I love the representation that this Family gives Black Americans, and I know this young woman is going to be highly successful regardless of where she studies
omg. who cares if she is black american? she is a young hardworking lady period. Race is irrelevant they are not representing black americans only, they are representing and inspiring every family with a hardworking child
This videos is SO IMPORTANT for US students currently thinking about college. I tell my high school students they 100% should consider applying abroad for all of these reasons and more but they think I’m crazy. Thank you so much for making this and good luck with the application process!!!
It has been an absolute pleasure to watch this families journey. This a testament to good family values. Good luck on your decision and I'm confident you will choose wisely.
Excellent message from you, Sunoa! Your maturity and elegant communication skills will serve you well no matter where you land throughout your life. Best wishes.
An American can study at great Universities in Germany (even in English, depending on your major) and tuition is FREE! One may pay only a "Semester Fee" which may only be about max €500.
One of my top students went to university in the UK. Your daughter reminds me of her. She did well and seemed to enjoy herself! All graduated now! I think it was a good call. Best of luck to your kiddo.
I love it Sunoa! I'm so excited for you. After meeting you guys 365 F.I.R.E Class '23, (last at the table - Coimbra/trying to guess where); You''ve decided on the UK. I just know you'll excel. I love that format. Exams kept me anxious. I could always demonstrate knowledge and understanding in class but... You make me proud kiddo. 💝💖💝
Royal Holloway, set the most beautiful of grounds, is a very well regarded institution & was founded to promote academic excellence/opportunity for women. At 55 yrs of age, I have just returned to study for my masters (at Uof Manchester) which is fun, if a little scary at times. Good luck, wherever you choose to study, hope you have a fantastic experience - life-long-learning!
Awesome content. For a parent trying to understand the sometimes out of reach tuition costs in the US, options like this are now on the table. What do the UK schools look for as high school GPA and standardized test scores. Keep up the great work!
It’s great to see more Americans warm up ti this idea. I did my Masters degree at a UK university at a fraction of what it would cost in the US at half the time. As long as you go to a reputable top university, it’s a win-win-win situation.
Also, over 400 schools abroad accept 529 money!! And I've attended both. US schools in general are there for an "experience" if you want to be challenged, go abroad.
I will be applying to medical school in Brisbane, Australia ....Queensland. still going cost me, but I just want out of America for a bit while I figure out my future home abroad. Thanks for the info.
You guys are all doing great as a family. Loved this video. Wishing the best for these young ladies and all the young people out there watching this video.
A university friend of my daughter had a great experience studying abroad. *She went to London School of Economics and Political Science. MS in Local Economic Development. Congratulations on Your Rich Rich Journey 💝🦋
Great content on alternatives to the US education system. I have a coworker who sent their kids to the Philippines for undergrad and back to US for grad school. Came out significantly cheaper than straight US route
I love this content. I have two teens that will be on the road to college in two years and I would love to see how this story turns out. This can be a series on its own. Thank you for sharing and wish your family all the best !
I can't believe how time has passed so quickly. Sunoa is a well versed young adult. I wish you the best during your college years. I'm sure you'll do just fine. It's a disciplined life for sure, but it will pay off. God bless you!
I 🥰 this as one who has 2 UK graduate degrees (University of Warminster & King’s College London), and who is encouraging more and more American families to send their kids, and themselves, to school overseas. I’m actually developing a webinar on this to educate families. I’ll add that UK classes are more globally diverse. Congratulations!
As an American who spent a good amount of time in the UK- If you're looking at uni in the UK, don't sleep on Northern Ireland or Scotland. I spent a good amount of time at QUB in Belfast. A Russel group uni, very open and welcoming place, tons of opportunities in terms of majors, and as they say in Ireland, some great craic. At the time it was the least expensive university center to live in the UK. It's gotten a bit nicer since then, but still very reasonably priced accommodations, too. Much of the same applies to Glasgow as well. Both Belfast and Glasgow are often overshadowed by their glitzier neighbors (Dublin and Edinburgh). Well worth a look.
Thanks for sharing & all the best! The one thing I’d say (as a foreigner who studied in the U.K. many many years ago) focus on getting into the BEST university you can for your grades. Oxbridge + the top Russell Group Uni’s is where I’d start. LSE, Kings College, Imperial & UCL are where I’d start in London. Good luck!
Hi Sunoa, I’m from the UK and went to uni here, it’s an excellent plan but I wouldn’t limit yourself to the South, some excellent universities up here in the North as well, Sheffield, Leeds, Newcastle to name a few 👍 good luck on your education journey
I agree the girls have really grown up. You guys should be very proud of yourself. She appears to be well rounded and very confident and knows what she wants! Luv it, congrats I’m sure she’ll do well she has great teachers.
British lady here : my advice is to choose one of the London universities - Royal Holloway Uni is out "in the middle of nowhere" - it's not even in the town of Egham or close to Egham train station. When your parents fly from Portugal, they will then have to get into central London to Waterloo station and then travel to Egham. Unless you really love campus universities, I would choose one of the London colleges. You will have access to all that London has to offer right on your doorstep. Xxx
Love that you are informing us on this!! Watching this with my children so they stay opened minded on options… and hey, i might even be in area when they go 🙏🏾😉! Great video sunoa! 👏🏾💯
Thank you so much for sharing this information with us. I really appreciate your insights. I know you will be very successful wherever you decide to go.
My child has decided on Aberystwyth, Wales for Uni. There are great programs all over Europe and the UK, but what you want to major in has a big play in where to chose. A lot of countries have undergraduate business programs that are 100% taught in English. A lot of the masters programs are also taught in English. If you want to study a BA in English Creative Writing, or English Lit then sticking to an English speaking country is probably a good choice. It's a big, bright, beautiful world out there. Explore!
Good video. As someone who taught at a UK university for 20 years, you give a great summary of the advantages of UK universities. One disadvantage is worth noting though. UK university degrees are very specialised- in most cases you only take courses in your major, and you need to know your major when you apply, as you are admitted to a particular degree subject. This is great if you know what you want to study, but a big problem if you don't. UK students have to decide their major when they are 17, which is too early for some.
Great for you for thinking outside the box. Have you also considered The Netherlands? My cousin studied there - he did a bachelors degree followed by a masters. All the classes he took were in English. I understand the tuition costs were considerably cheaper than the UK and the course lengths the same. Wish you the very best whatever you decide.
Great parents make great kids. Well done, Mom and Dad. Your daughter is well-spoken, beautiful, and ready to take on the world. Thank you for sharing this part of your family's journey.
I hit $113k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started last month 2024. Financial education is indeed required for more than 70% of the society in the country as very few are literate on the subject.
So interesting. I learned quite a bit.🙏🏾 Thankfully, I didn’t accumulate student loans for my bachelor’s. I do have a relative who’s in college and even with more than excellent grades and extracurriculars, she didn’t get much as far as tuition help in the USA.
Great video - showing my age now but rate Queen Mary's University and Royal Holloway - from an ex Londoner (ahem in their 40s). UK universities are amazing, would be funny if you had a course that gave a year abroad back in Portugal :-)
Great video! Wishing you all the best for your university education. Might I suggest you also consider schools outside London. London can be a tough place to live.
Aww what a great video! We have been thinking about moving abroad and even though my kids are not that age yet, what university they will attend has definitely been on my mind! Can you guys doing a video more about the cost of UK universities?
This was an awesome video🎉🎉🎉 Thank You for sharing this info, have you thought of maybe studying in Canada? Congrats on your college journey and the best of luck🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽👩🏾🏫👩🏽💻🎒
In the UK former polytechnics can be identified by their name, i.e. University of Westminster (former polytechnic) as opposed to Durham University (always been a university). Also seek out Russell Group universities.
This is not true, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of Manchester, University of Birmingham. Most universities that have always been universities are called University of (Name of Location)
Wow she’s really growing up fast and she’s such a beautiful and confident young lady.❤
What a great future she has thanks to her parent’s vision and her own hard work. I wish her the very best in her rich journey!
I love the representation that this Family gives Black Americans, and I know this young woman is going to be highly successful regardless of where she studies

🤔 Great job raising your daughter. Her communication skills are beautiful. Can definitely see your influence as parents .

Great video. I hope more U.S. born young people consider the UK & other international study abroad opportunities. 👍🏾

Aww, she grew up right before our eyes. Best wishes in the UK!
All the best to you, young lady.
I completed my 2nd Masters at Royal Holloway (MSc in Geopolitics and Security).
Brilliant research university ... Wishing you a fab time.
I can not believe it is time for her to go to college already. I love this.
Excellent message from you, Sunoa! Your maturity and elegant communication skills will serve you well no matter where you land throughout your life. Best wishes.

Wow, that is interesting.
French and Italian universities are similar.
My niece went to Queen Mary in London. Good luck and don't forget to be an entrepreneur.
She is an entrepreneur.❤

Please keep us posted. My daughter is in HS now. Thank you

3.0 GPA can get you into any university, and a 3.5-4.0 GPA will get you into any elite (UK Top 20) uni if you have a strong personal statement.
It’s great to see more Americans warm up ti this idea. I did my Masters degree at a UK university at a fraction of what it would cost in the US at half the time. As long as you go to a reputable top university, it’s a win-win-win situation.

I'm so proud of you!! Great job! Keep being a positive influence for the young people. I sent this to my 18 year old!
It's also a benefit to be in the same timezone as your friends and family. Good luck and thanks for sharing!

Bravo! 👏 👏I’m so happy and proud of her ❤
Why didint this video come out 20 years ago? Im moving to uk for college 🤣😂
Good luck!!! Great video. More on this topic please 😊
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉.! May your journey be full of adventures and accomplishments.

Tuition cost in the UK varies depending on the subject you study. Engineering, medicine and law are on par with tuition costs in the US.
I am so proud of you.
From a graduate of Univeristy of Greenwich… Great school, diverse and the option of a gap year for work experience! All the very best !!
A university degree in Scotland is 4 years.
Love seeing this

My kids are a baby and a toddler. But I'm totally open to sending my kids overseas for college based on the current political climate. Great info. :)
In many ways you might learn even more than you would here in the U.S. Go for it 🇬🇧
