but leave knowing that they're more famous for losing to sub level militias in places like Mogadishu, Afghanistan and Vietnam. There's even a US series on here in which the US takes on soldiers from other nations in a series of tests, in one episode a pair of US Rangers (elite, apparently) lost to the RAF (posh fly boys with as much infantry training as a standard British Infantryman).
The SAS is a Tier 1 unit, its Navy SEAL counterpart is DEVGRU, which pulls the best candidates from the regular SEAL teams (a Tier 2 unit). It's never a good idea to compare individual units to one another, but if you have to do it, at least know what you are comparing. I stand by my statement that America currently fields the most talented and experienced operators in the world today.
The UK doesn't operate under the stupid Tier system, we have Special Forces, SAS, SBS, Pathfinders, SFSG etc. We have our Royal Marine Commandos and then we have the regulars who comprise of the Paras, Infantry etc. I know exactly what I'm comparing, which is why I come to an informed conclusion. What are your reasons for claiming US Special Forces as the best? Look at their operational history, Operation Redwings, Operation Gothic Serpent, Son Tay, Operation Nifty Package, your recent escapades into Mogadishu yet again in which your SEALS were forced to retreat back into the sea by malnourished Africans. Then take a look at the history of the SAS, their frankly outstanding track record during WWII, Pebble Island, Battle of Mirbat, Helen Johnson rescue, The Siege, Operation Barrass, Peterhead Prison, taking on the IRA in Northern Ireland, rescuing 150 oil rig workers from Libya and more recently rescuing 100 civilians from the Westgate in Nairobi. Now your turn.
Your argument by selective observation nearly had be convinced *rolls eyes*. Look, cherry picking facts is a form of insecurity that doesn't suit anybody well, and it makes for poor debate. At the end of the day - just like any sports team - talent and experience trump everything. American SF units currently have the most of each.
Now you've just destroyed your own argument with arrogance and ignorance commonly seen with Yanks. It's got nothing to do with cherry picking facts. It's stating facts. Who were the first force sent in during the first Gulf War? The SAS. Who changed General Schwarzkop's view on Special Forces? The SAS. Who are the model for all other Special Forces in the world? The SAS. I COULD go on but I feel as though none of this information is making it into your head. How can a unit that is barely 40 years old have more experience than one that has existed since the 40's? How can you claim it has more talent when the only thing it's famous for is failing in everything it achieves? You name me just 1 US Spec Ops mission that comes close to any of the British ones I mentioned and I will re-cooperate what little respect I had for you.
I doubt if SAS and Delta operators worry about who's the best, it's only armchair generals and keyboard warriors who do...
Lewie Dewie yea my uncle was in Delta Force for about 13 years late 90’s-09’ he said they do, not often but they do. He said they also just sometimes meet up and have beers and hang out
16ycowboy I think it’s more banter than arguing
MrMozza1202 very true
True ...mate as ex soldier we don't give a damn who the best ....we just need the job done pack up go back home that all.
"who cares who wins" 😜
You know who doesn't debate this? Actual members of Delta and SAS. They have beers together and laugh at internet pukes.
Spot on
Well said sir
Well said
I'll debate it all I want. Get mad
Well fucking said !
Aren't 21 SAS a reservists unit ?
@Hugh Jarce There was a unit just outside Dundee - not sure if it's still there.
@@maconescotland8996 it is, its D Sqn 23 SAS though
21 sas mostly work on weekends but undergo the same selection and training process
Territorial army regiment, civilian reserves not fully badged sas, but Saturday and Sunday brigade.
you dont want to get tangled up on the wrong side of either of these forces.
Are you British?
Who the fuck cares? Both are comprised of some of the bravest and most elite warriors known to man. And both have fought side by side together. I'm proud of both. Why would you want to know whose better anyways? Do you foresee them fighting against each other? I don't.
+Chris Parker Agree mate, infact Delta and SAS pretty much do their missions together, in first gulf war delta and sas joined and completed missions together, and same since. Delta often train in Hereford with the regiment and SAS often train at Fort Bragg. They share ideas all the time. If they fourght each other be lucky if any would survive.
I'm sure you're American
+sadiq ellams go fuck your self
+Chris Parker Precisely, Chris!
Urban was surprised at this admission.
bullshit....
I think he only talked about delta and not devgru lol
Well said
Mark urban was a liar and caused the death a British soldiers due to his insolence
Respect.
Best answer to this debate in this entire comment section mate
US Military just gave some with UK SF.
It's sad that people feel the need to compare these two special operations forces, since we are on the same side
No we're not
No
@@billygoat5213 We are you moron.
Unfortunately
No ones on the same side 😂
I'm hoping to join the SBS one day but really... I know that the US have it better now. Every task-force is led under americans.
pfl95 is it fuck
Aron Bourne omg thank you!! No legitimate operator would argue this point
so let the real deal sell it out? (let the veterans expose everything about the truths in what all this nonsense is talking about.
The Brits are prone to making the claim that since SAS was first and since Delta was originally modeled after them that, by definition, the SAS is better.
A few paragraphs from “Shaping the World From the Shadows” by Chris Martin:
Historically at least, the SAS could best be described as Delta Force’s parent organization…
A common thread runs throughout Task Force Black (aka British SAS arm of JSOC’s operations in Iraq) that makes it difficult not to come away with the impression that the units’ relationship has since evolved.
You have no idea what you are talking about😂
@@cheekboy7247 Then show me where I'm wrong.
@@cheekboy7247 ... That wasn’t his words idiot.. Most of that came from British writer Mark Urban and his book Task Force Black.
@@joesgotya9930 and?

How about we just accept that they are both the kind of guys whose bad sides you don't want to be on.
The SAS are the originals; they invented the techniques which Delta Force now emulate. The SAS are the archetype of all modern special forces units, and are the standard by which all others are measured. The SAS were kicking ass and taking names while the founders of Delta Force were still in nappies.
you are all disgraceful... our countries are allies 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Daytaj How is it disgraceful to compare how good a regiment is?
Friendly competition is one of the things that is the perfect motivation.
***** Where the Norwegians laughing when the Germans marched in and started kicking your arse ?
***** When was what ?
webdesignerguy You're argument is dangerously similar to Rome and Greece, Rome adopted Greece's combat, religious and political methods and beliefs and edited them to what they preferred and then Rome grew stronger than Greece and Greece was then conquered and made part of the Roman Empire.
***** Read the book my friend, that's faaar from the point. The SAS didn't get the nick name "Task Force SLACK" for nothing.
Quote: "What the Americans did was one of the most amazing military achevements Ive ever witnessed." "Out numbered 30:1 theres no way anyone should have made it out alive, let alone 32."
Sgt. Morgan Jones- British Blue Mountain Security in Benghazi
With only 12 trigger pullers, the JSOC & GRS operators faced over 300 Ansar Al-Sharia insurgents. No air support & no artillery. At dawn over 100 enemy bodies littered the ground. Just one more American battle that puts Mirbat to shame.
what's going on?
im raizo88 remember me?
March 19th 2021
UK defense ministry launches the "Ranger Regiment" modeled directly of the U.S. Army Special Forces "Green Berets".
SAS WHO DARES WINS 🇬🇧
Can’t agree more
Not Joey fucking Essex
who dares wins? alot of people
SAS and Delta are both equally effective and badass, I don't see it being a who's better match.
So unless u know better than the 2 most senior and well respected officers in SF history then shut ur gob .
boxer wayne You again? lol
"Wow you are amazing look up all the operations the SAS has been in since 1940s to 2011."
And why the hell would he do that boxer wang?
I have already exposed the BS reasons it gave with (the Balkans) i.e as the US SF actually had more experience in the Balkans then the 22 SAS did. thats a "FACT."
In "FACT", since you seem to be using so much of Mich Smiths words lately, you can read a little further and learn about that famous embarrassment of SAS SM. Cedric Delves and how his SAS unit was discovered at a Serb check point in Sarajevo. Instead of bringing him and his men in for questioning they were forced to exit their "undercover" hatch back and ordered to strip down to their boxers. According to Regiment history Delves speedo barred a large Union Jack!,,,,,, Who dares Wins?? lololol
Now,, close that gob of yours and piss off.
Joes GotYa "where the for the most part the "whole world" saw the future of terrorism and the danger of its cloak and dagger methods"
Well the whole world except of the US.
All of this bullshit cheerleading over "famous" units and speculative comparisons is highly disrespectful to those in "regular" service who accomplish their missions and do their jobs when everything gets attributed to special operations units.

why not?
@@Cdev66 if you were British, you wouldn't be able to have such a modest/impartial opinion
If they're both already the "best" among every other military group. The elite. Then it's only natural to won't to know who's the best among the best. So yes we can. If people already deemed them the best, then which of the best is better, more efficient, more deadly than the other?
Dang I come back 6 years later and the same argument is actually still going on xD.
But what do you expect when you upload a versus video.
Ten year later and it's still going on.
DELTA are Green Berets with SAS skills. They were ALREADY Special Forces BEFORE going DELTA.
It brought about a rethink in hostage rescue for the world's SF units.
isrealis are all cowards, there enemies are 8 year old kids with sling shots and they still are losing
HAHAHAH. This isn't even a fair comparison. Even the SAS admitted that Delta Force have surpassed them. Cry more Brits.
@@joesgotya9930 bro how did UK win op barras but USA lost at Vietnam. It's all about being trained.
The reputation of the British SAS is legendary - and formidable - this has seldom been questioned. I suspect the reality is that both units are equal.
Many other countries have operators with the same level of training and capability as the best from the UK & US as well.
comment is appreciated and informative. thx
The S.A.S has more experience and was the first counter terrorism unit. (From what I have been told)
+Caedus Actually no, most SAS casualties are classed as a death in their parent unit, for example if an SAS Trooper from the Para Regiment was killed in Afghan, more than likely he would be called his "true" rank, ie if he was a CPL or something then name then of the Paras.
+Corey Williams doesn't that depends on how where they die?
Paddy Maine was the greatest soldier that ever lived! (Fact)

I don't believe one is better then the other but the SAS did train Delta Force. Without the SAS there would be no Delta Force!!
lololol Pleez go into a little more depth on how the SAS trained Delta Force?? Most of Deltas plank owners during the the 1970s were in Hereford training SAS such as MACV SOG team leaders Richard Meadows, Major Sydor, Bull Simmons, Peter Schoomaker in current combat lessons on recce, patrolling, field medical, E&E and survival. Former SAS trooper Allen Hoe said himself that American SF played a huge role in molding some of the best SAS NCOs to come out of that generation. Now,, plz so kindly list "one" technique or procedure that SAS "trained" Delta Force in? :)
ONE = kill House (pioneered by the SAS)
audiomashup "ONE = kill House (pioneered by the SAS)"
lololol The Kill house "today" im afraid is nothing more then a series of practice structures for urban warfare princess.

How elite!
US and Brit operate together many times a year now. The pentagon is pretty big but the Brits are very keen. Thank the queen that we're allies!
"British SAS is way more complicated as they have the most experience behind enemy lines."
How on Earth can u justify that statment after the last 13 years of constant combat by the US against what is probably the best guerrilla fighters the world has ever seen? And the very brief time that the SAS saw any real action in Iraq it was under the direct command and supervision of JSOC. DELTA is busy being awarded Distinguished Service Crosses for ACTUALLY fighting terrorists, snatching HVT's out of Libya, and is currently operating against ISIS in Iraq, while the SAS is currently riding the bench back in the UK doing jack shit except trying to figure how how to get seconded to DELTA.

Meanwhile while the SAS waltzes home from Afghanistan, leaving DELTA & DEVGRU to continue the fight, a full DELTA squadron has just been deployed back into Iraq to lead the Iraqis in thier fight against ISIS
the SAS MOTO WHO DARES WINS says it all

Funny, I didn't know DETLA operators flew helicopters. But ur right, they could deff learn a thing or two about helicopter operations, I mean look at those amazing chopper insertions that UKSF pulled off during the Falklands! That great cross decking operation, the rescue attempts on Fortuna Glacier, that fantastic Sea King helicopter operation into Argentina where the SAS had to run for their lives & the pilots were captured & put on national TV...yep we could deff learn a few things!
This comment is pure gold
Comparing the 2 is like comparing apples and oranges...both are elite tier 1...either could win on any given day if they had to battle it out. They are both good and get tasks and missions completed. enough said.

Lmao! Delta the best? they f..kn choked in Tehran a failed operation carried out by the US SF in trying to rescue the hostages in
1980. Removing all the complex stuff the SAS will whup the Delta team anytime
anywhere. The wars the Brits involved ever since the introduction of 22SAS without
the US involvement has seen nothing but success unlike the US SF's failure in Vietnam getting whupped by Vietcong, failed attempts of the Tehran hostage situation and the current Iraq and afghan war. Look at all the failures the Delta force has been involved in
I can keep going forever.

Thats when a JSOC unit showed up just in time and surrounded the Ambassadors vehicle w/ their armored G Wagons shielding them from the enemy fire. A DELTA operator then secured the British Ambassador along w/ his security detachment while the rest of the JSOC unit beat back the insurgents saving the Ambassadors life.
JSOC FTW
"We of the Delta Force have built upon your philosophies, organisation and operational concepts in creating this unit. Your principles and ideas. Your principles and ideas are as sound today as they were in world war two. The common bond between the special forces of the Western world is that we all trace our roots back to you".
From the commander of the US Delta Force to David Stirling, on the occasion of his being made a Knight Bachelor in 1990.
History will also teach that americans only joined the war after japan bombed pearl harbour and befor that they sold arms to both sides (thats real history , not the bullshit lies america teaches its youth) amrica is the loudmouth playground bully who shits his pants as soon as some one rebels against him then calls for great britain to get involved cos hes in fact to big of a fuckin wimp to fight his own battles... that is all ;)
gazzie America would stomp the brits ass into the dirt if they was to fight today. Stop acting like your something your not.
no matter how you worded that or attempted to say it, many people understand that is how unfortunately shit works when one has influence on a nation so powerful. (many people companies/businesses have many types of influences on America.
Don't need to know my name. DREAM ON YOU FUCKING MONG
@@pauldrysdale7615 It's true that the US would most likely wipe out the UK, coming from someone who lives in the UK, they just have to many soldiers. Our nuclear capability or using the SAS for assassinations would be our main chance.
Lol the rage is real
Wait, doesn't Delta force basically piggy back of SAS? meaning SAS is the father/ mother, Delta is the rookie.
S.A.S is better :)
well sas is the grandpa of special forces navy seals, deltas, rangers and other special forces learned a lot from them
zserbian1 The Grandpa of special forces were the LRDG in WW2 which was the first successful type of unconventional force used of its kind. The SAS built their doctrines and knowledge off them.
DUB_R: TotalWar sas trained army rangers during ww2 ant they where pretty successful
DUB_R: TotalWar
Wrong, And bullshit at that
***** Provide proof to prove me wrong or your comment is meaningless.
BRITANNIA RULES
i couldn't care less who's better, all i care about is that they make it home as soon as they can without a scratch (the real mission!) :)x
I know who I'd prefer to come rescue my arse. Be the SAS every time!
There both great
Her story, and her seemingly dramatic rescue, riveted news watchers.
The SAS have no problem getting captured too..I wonder how many missions demanded that though?? lololol
Gareth Mangnall "Ricky I guess you think that Chris Kyle is a real american hero as well - and in no way a racist and a fucking liar who made up most of what's in his book."
LOL Chris Kyle's exploits in Iraq were being written about by other combat vets and authors LONG before he ever wrote is own memoir princess.
COCK
SAS are amazing
SAS where formed in the 1940's ww2
Which one is better, I don't know because I'm not apart of either, and a point for some to consider is that though Delta is based off of S.A.S doesn't mean one is better than the other it just means one was created based off or because the other. My opinion though would be that they are both good, because if they weren't then their respective countries probably (or at least hopefully) wouldn't be stupid enough to keep them active and would disband them. Seeing as they are active they both must be good enough to get the job done. Also if someone could point me to a descent training video or manual the SAS go through that would be great as I like to cross reference to make sure they are accurate.
Delta and SAS operators all say that the only difference between the units is the accent
Delta force and SAS often work together the SAS are better at hostage rescues and gathering infomation with no deaths and then Americans take all the credit by going to war
charlie moore Couldn't stop laughing at that comment. You think they publish their failures. A lot of SAS troopers were killed in Iraq.
+James Dean
and an awful lot in the falklands that was never recognised !
+James Dean Task Force Black which was made up of SAS and Delta units in Iraq between 2005-2008 reported 6 SAS killed and around 30 injured.

SAS looks more serious lmho
That's because they are lol
Because they're off the feckin rails
Frankie knows
Yeah my dad was in the scots guards for like 22 years just recently found out he was mates with the person who orchestrated the sas lol
+jack bell He orchestrated the SAS? You know people in the SAS aren't allowed to tell anybody right?
Delta Force hardly compare to the SAS.
SAS is #1 if you think otherwise you really are an ignorant fool. The only force you could compare to the SAS would be the Israeli Special forces.
The 22nd Special Air Service regiment (22 SAS) comprises of 4 active 'sabre' squadrons : A, B, D, & G, each made up of around 60 men. Each Squadron is made up of 4 troops with each troop specialising in certain areas of expertise.
Air Troop - skilled in parachute insertions (HALO, HAHO, static line etc)
Boat Troop - specialising in amphibious operations
Mobility Troop - masters of operations using a variety of vehicles
Mountain Troop - expert mountaineers and trained in the disciplines of arctic warfare.
The Regiment has a wide range of responsibilities, each requiring specific training and disciplines :
1.Counter-Terrorism (CT) / Hostage rescue
2.Intelligence Gathering
3.Forward Air Control
4.Target Attacks - Behind The Lines Sabotage
5.Close Protection(Body guards)
6.Training Foreign Militaries
Pickled Onion Mossad is equivalent to MI6 or CIA. Israeli Seyeret Matkal is special forces, whose motto is... "HE WHO DARES WINS", strange that :)
Pickled Onion You forgot cheese they like cheese..
Austin Ryan Seal team six and delta force cant even rescue hostages without killing them in the process.
Pickled Onion What do you mean? They are at least better than the S.A.S at rescuing hostages...
Im ex SAS and worked with US Special Forces and, apart from friendly competition both units do the same jobs well and depend on each other. Trooper 24236***
Are you that secret you're not even allowed a username?
John Smith .It ain't my real name.....the number is
Ah you didn't have a username when I made the comment earlier.
If what you've said is true then I have the utmost respect for you. If not then you need a new hobby.
Geoff Rowley do you like the USA and Americans?
Why would you tell us random UA-cam people?
To be honest I wouldn't want to go up against SAS or delta Force. Though being British I will off course stand by my own team an be proud of what they do. How ever its prity dam hard to figger out who is best as most of the things they are involved in is secret and we only find out about it 30 years after it happened. Also don't forget the Australians. They also have SAS who you wouldn't want to mess with.
Isaac Cauchi Sense hahahah
Well some former SAS troops actually train us marines :/
New Zealand have sas as well so do the South Africans
When the Delta Force need rescued they call in the SAS.
willieisgreen no! Its 160 Soar night stakers and Rangers. Not u
willieisgreen
LOL. They should have sent Delta Force when SAS operatives were captured and detained by simple farmhands in Libya 4 years ago.
+Einsteinbomb Well if thats true which I doubt very much and the SAS got in trouble then the Delta Force would have had no chance what so ever and if you are trying to discredit the SAS try looking closer to home and look up Operation Eagle Claw and the Battle of Mogadishu perhaps you might learn something!
willieisgreen B.s the 75th Rangers and 160th. that comes! to their aid Josc do not need u.
Where did he mention this?
@@cheekboy7247 in his podcast with ant middleton the former British sf soldier. Look up surviving podcast with Clint emerson
And when the SAS was at its most lethal, Urban described it as “operating in the style of Delta.”
The units’ assaulters even began to look more and more alike. The SAS is described as transitioning to the practice of wearing their sidearms on the front of their body armor in a similar fashion to the Americans rather than in leg holsters as they typically had previously while also adopting the same Crye Precision MultiCam camouflage gear that was popular with Delta operators - some even complete with Stars and Stripes-adorned ‘Fuck al-Qaeda’ patches
even SAS admits that Delta is better "we the SAS have been surpassed by the Delta as the best special forces on the planet" even your own British journalist Mark Urban covers the entire subject, by the way the UK doesnt even have any tier 1 Air Force special forces like we do in the US, we have the 24th STS so the UK also gets destroyed in that aspect, i will believe the SAS them selves and the British journalist Mark Urban and even the SAS Commander Lieutenant Colonel Richard Williams stating that Delta is better than SAS than the BS you spout, and SAS is especially embarrassing after their operation bravo zero two disaster
lol counter terrorism and hostage rescue didnt become a charter for 22 Regiment up until 1972 after the Munich Olympic massacree,, Delta Force became a organization in 1979 lol..
Sorry, but Delta Force in all actuality took very little from the British SF,, Just a fact
there can only be one winner......
just as there can only be one captain price.... SAS
+William Ce fuck you hit low wayyyy bellow the belt talking about cpt. price my fav. super hero , with the best voice ever ;(
Definitely, I like gaz as well
well ghost was better I think he was American !!!!
I thought ghost was SAS?
idk wasn't he delta ? omg I am trying to remember what he sounds like and an American accent keeps getting up in my brain !!!!
Delta
Delta force❤🔥☠💪🏻
I say A big thank you to both of them for what they do,it is quite simply awesome.I am British and I think the reason the SAS get the gold medal is because they have more experience than any other special forces unit, going back to the 2nd world war.Look at the video SAS originals, but I take my hat off to any young man or woman who lays their life on the line in the name of freedom and whats right.God bless them all.
Easy beSt of the best is sas 🇬🇧
Question. Do you even know what delta does?? Exactly
Not saying one is better than the other but Delta Force looks so much more badass than SAS.
xd
Delta.
If the sas are using them facilities that makes them the exact same ffs
barracuda7018 no the SAS are the most powerful force on earth requires a 5 years in the Royal army also the SAS are far more trained however Delta spend there time with there money and buy weapons not train or anything in a battle the SAS would win by far
Sas is best by miles
Yes it is
The British Raptor your names the British raptor I wonder why SAS is the best
So how many JSOC were there in total? To insurgents?.
Malaya was about jungle warfare. Stealth, combat tracking, ambush, survival, evasion, traps etc. Totally different game.
+royalfinest Hi, You mentioned commando in your comments. No intention of contradiction, merely taking the commando as the subject of my comment - one based upon historical events rather than the here and now. Many thanks for your posting, take care, Bill.
Could it be Enfield by any chance? :), I thought u were from mildenhall?.
US and UK for life 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Soldier the unit delta is the best.
Bruh
SAS already admitted that Delta force was better in every way so nothing to argue about
True
Thought it was gonna be another america is better then britain argument rather then the fact that CT was born here. I was pleasantly suprised that even though you started out with 'america, fuck yeah', you ended up showing a hell of a lot of respect fir the SAS.
Richard Williams, the commander of the SAS during the task force black years, in so many words basically stated that Delta was the SAS on crack. He constantly tried to goad his men into operating at the pace and intensity of Delta, and in the moments when the SAS were at the top of their game he said they were operating in the style of Delta. If no one believes me I can provide a link to the book written by a British about training black, and show you the exact passage.
show me im curious
Why did you put special forces, regular army, helicopters and even Marines in Delta Force???!!
A few of the "delta force" pictures aren't actually delta force. All pictures with actual delta force soldiers in them have all eyes and identification blacked out.
Lets ask the question. If your parent/children or whatever are held captive in a jungle by an armed group - who would you call? SAS or Delta and why?
Delta with there assets they will be there twice as fast as the SAS but both would work
How do SAS use deltas gear?? Delta force don't use the black kit ? Or the same type of gas masks ?
joe rustidge probably something like they share the same type of weapons or tech, not sure tbh ha see someone in black and a gas mask get on that floor in the fetal position lol
joe rustidge it's not black it's dark blue!!😂
Gas masks! Haha, ( Respirator )
terry vince ahh yes thank you for reminding me I have studied more about it now than I did then 😂😂
lol, other than you coming to mine and watch it don't know what else to say :).Is that nice café set back in the woods still there?
What were the star for acting?:)
Do you think any of these men think who is better, or do they get on with their job.
Brave men no doubt.
We are very very very lucky that we in the west have these two very highly trained units.Plus i love how the SAS is full of Scots.Like Captain Price himself. The legend that is John Mac.
Didn't the Green berets get trained by the RMC?.
.."If someone surrenders to you then remember they have that right in international law and ensure that one day they go home to their family.
