About the ending. Mikeal was seated in the studio, playing the repeating acoustic riff. Fredrik was standing behind him on the left, where the tuners are on the guitar. As he played Fredrik would just randomly detune the strings. They talked about it in an interview once
I love absolutely everything about this song, the keyboard solo and also the Pink Floyd-like guitar solo, the harmonies, the transitions, the lyrical content, etc.
Excellent reaction! 🤘😎 This song is just another banger on my favorite Opeth album. It's about sadness, and the lyrics "ocean of sorrow" hearken back to Coil and the "fields of sorrow". He carries his burden of sorrow, and relates to this same feeling in others, but ultimately realizes the closing line: "the ocean of sorrow is you." 😭 Oof right in the feels!
This might be the best song ever written. It's about an ex girlfriend, who had a two year old son, commit suicide. Hessian Peel and Hex Omega handles that issue too, I believe.
@@amarandrapathak6273 I guess it is an acquired taste. I once changed a beautiful Tejano woman into a Metal Head using nothing but Opeth's Morningrise album. 🙂🤘
I don't think that the guitar getting detuned more and more at the end doesn't have any deep meaning, but is just a little joke they decided to put at the end then added the laugh as joke which might even be the laugh from the situation at the studio when they did it. Mics would pick up the laugh because they were recording acoustic guitar.

It is one of my many favorites, and for me it's the best keyboard solo ever!!!!!

Do you mean you've never heard Demon of the Fall? 🤯
@@MorlokKurak777 I have, but I guess I stopped midway because I couldn't really get into it.

@@MorlokKurak777 It is very different. Because I absolutely love Orchid and Nectar is my favourite track from Morningrise.
How about that Swedish music!?
