Thanks for watching! If you're still reading this we'd like to wish you Happy Holidays!
This has to be set in an alternate universe to the first movie because nowhere in the original movies timeline can this movie fit
Fr
The Beauty and the beast sequels fit in better as Belle is in the castle for like a 4-6 months the Christmas one seems to take a week and the other one like 3 days?
THANK YOU!
Actually this film is set between the events in the original where Amos threatens to shoot Tod but before Copper leaves for his hunting.
@@raymondmcginley5676 Which also wouldn't make sense because the old lady says "you caused a lot of trouble yesterday" when they leave for hunting, and both Tod and Copper are way too happy about Tod just being in Amos' property
The CG Circus is in town!
I'mma name an animation studio that!

Don't forget bad Disney sequels with good animation
7. Singing in a foreign language.
Even though he doesn't even hate 2 of those things, but still gr8 b8.
From the first seconds where Doug groans you know this film is terrible
mounir maged to be fair, he didn't do that with Cars 2
Massive2341 Yeah
with cars 2 he was just blunt. Probably cause all things considered it's not that bad. Just bad.
I figured the film would be terrible based on the 6:13 length.
That's usually a sign that he is about to throw a hissy fit.
Can you really call it a hissy fit when it's justified, though?
I wouldn’t mind seeing an ACTUAL sequel to The Fox And The Hound, further exploring the complexity of their relationship after Todd runs off to live in the woods.
Am I the only one surprised Copper never mentioned Tod to chief? Like it would be interesting what Chief thinks about it and who knows maybe it would idk HELP his friend Tod not being murdered alive by Chief when he appears?
How many times do I have to keep on rewatching?!?!
"I'm not going to act like the original was a classic"
I....would disagree. I would disagree strongly. I don't just mean on an opinion level either, I'm pretty sure objectively speaking Fox and the Hound is literally a Disney Classic.
Blake Hannah his opinion. not yours
Well I don't think something becomes a "classic" based on individual opinion is what I was getting at. Not every movie from 50 years ago is called a classic only the movies that audiences largely agree on are considered that and then some underrated films as well among niche communities.
My point was that in objective terms I'm pretty sure that regardless of how he feels about the movie it's a Disney Classic.
If somebody said they personally didn't like Casa Blanca at all and thought it was garbage it wouldn't sudden make it a correct statement to say "This movie is not a classic" no, of course it's a classic. A movie being a classic doesn't mean you have to like it personally, it's just an acknowledgment of it's influence, impact, and favorability among the general audience
the original was a classic no fixing required, whoever said this need a sequel IS A BIG FAT FUCK LIAR.
-The Grump
Blake Hannah
Fox and The Hound 1 is still one of my favorite Disney movies. I actually hope its Live Action adaptation can fix its problems.
It's a classic in my eyes.
Why has there never been a CG circus in my town? :(
All circuses are CG when you live in the Matrix.
Ha, I only get the Traditional Circuses.
Would you take a stop motion circus?
I prefer live action circuses
There was, but because it was CG, you missed it.
There was *one* other thing I liked about it: one crossoverish easter egg. The cat mentions she once was the girlfriend of Thomas O'Malley from "The Aristocats".
I watched this movie religiously when I was a kid and I don't remember that line at all.
I thought she said his name was Leroy.
Anyone else getting a Home on the Range Vibe from this movie.....
TheSamirEzz Same here. In fact, why wasn't this a sequel to Home On The Range? That would have at least made more sense and would have made this more tolerable.
Alex Ramirez true, watching this i see little difference cutesy farm animals, southern setting, etc...
Surprisingly, _Home on the Range_ is still a lot better than this.
Home On The Range. Because the world needed a Rosanne Barr music number in their cartoon.
That, and a little bit of Oliver and Company
"Copper isn't a stray? He cant be a Singing Stray!" says the dogs with an owner and technically not strays anymore...
I remember watching this film as a kid, and only thinking by the end: What was the point of it?
ikr
Buck Wade That ended was AWFUL! Everybody was happy and shit but We all know what happens last on!
I remember just hearing the title and thinking 'what was the point of it'...
It's just animated Disney fanfiction.
Fox and the hound 2 is shit
The End
Mulan 2 Broke the Nostalgia Critic
The Fox and The Hound 2 Shattered him into millions of pieces. Merry Christmas
Steven Bedford Hopefully Cinderella 3 will help rebuild him.
I think we are sapping away the Nostalgia Critics love for Christmas with these Disney Sequels
This movie was made because of charts.
What did the chart say?
Jacob Carpenter Get more money.
Moonbeam True
"But the chart says..."
Moonbeam I hate charts :(
Anybody agree that Doug should review the Disney original movies next year? The ones that air only on Disney Channel? That would be interesting!
I asked that already lol
I'd rather hear his thoughts on the animated series.
He did. In the first Disneycember. A few years ago.
***** Only one film
I think he meant Disney Channel original movies.
Why do all the animals shake their ass? ... It is really uncomfortable ._.
TheBlueArmageddon
Let that one bit sum up this entire movie...
I've beginning to notice this a lot in kid's movies. Just watch any trailer from an animated kids movie (particularly the low budget films or smaller studio films) that involves dancing, there's bound to be ass shaking.
I think it's because studio execs think little kids find butts entertaining.
I think it's either because the producers of these movies believe that all kids think butt humour is funny or it's because they're an evil corporation trying to turn all the kids into furries.
fetish
I'm surprised he didn't mention the whole "Liar Revealed" mess.
That's cuz there's so much else wrong that it kinda gets buried.
He kinda briefly mentioned it, but didn't focus on it because like Gage Peruti said, there was too much else wrong with the film.
My little sisters watched this movie on REPEAT for MONTHS. I wanted to die; it's imbedded in my soul.
I feel you. My sister was the same way. Looking back on it she wondered why she liked it, something I’ve been asking her for years
Same
Jokes on you my, younger siblings watched this on REPEAT for 5 years. I had to go to therapy of a century.
The sad part is, there actually could have been a good Fox And The Hound sequel. Maybe it could be about Tod and Vixey having cubs, but it's hunting season, and Copper has to try and protect the family of foxes, or something like that. Golden opportunity missed...
IKR, that would've been a great idea. Maybe sometime on my Quotev account (CassBall) I might do a How Would I Fix article on this movie.
That could be a plot for the fox and the hound 3
Lets make a movie about country music singing dogs what could possibly go wrong
Buzzard F i dont know.. i don't thinks it would be interessing...
-ok, let's put on it one of the most dark and forgotten movie we're done to make it more cutie
-OH GOD! You're a fucking genius!
"Lets make a movie about country music singing bears what could possibly go wrong"
- Walt Disney Pictures, 2002
30% Rotten Tomatoes, box office at half of the budget
"...Dear god, what have we done."
NeoShadowWolf I liked that movie...
I mean I get why they went back to when they were kids, but at the same time. We KNOW the end result, we know it's only a matter of time before things blow up during this movie.
Country animals shaking their butts at the screen. , thats what went wrong.
Yet I dont wanna be right.
The premise alone tips you off on how bad this will be. "Ooh, Fox and Hound join a band in the middle of their heart-warming friendship that gets ripped apart eventually". Not dumbed down at all.
Wait. There was a sequel to this? That's...odd.
Isagail Carshuen yes and it's SHIT! Omg this movie makes me so angry!
I heard about it when I was a kid, I thought it was an actual sequel with them grown, you can imagine my disappointment.
Billy Barnett yes I can tell
How can it even be called a sequel when it uses young Copper and Todd, and the movie left off when they were adults? This is more like a side-by-side movie, like Lion King 1-1/2.
my thoughts exactly. it REALLY didn't need a sequel/prequel/cash-in
Ahhhh yessss
The good old "liar revealed" story
I LOVE IT!!
ASSAHOLIC BITCH
This movie is basically a cake but it's just frosting
I'm so glad that they canceled Dumbo 2.
Was that actually a thing?
Yep--my Dad kept mentioning how that was SUPPOSED to be a thing, and that all he knew about it was: "It's going to be about friends--"
Needless to say, my Dad was not interested in it. XD
Yeah, even Walt admitted in the day he did Dumbo for the sole purpose of making back the money he lost on Fantasia, so making a sequel to the one and only work even Walt didn't put his heart into? Yeah, that's a recipe for disaster.
Brian Vaira I hear they will still do a live action Dumbo even though the movie has no humans in the movie. Man that will suck but the pink elephant scene might be interesting in live action.
I still remember the "sneak peek" they had on the Dumbo DVD. Concept art and all.
I was expecting an sequel with their children when I heard they were gonna make a sequel.
Zhao Dragión ah see but THAT would've been a good idea, which rarely happens with Disney sequels
I hope you don't mean their children in a Lady And The Tramp 2 kind of way, seeing as they're both males of different species...
I think what he meant was that todd and copper would have children with vixey and whatever girl dog copper may have ended up with and that the adventure would've been around the pups.
NinjaTyler True.
Joe Homer No.
Ben Wood Yup.
All my life I thought this movie was about their children and now I see I was wrong, and God the plot of the movie now sound even more worse
Who else believes the story was originally gonna been it’s own thing but Disney thought “let’s make it to a sequel to 1 of out animated movies”
That would make so much sense really. I liked the movie but it didn't really have anything to do with the first one. It didn't expand anything.
at least you didn't blow out the mic this time.
The first fox in the hound was my favorite childhood movie. I love it so I've been waiting since the start of Disneycember for him to talk about this movie.
Time-wise, this movie doesn't make sense. A dog and a fox age much faster than humans. In the original, Tod and Copper were only friends for a short period of time before Copper had to leave for the hunting season. How the hell can you squeeze the stupid plot in The Fox and the Hound 2 in between?
MASSEFFECTfan101
My guess is that it takes place during "the best of friends" musical number, in the fade to black.
MASSEFFECTfan101 Exactly what I thought. I watched the first one again, and I struggled to find any part where it would be plausible for this movie's scenarios to occur.
+Christopher Spaulding
But that was in the span of a day.
Hell, at the end of the musical number, Copper gets scolded and ends up being tied up the next day (for the first time hence Todd coming to look for him.) Yet in this movie, not only do they treat it like it's a common occurrence (since Todd gets the collar off him like nothing,) but it can't possibly have been any time AFTER that point (since after the shit that goes down when Todd visits Copper while he's tied up, the next day he's being kept inside and Copper leaves that same day.)
Let's just act like this shit is not canon, please, that way make me more fucking happy.
@@christopherspaulding9283 That doesn't add up, because Tod meets Amos and Chief for the first time after that song.
This movie drove me up the wall as a kid, because I watched them back-to-back. It just didn't fit into the first film's timeline, and it drove me crazy trying to figure it out.
This is Without a doubt The Worst Disney Sequel Ever and also the Most Unnecessary ,Pointless ,Stupidiest and Boring Disney Sequel Ever. God I Hate This Movie. (and Yes is Worse Then Mulan 2)
I fucking hate this sequel as Kid and as a adult >:(
I can actually sit down and watch Mulan 2..I couldnt even make it past the first act in this movie..it is literally the most boring movie Disney has ever made..
Why waste your energy hating a freakin' movie?!
vianjelos this and Home on The Range
what a long title for a movie
Is Cinderella 3 next? I sure hope so as I really want to know his opinion on it.
ThinkingOfYou75 i believe it's tomorrow
ThinkingOfYou75
No it's Cinderella 4: Filing Royal Taxds
+Mafman According to the Disneycember list on the Channel Awesome wiki site (which has been right every day so far) Cinderella 3 is tommorow, then Once Upon a Christmas on Christmas Day.
Been looking forward to cinderella 3 the most since he announced he was doing the sequels
Yep! That one is Fantasia compared to this crap!
You could say this was a RUFF one to get through...
...I'll see myself out...
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
We can all agree that Doug gives zero fox about this sequel...
*Angry Growls*
Josh McPheron Please do. And kindly stay away.
TheRoflcer You're all barking up the wrong tree with these puns.
Uh oh the CG circus is in town
Here to look uncanny as Hell
They're not "really singing". Like in the last film, humans can only hear dogs make dog noises, its just that the movie translates all that as English for the audiences. I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THIS, and even I KNOW what they're trying to do.
Still doesn't make much sense
As someone who has seen this, you're right. They even show the dogs howling the song when they first arrive at the theater, and then they zoom into Copper's mind to show it's from the point of view of the animals.(I'm not kidding)
+ChillCaladbolg well, type "dog sings" into youtube and just see how many people want to watch that. They don't need much talent for people to love dogs doing anything.
Geo Wiz Then why didn't they just howl? Alpha and Omega had some good howling without using words and that was fine, even though that movie sucked too.
You underestimate the appreciation people have to their pets, even IF all they're doing is bark. These are likely the same audience members who created movies like Beverly Hill Chihuahua. :P
this copyright free stock music is killing me
Well it's either that or getting banned for UA-cam's stupid copyright system.
RedfurredPikachu yep
I was under the impression that music was from some Disney film.
It probably was, just another testament to how bland and byt the numbers this movie was
The music fills in the background so it isn't just talking. This is coming from someone who does just that: talk with no background music or sounds. Also, limiting sounds from the movie and not using copyrighted music makes getting a strike less likely. Hell, I got copyright struck for singing my own unique version of a song with no audio from the original version. The only reason it doesn't effect me is that I don't monetize my videos.
This sequel was honestly the first time I got legitimately angry at a movie as a kid.
3:03 Seeing Tod doing the Egyptian while the background has pigs shaking their asses...
The Godfather: "Look how they massacred my Boy."
What is it with all these sequels not being actual sequels?
In my opinion, this was never considered to be a continuation of the original. It was never to be, however the only gap I see what they were doing was how the two friends interacted to each other in the past and how strong it shows being the best of friends in conflicts.
Tell us Doug where on this doll Fox and the Hound 2 hurt you
I don't think there's a way to point to your soul.
*Takes the doll and turns it completely inside out*
Tadicuslegion78 lol
On the part covered in Peanut Butter
I would like this comment, but it has 69 likes and I refuse to ruin that XD
What is with this film with it's butt fetish? Everyone keeps swinging them side to side.
You got something against butts?
The film has a great appreciation for cartoon dog butt. Thats all.

"Woof"
- Nostalgia Critic, 2016
MoogSource Vermona Still it looks like they took inspiration from Disney porn. I feel dirty just from looking at it.
Michael Siegler Well Im pretty sure that more than one person on Disney staff had a thing for Dixie
The first one is one of my favorites!
Fox and The Hound is one of my all time favorite films and one of the last movies Don Bluth worked on.
that is, with Disney lol
And it shows. In some ways, it felt like a Don Bluth movie.
And his fingerprints linger in the film. In a good way of course.
Dude, Imagine if this movie had Phil Collins' music...
Crítico de la Tecnología I AM SAD! I AM SAD! LOOK AT ME I AM SAD!
Oh gosh....
What's wrong with Phil Collins music? Tarzan and Brother Bear were great.
i don't see a problem with his music but i don't think it fits for country music
You hush about that! Phil Collins has some great music! Genesis, his band, has some amazing music! When people speak bad about Phil Collins, they're not just upsetting Phil Collins fans, but also Genesis fans! Not the best option to take :P
In all honesty, I feel that a sequel could work. Like for example, have it be a deal that the owner of copper gets in trouble in the woods, and he hesitantly asks Todd's help to save him. Putting some light on them, showing that even though they've grown up, and are naturally enemies...they are still able to have an olive branch and work together. Or have it be a deal that Todd's owner actually saves Coppers owner making them see they aren't so different. This...doesn't even try.
When I was older I saw this in a DVD store and asked my dad why he never showed me it. He said he didn't want it to ruin what I thought of the first movie. I thank him.
next up: Cinderella 3
nope
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas
thats an awesome movie
Erik Heini he does the sequels first, then the seperate movies
nathan prins Your telling me he's going to pass up the opportunity to review Christmas movies on both Christmas day and Christmas eve?
All right! After seeing Lindsay admit that Cinderella 3 is actually kind of OK, I'm curious to see if Doug agrees.
1:23 HOW IS THAT DOG STANDING? WHERE IS ITS CENTER OF BALANCE?????
Fun fact: In spanish, Copper is called Toby, and the movie is actually called "Todd and Toby"
I don't know why did i need to tell you that
Baby Einstein's but without the education
Someone make that
Someone did. It's called The Fox and the Hound 2.
Okay, Doug--you know it would be a lot less complicated to call him "Amos" instead of "the owner of Todd" or "Jumba" instead of "the Russian alien," right?
Who has time to remember character names? :P
wasn't amos the owner of toby?
TheHeroOfTomorrow He has admitted in the past that his memory is terrible when it comes to names.
Would it have been easier? I mean, he only mentioned the guy once, and would have had to suffix Amos with "The owner of Todd" anyway, right? After all, I completely forgot about the character, as it's been close to 18 years since I saw The Fox And The Hound.
why has no one mentioned the fact that amos owns copper not todd wtf did yall watch the first movie
It was bad, but still doesn't beat Mulan 2's bullshit with mushu being an asshole and all the dumb shit that happened there.
"I'm not going to act like the original was a classic"
Oh, boy. That triggered me so much!
They BROKE Him, they broke doug walker... Damn you movie!!
Please, we broke him the minute he even considered doing this Disneycember.
Lord Zephyros uh oh
Maybe tomorrow will be better for him. He's doing Cinderella 3, a surprisingly much better sequel.
Lord Zephyros He did Son of the Mask he'll survive this
Don't worry Doug! Cinderella 3 is next! To me it's the best Disney sequel.
At least the female hound is cute, in that wierd furry way
Oh boy, Fox and the Hound 2, I bet this will be great!
(Video starts with Doug sighing)
... I think I was right!
I can't wait for him to talk about The Brave Little Toaster Go's To Mars!
Christian Romero wait that exists?
lol, I remember that movie.
Jupiter9099 We meet again.
Christian Romero ikr
"You looking for your pet fox?"
"Yes, I'm so worried"
".... My eh, Dog is pretty good at-"
"No thank you"
"Okay"
the 1st one is my favorite disney movie
Rupert Driggs It's my favorite movie too. It was the only movie in history that made me want a happier ending because the characters were so good that i really cared about them. I mainly felt sorry for Tod because his life really sucks. He lost his mother, almost got killed by chief and Amos (twice), his best friend rejects him because of something he didn't make because it was chief the one chasing Tod it isn't like if he wad leading towards the train, his owner left him, Copper and Amos tried to kill him and he got really injured fighting to protect his friend,in fact he was involved more in the fight than Copper and in the ending he is the only one that can't see any of the people he grew up anymore (he can't see Tweed ,Copper , dinky, boomer or big mama)
Dude ,Tod's life really sucks.
LarryGamerKoopa he got a girlfriend who wanted 6 babies, that must stand for something
Eclipse Yeah but ... There is still so many bad things bad in his life .Personaly I don't like the girlfriend,it is not because the character is bad annoying or something, really the only reason why i don't like her is because because of her tod and copper are not reunited at the end . In other films I wouldn't care but as I said I really cared about the characters.
May not have been my favorite as a kid, but it made me think about life and wonder if I would be able to keep my friends or if we would be split up, which was rare for most of the kids' films I watched. I love it more as an adult. It's not grand or epic, but it's simple and well done, heck sometimes sad and scary. The build up music stops my heart every time, and seeing Todd and Copper fight is the hardest moment to sit through.
Same 😃 with Atlantis The Lost Empire and Robin Hood being my 2nd and 3rd favourite films
I haven't even watched the first one yet
MrGamerTH You should it's better then Doug says it is.
MrGamerTH it's SO sad. I can't watch it anymore cuz it's makes me cry. But still a good film so give it a shot when you get the chance!
I feel the first one is really best seen as a kid. The first half is really cutesy. But it does get serious in the second half. I loved it as a kid but I'm not sure what I'd think seeing it for the first time now.
Get a box of tissues for when you do.
I just watched it, I loved it! Disney sure knows how to make you scared and cry a lot of times
Some of the scenes were pretty fucked up
This is a disgrace to the original. The Original Fox And The Hound was good and very emotional but the sequel? Horrible as they were in a country band.
As the original is one of my personal favorite Disney movies, I agree entirely. This abomination was/is my Secret Of NIMH II.
But the chart says......
I liked this movie.
It was a happier Version though
The only thing good about this was the animated and that’s it and maybe Amos and Widow both looking for their pets having a heart to heart talk. Plus Copper was a major asshole to Todd throughout this movie
The first Fox And The Hound is one of my favorite movies but I've never seen the sequel. The only thing I know about the second one is I think Reba McEntire (however you spell it) plays the girl dog.
Oh boy, Cinderella 3 is next, I can't wait for him to do that one :D
Sure, The Fox and the Hound 2 was kinda sucky, but this film was special for one thing; It was the final appearance of the classic Walt Disney Pictures logo (outside castle cameos in films like Wreck-it Ralph, Saving Mr. Banks, and Prom Night), and Ratatoullie doesn't count because it's not exactly the same.
Wow, I never realized that neat! :)
Dixie saves this. Much like a boring ball game, all you need to save a disney movie is a hot dog.
Doug sounded like a disappointed parent it adds more impact to the review in my opinion
Country music?
"It's not ova! Hounds!"
I loved the first movie as a kid, knowing that this exists makes me sad.
I just feel bad for any of the great voice actors who were constantly hired for these movies to lend additional voices. Frank Welker, Jim Cummings, Jeff Bennett, Rob Paulsen, Tara Strong, Jodi Benson, Kath Soucie, Jennifer Hale, Corey Burton, Susanne Blakeslee, Cree Summer, Phil LaMarr, Keith Ferguson, Russi Taylor, Grey Delisle, Kari Wahlgren, Kevin Michael Richardson, Jason Marsden, etc. Such great talent having to spend so much time dedicated to working on these half-baked movies. Its really sad if you think about it 😔
I've always wondered why this movie existed
We've got to have MONEEEEYYYY
They should make the second one about Tod and Copper's kids. The story could be about teaching their kids that no matter how different they are everyone can still get a long.
I remember when I thought CGI was a lot more expensive than 2D.
The first Fox and the Hound delivered a very strong message about prejudice and racism. Tod wants to be friends with Copper, but the other animals are genuinely afraid of him and have a prejudice against him. But for good reason. Because he's a hunting dog and may someday hunt them. Copper wants to be friends with Tod, but Chief and Slade distrust and hate Tod. And for good reason. Because they know that foxes will raid farms and kill livestock.
The message here is that prejudice doesn't come out of nowhere. There are reasons why we distrust and fear our fellow man. There's bad history, our environments, the way we were raised, and all sorts of factors that allow prejudice to exist. It's not as easy as just calling someone ignorant and saying they have no reason to feel the way they do. We have to understand why people feel the way they do. Understand why they don't trust us. Why they fear us. And then we can understand what we need to do to overcome and change that.
And then the sequel was like "Don't abandon your friends! Keeping promises is important!" like we've heard a million times before.
Anyone wanna tell me where there are so many butts in these clips?
Not questioning Doug's editing skills, just wondering about the film as a whole. Yo, Disney, what's with all the furry butts?
Mad Hatter there are alot of scenes like that for some reason, people with a certain fetish probably aren't complaining about that though.
***** They're twerking? I thought twerking was a specific type of dance, and what the animals in the film are doing is just a generic ass shake. Or am I just completely wrong on that?
***** There were close-ups? I haven't seen this movie in years so I must've forgotten. Well I guess I'll take your word for it and say they were twerking.
i like how they used a banjo kazooie track
what if that was it's intention?
"how can we improve opinion on F&TH?"
"idk... make a shitty sequel?"
Maybe the premise itself wasn't awful, it just didn't fit the franchise AT ALL. This might have worked great for something like an 'Oliver and Company 2'. In fact, given stuff like the strays vs owned dogs class contention, the goofy singing dogs and the meta joke about them switching between talking and barking and the humans almost catching onto it, even the new characters' designs and personalities and the more cheerful but still kind of sketchy animation style with odd bits of CGI, I'm almost tempted to think that WAS actually the plan at some point, but then mid production some Disney exec came in and said "Ehhh, the 80s stuff isn't really marketable now, ernnnn, Billy Joel's kinda expensive, errmmm, turn it into Fox and the Hound, that'll probably work as good", which likely would also explain a lot of the film's other defects.
Hell just making it a sequel for Fox and the Hound so the band rekindles Tod and Copper's friendship and lightens the bitter ending of the first. Sure it's kinda dumb but its more relevant and less awkward and ominous than a midquel. Hell, even just some bookends of adult Tod and Copper remembering some past moment of friendship. ANYTHING works better than the direction they took.
Merry motherfucking Christmas.
I like the original a lot. It is a really deep message about breeded prejudice and about true friendship. Now I do kind of get annoyed that the hunter is mostly "the bad guy" but he is redeemed a bit. The original, like Bambi, has a lot of quiet moments in with the "cute" moments. Also I cry so hard when the widow leaves Todd.
It was weird how Copper suddenly couldn't smell properly, when that was such a big part of him in the original. That's even how he met Tod, he caught his scent from a distance when the experienced older dog couldn't.
One of the few Disney sequels I have not seen, but feelings woofual Doug.
I can think of a good way to fill in the gap without it being a waste. The chief passes away after getting sick and Copper is in a grieving state. Upon this, he reflects on his time with Tod. Copper then sneaks out one night to reconnect with Tod and his girlfriend who just had kids, have them catch up and apologize about what happened, and both Copper and Tod tell their stories about how they spent their lives during their time apart. Like with Tod dealing with loneliness and anxiety after constantly being told when Cooper comes back he’ll surly kill him(up to the point where he has nightmares about it), and Copper struggling to live up to the expectations of being a hunting dog. During his time as a hunting dog he grows increasingly anxious and upset at the thought that he would one day have to kill an animal. At one point, the chief actually kills a fox right in front of him when their out on a hunting exposition. Over the course of the trip, Copper starts losing touch with who he is and begins questioning his morality. It’d be way darker and add more to Copper & Tod’s individualities and dynamic colors without feeling like a complete waste.
I remember that while I did enjoy watching this as a kid, I never really treated it like the sequel (or prequel) that it is. I always regarded it completely separate. After I watched it the first time, it was like "well this has no necessary point to the original and the characters almost don't even feel the same but its cute." It wasn't like other Disney sequels to me, like it didn't feel like something even worth getting mad about like Mulan 2 because it literally didn't even feel like it was trying to be a sequel. Basically, if it was the exact same movie but new, original characters, it would have been the same. Probably better because then it wouldn't have a 'shitty sequel' stigma attached to it to make it a bad movie.
Out of all the Disney Sequels Doug is coveting, *THIS* was the one I was dreading the most since Fox and the Hound is a brilliant movie in my eyes.
Glad to see this flick needs to go the way of Ol' Yeller.
Only the animals understand the dog's singing... I don't know how you didn't understand that
And knowing that this movie was one of Patrick Swayze's last roles...it's such a bad burn...
If anything I enjoy the amvs of this movie more than the actual film itself.
This sequel is pretty forgettable
This movie's story could've much better fitted as an episode of Hugo the Jungle Animal, cause the story has so little to do with the original characters.
In fact, Hugo befriends a fox that becomes his companions, so there are already similarities. And I think I can actually think of an episode very alike this one.

He didn't even mention the (good) slapstick in this, nor the dog worm "I'm scratching my butt on the floor because it itches" scenes! D:
Don't worry Doug, Disneycember is almost over.
The ending is very bittersweet because you pretty much knowing how it will end.
Can we at LEAST admit the music is really good.
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas (24th)
Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas (25th)
Cinderella 3 (26th)
I'm betting on it
I can't believe I actually used to like this movie when I was a kid.
Don't feel bad, you were a kid and did not know better. You are older now and can clearly recognize that this movie was crap.
No worries, girl. Same here.
I have to admit. For days, I couldn't get this movie out of my head. My favorite book is The Fox and the Hound. My favorite animated movie is The Fox and the Hound. This movie was stuck in my head for days, and I believe it was trying to convince me it was good. It wasn't. However, I do wish this follow-up, even though it was unnecessary, could've been better. I really do.
Not once did Doug mention Reba McEntire in this review. I am disappoint.
I know.
Personally Fox & the Hound is one of my favorites.. it is so deep and has such a special place in my heart. "We'll always be friends forever.." ANYWAYS so yeah this movie broke my heart.
