Im curious what type of computer specs u are working with?!? I can do most things without issue but when i get into any heavy fusion stuff my computer struggles. Im about to upgrade my computer so i would love to know what some folks are working with who have no worries when it comes to building some heavy effects in fusion and what not. Thanx!
I used to salivate over all the cool effects that you have tutorials for but new that I couldn't do them thanks to my 5 year old 2GB GPU... NO MORE! I finally sold my house and a few of my family members to buy a whole new PC including a stupidly fast and expensive GPU. Now I'm going to be putting these transitions in just for fun! Thanks Alex - you're a legend.
For me the playback was great initially but it started to really bog down about half way through the playback as the effect was getting heavy. I dug a little and found that on the Matrix node in the Inspector in Fusion changing the Render Type from the default of Software Renderer to OpenGL Renderer helped a lot (oddly OpenGL UV Renderer didn't work at all). It was a bit slower to render at the start when there was little of the matrix animation on screen, but once the effect got heavy it held pretty much solid performance throughout.
Apart from the matrix effect you just showed me a whole new part of resolve that i didnt even know existed. Now im gonna play around in fusion a lot more.
thank you so much MR alex, almost two yers ago i started watching your tutorials and now I am a professional video editor and start laking living with it . i really can not express my thanks.
Great video, Many thanks. Missed you the last couple of weeks and then Bang! you are back with this. Not only a great tutorial, but also an open door to a whole range of new templates to play with. Keep up the good work.
Black Majic should hire you to do their videos! Always easy and to the point with enough detail to make editing easy & fun. Thanks for what you do Alex!
Cool, that matrix effect is actually pretty good. I remember there used to be pretty complex tutorial showing how to make this effect a while back. Nice that the are making more templates in resolve.
That looks cool. Now I want to create a loop of it to output into my ATEM Mini Pro to mix into my live video feed. Got to do something to make those boring Zoom meetings more interesting! Do you have any hints about how to make a loop without the join being too noticable?
Copy the clip and play it in reverse. That will make a perfect loop and the backwards nature of it won't be very noticeable if the clip is decent (either a subtle swaying motion that looks natural in either direction or a long enough clip to not spot any patterns), especially with the matrix effect on top of it (obviously don't reverse the matrix effect heh).
Great tutorial as ever. But just a little request not related to this video, but could you do a tutorial on how to draw on to images etc e.g. I am filming a documentary and want to show the route on a map. Cheers
I have just started with Davinci and your tutorial really gave me a blast. Thanks a lot. Maybe you can give me an advice, though. Despite cranking the contrast of the video up to 2000 the outline of the face are still hard to see. Is there a way to make the face more visible perhaps?
@@MrAlexTech all's great thanks Alex - thanks for asking man. It's great to see you back btw (he says hoping not to sound like a creepy stalker 🙄🤦♂️🤣). I hope all is great with you and yours - and cheers for this tutorial again. I'll be giving this a go later 🤘
Hey Alex! Thanks for another great video. What a cool effect! If I use this as an intro with the effect playing, what’s the best way to transition to “real (no effects)” video seamlessly without any jarring jumps? Thanks again. You’re the best!
Too sick! Any type of footage that works better than others for the last effect? I guess they need to be close-ups? Except for turning up the contrast, should the footage for example be very bright? Was your density turned way up? Sorry, that was a lot of questions haha
Thanks for another great resolve video, Alex! But... those "symbols" are katagana, on of the two japanese syllable-alphabets besides Kanji. :) Smiling face...
It should work the same way if I used a mask of myself? Im working on an intro for my biz channel. I want to use the matrix "exit" (into the phone) and end up in my shop.
Some of them are limited to the Studio version. Sometimes you can activate that message accidently and there's a fix for that here: ua-cam.com/video/VpzY8ahrHcA/v-deo.html
Hi Alex, I have learned many amazing things from this channel. But I got stuck in getting a transparent render in davinci. If you can make a video about renders that would be very helpful for all of us.
I dont get it, my randomness doesnt work at all. and the letters go past waaayy too quickly. Idk if they changed the effect but its completely different then yours when i changed it the exact same way. It also doesnt display the numbers
Hi Alex, crear video and explication! I was finding a way to slow down the fall of the text and add a reverse effect( letter go from bottom to top ).I try to play with all the fusion nodes of the effect but cant find a way to do this.Any suggestion?
When I go into composite for the fusion clip to change it to foreground, foreground isn't there. Infact none of the options below vivid light are there.
cool tutorial, as you always do! trying to be a little smart ass, the fonts and „matrix-style“ characters are Japanese characters. mostly called Katakana カタカナ🤓
anytime i try to use the same settings the matrix effect basically freezes up davinci and wont have any playback and runs extremely poorly. any fix for that? running a 2080 ti 5900x with 32gb so its not a matter of bad specs.
Having a similar issue - all 32GB get used, I have to close DaVinci, wait for the mem to be released, then re-open and it works fine, until I make another layering change. :(
Same! I want it to be good. I hope it is. I recently rewatched the original trilogy and really enjoyed all three. The sequels were actually better than i remembered.
NOTE: This is resource heavy!!! Especially at high resolutions. Just keep that in mind 🙂👍

Yeaah there's loads of cool templates in there 😃 I like the Portal one! Ha.
@@MrAlexTech I like that one too. I remember making a portal from scratch after watching a tutorial about Dr strange's portal from learn now fx
After 30 seconds, me: "This will be the best Davinci Resolve video ever." - 7:45 mins later: I was right.
Ha I hope it lived up to your expectations! 😃
@@MrAlexTech Absolutely. 🙂
Really good! Thanks for sharing 👍
I could watch a whole video on font suggestions.
Thanks Alex for the Matrix effect much appreciated!
Whoa! This is fantastic! Can't wait to try this!
thanks for the great tut.. cant wait for tut about displacement, glitch transitions u used in this tut..
Great tut! You have been knocking it out of the park lately. Resolve has always been a mystery to me and you made it look really simple. Thank you!
