I remember listening to this song all summer in 2006 and 2007. I had burned a copy onto cd and played it in my “Walkman” while I worked my way through college mowing grass. It’s wonderful hearing how they’ve done it up in studio. 🎉

It´s almost impossible to record a studio version that tops a great live one we already know. This one lacks the energy of the live one and the end... Well it´s like they didn´t know how to end it and played that fade out.
Is it just me or do the vocal layers during the chorus sound strange? Love this song live, but the studio vocals have a weird stutter, particularly during the chorus, that I personally find distracting from the rest of the song.

They’ve been playing it live for last couple tours. They replaced the trumpet solo with keyboards. Not as good. Not even close. I’ll agree…it’s a major miss.
Meh. I've never thought the trumpet belonged in DMB's sound. Adding a brass section to "replace" Leroi's woodwind was always a mistake. The inclusion of any trumpet was poorly conceived and frankly an insult to Leroi.

This is NOT a new album, it's a "greatest hits" album with 3 WAY too short new songs, and only 32 minutes and 14 seconds long!!?, and honestly an insult to true DMB fans!!. I opted to get it as a torrent after seeing the track list, as I wasn't about to spend that much money for maybe 3 TRULY NEW songs. Swing and a miss, and an insult to REAL DMB fans...

I've seen these guys live MANY times and I live in Canada and had to travel long distances and through the border to see them at the Gorge!. I have learned how to play MOST of Dave's songs on guitar (properly, which most guitarists can't even do!) actually this song Break free in particular I retuned my acoustic and taught myself to play it like Dave does, note for note, but in a different tuning!, because he uses a Baritone guitar that is tuned different, and I do not have one!. Did you know that?? (a "real fan" would!), I became a drummer because of Carter's drumming, I started a recording studio of my own because of my love for music and this band. I created my own originals band and had people compare my style to Dave Matthews!, so I hardly believe you could possibly be more of a "real fan" than I have been over the decades!. I was simply stating that THIS album was a let down, because as a "REAL FAN" I already have heard all these songs many times, and I was hoping for an album of actually NEW material!. If we sat down together and did DMB trivia, played songs, and compared who knew every lyric to every song of theirs, I GUARANTEE you I'd come out on top as the "real fan" vs you!. the majority of my phone is DMB and I have EVERY album including their old torrent pirated stuff with rare live songs that were never released, such as the Lillywhite sessions!. So please don't insult my intelligence, nor my appreciation of this band implying that I am not a "real fan"!?. This album was a HUGE let down, and I stand by my words as a "real fan" since the start!. It's only 32 mins of music, the 3 new songs are super short, and the rest of them are already on several of their live albums and performances!. I feel it's a waste of money to simply hear what I have heard before, never mind the fact that most of their songs live are better than studio songs they do anyways!.
