I don't think he's done a bad job. No one is criticizing the AD trade, but it sapped their future assets. The Russ trade was a debacle, but I don't think that was Mitch's choice. Its pretty established that was forced through by Lebron/Jeanie.
This is what happens when you trade your young talent and draft capital and pay two players 100+ mil a season. A couple of years down the line you are stuck with cast offs (D.Lo, Rui, Wood, Reddish) filling out your roster. The lakers got a ring and now they are paying the price. Same as Milwaukee, almost the same as Denver. Boston will be in the same boat in two years.

@@bigmike11559 There is really not much establishing that LeBron forced anything of the sort. People tend to forget that LeBron worked very hard to try and get Kyrie in LA, and at one point Kyrie was convinced, but Kyrie himself practically said that you could blame Rob Pelinka for that deal falling through. If Pelinka can stop Kyrie from coming to LA, which would have been a great move in terms of basketball regardless of what PR risk it might have came with, then Pelinka can take responsibility for the terrible Russ trade and blowing up the 2020 championship team which had potential to go for another ring in coming years.

The last part of this interview is JJ acknowledging where DLo thrives. That's exactly the system they ran in Brooklyn with him when he became an all-star and led his team to the playoffs. Double drag screens, p&r, and teammate backdoor cuts is where DLo thrives in shot and playmaking. We know he can score. I hope JJ incorporates a bit of these when Bron is resting but I undersrand we're building a system in which the Lakers will use for at least half a decade.

I love how he addressed the series of plays that led to the reaction. Many young players and fans see the reaction of a coach and think it's directly correlated to a single action. They don't understand that coaches have to see, assess, and adjust to the entire game from tip to final whistle. Oftentimes they have been boiling through mistake after mistake or repeated mistakes in specific situations and they lose their cool. Very rarely is it a single play in a single moment or by a single player is the reason. It may be the catalyst, but rarely is it the whole cause.

@@Gideon_Clarkeobviously like anyone else who thinks jj is a good coach, he is going off these first 9 games. From what we have seen so far JJ looks great. The way he handles the players, the way he holds them accountable, all shows. And the players respect him for it. Is being passionate and slamming your chair down an unprofessional temper tantrum? JJ thought it crossed the line somewhat, seeing as in this very video he admits that he let his emotions get the best of him for a moment. But I wouldn’t call slamming a chair and calling a timeout an unprofessional temper tantrum. The list of amazing coaches and athletes that have lost their patience in competition is endless. @tripleraze321 Giving convoluted "word salad" responses is not really owning up to it. And how do you know players respect him? Have you talked to any of them or personally been around the Lakers facility to witness these acts of "respect"? Starting 5-4 and getting boat raced by Memphis and Detroit doesn't strike me as a very good start to a career. By definition, hovering around .500 is quite average. Who knows, maybe he'll turn out to be the next Phil Jackson, or maybe he'll go by the wayside like so many of the other coaches Lebron has chewed up and spit out. Time will tell, but making that determination after 9 games is fanboy nonsense.

    • @tripleraze321
      @tripleraze321 14 днів тому +1

@ yeah by that logic how silly it was of people to think Michael Jordan was good his first few years, didn’t make the playoffs. Or how silly it was for people to say lebron was great before he even played a game in the nba.
When people show good signs, it is seen and recognized. Why did I say players respect him? Because quite literally in lakers post game interviews as well as dozens of training camp interviews, the players on the lakers roster literally said that they respect him. They literally said the words, “the locker room respects our new coach”. Seeing as they are the players, it is not a leap of logic for me to then believe that the players respect him…

I'm not saying Rus sucks, but...he sucks so hard sometimes.
The worst part about it is that D'LO CAN BE AMAZING, BUT THEN HE DOES CRAP LIKE THIS!
Remember last season LeBron MADE HIM SHOOT THE BALL?!?!
It's a confidence thing with D'Lo, if he would just believe in himself more, he'd easily put up 17-20 per game with 7-10 assists, a steal or 2, with a 3 or 7 boards, and I'm NOT EXAGGERATING, HE IS THAT TALENTED, IT'S WHY WE DRAFTED SO HIGH, IT'S WHY HE STARTS INSTEAD OF BEING THE BEST 6TH MAN ON THE TEAM!
But hey what do I know, I only played point guard on varsity for my high school and college (D2 in jr college, and I know, I yeah I'm aware that doesn't mean much, if anything at all, but when I look back on it, I'm pretty proud of my little game, but yes, I know I suck), and I noticed that the guys who were confident could and shake off a bad first half, would come out blazing in the second half, so I adopted that mindset, and it unlocked my full potential (again, I am well aware that D2 doesn't mean much, and it is not much to be proud but, I am proud of it, and I when my daughter grows up, if she picks up the game, I have no doubt SHE'LL BE BEAST, unlike her daddy 😂), I went from 9 points and 6 assists to 18.7 points and 10.8 assists. So yeah, I understand this a bit more than most (for the final time, I know that I'm nothing special, but please don't rip on me too hard), I'm pretty sure that's Russell's problem...or just ignore what I said because I'm nothing but a never was, I've accepted it, but I'm 100% right about D'Lo.

That why I love Steve Kerr, oh you gonna hear it 😂 that just show that he want to win. But people
Like klay and Poole like to think about themselves

I’ve always hated how unaggressive DeAngelo was. Mid range from the elbow off p&r, taking people of the dribble because he’s a crafty lefty, and occasionally streaky sharpshooter. He again just was never aggressive enough even in his first stint but I get it…he played with Kobe.

Exactly the type of coach the Lakers needed. Everyone doubting him or thinking it was a mistake to hire him is delusional. If you look at a 5-4 start and start celebrating that the Lakers are a clown show u probably have a disability

Well you can call him passionate or lack of self control or low EQ. As long as he wins, I dont care. If he doesn’t, this could be his last season with the Lakers.

LOL, coach Riddick "passion" and "emotion" coming through like he's a toddler. At the end of the day, did they win? That's all that counts with so much money on the line.
