I remember the early GTS-R's having manual gearboxes, imagine doing that for 24hrs! A brutal legend and my all time favourite GT car, awesome video as always😍
@@quattroconcept4 It's different. It sounds like a generic European V10, to be fair. The Viper's V10, it's louder and the pipe resonance is more raw, like a V8, specially when slowing down and downshifting.

That's how it is in the Cincinnati area. I work construction on the roads and if one goes by all work stops because the crew is staring . Vipers are my favorite.
@binderfan436 about two weeks ago, a unicorn drove by me, the final gen ACR in bright orange. The final gen is the rarest to find, but I never saw that before. Just went 'daaaaamn'
this and don panoz the esperante gt1 is just summed up of what american race car look like it's so fit the style long nose with big engine in the front
But here's the funny thing... The V10 was initially used for the 1989-2002 Dodge Ram 3500 (if a 5.9 liter Cummins diesel is not what you want) Dodge saved some money by taking the truck's V10 and converting it for Sportscar use. Ford did a similar idea with the 2016 GT, but with the Ecoboost V6, which was an option on almost every car not named the Fiesta.
I sat in one of the red ones one night, when no one was looking. I think it was #92. There were lights around, but it was dark enough in the car that I couldn't find the latch to open the door from the inside. I had to reach out the window and find the exterior door handle. A friend told me it was just as well I didn't find a latch on the inside. With my luck it would have been an emergency release that would drop the whole door off the car.
Viper Racing on PC from Developer Monster Games Publisher Sierra On-Line. that's what got me into Viper and made me appreciate the learning and grinding of going from street car to race car.
During dev at R-Atlanta, a Viper ate the track's hawk. One made the mistake of dive-bombing it (apparently) during a lap and went through the windshield and past the driver. I had a friend in track management there before Panos took it over fully.
@ that sounds about right, I work in racing and setup lighting systems at tracks all over the country. We see/hear some interesting stuff from the flaggers and staff.
Either the arm rest is in the wrong place or the shifter is the wrong shape and length. The fact he has to flip his right elbow constantly doesn't seem right....
Justin Bell mentioned this once the Original GTS-Rs had a really annoying gear shift placement, on longer stints it really starts to hurt, but on the other hand he said it gave a unique and memorable feel that he remembers fondly because it was just " Viper things "
With as many different cameras and lenses, this is an easy 'illusion'. Besides, the car is at an angle in the thumbnail, probably helps the illusion of it being wider even more.
One of them(the one at Mugello) has a box shape cut out at the grille on the front as well as a wider wing and the diffuser protrudes rearward more (might even be slightly bigger as well) The other (red car at Spa) has the streetcars grille a bit narrower wing and somewhat smaller diffusor. Which is the GT1 or the GT2 not sure, but there are differences
Wish thier was a gen 6 Viper 8.2L(104mm×96.5mm)700HP, limited to 7000rpm(hybrid gen 7) and a 5.5L Lamborghini(100mm bore spacing, 72° V, 94mm×79.25mm, same bore and stroke as a 6.6L V12) with 700HP, limited to 9000rpm, + 150HP hybrid assist.
That shifting position seems to be super unconmfortable. Was it really that bad?? Dont get me wrong, I would be the luckiest person if I could drive one of that Vipers.

The Murciélago R-GT sounds 10 times better.

Same here! When I bought my GTS a few years ago it had to be none other than the red with white stripes.
Absolute core memories with that car struggling a bit against the 787b 😂
Mercedes clr flip
It brought back memories of my childhood. I loved them at Le Mans in those days. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching :)
Viper V10 is just 👌
The deceleration and downshifts are raw!
Still one of the most beautiful and best sounding GT race cars imo

What can be better in car guy life than driving Viper on Spa. 😍
Drive there V12:)
I used to race this model in Forza motorsport, just nostalgic remember that afternoons playing in my old Xbox.

I'm a Viper fanatic, especially the 96 and 97 GTS. It's rare enough to see a Viper here in Pennsylvania, and my heart skips a beat when I see one.

I did when I watched the Speed Channel, they carried the ALMS.

Some of the best captured onboard audio of the GTS-R V10 !!
It has the brutality at low RPM of an american V8, but the harmony of a V10 at the top end. Just Viper things.
Harmony:)

Is the car in the thumbnail been edited cause it looks a lot wider than it actually appears to be in the video itself
Looks the same to me. The GT1 Vipers were pretty dang wide, about 4 inches wider than a standard body.
With as many different cameras and lenses, this is an easy 'illusion'. Besides, the car is at an angle in the thumbnail, probably helps the illusion of it being wider even more.
How can you tell the difference between the GTS-R GT1 and the GTS-R GT2?

More cc than a bugatti... 💪
Viper has 8000cc, Bugatti has 8300cc, but the Viper wins in cc per cylinder.
@gen1c8rs88 bugatti never had a 8300cc in veyron, supersport etc. Viper beggin's 8000cc and finish 8300cc in the last version of viper
Bummer manufacturers are done w/ V10s.
