How To Repair Master Boot Record In Windows 7/8/10 - Without CD

IMPORTANT: If bootrec/fixboot comes back with "Access Denied", try typing in bootsect/nt60 sys then type the bootrec /fixboot
This tutorial will show you how to fix, reset and repair the master boot record in Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. If you have boot errors and are having issues booting into Windows, there is a good chance the problem is stemming from the MBR. As I state in the video, as long as you can make it into Safe Mode with Command Prompt functionality, you can follow along with this tutorial.
You might receive the following error alert:

You fixed my computer from an infinity boot loop thank you I was trying to update my computer and I turn my computer on purpose not thinking about the consequences and ended up with UNDOING CHANGES MADE TO YOUR COMPUTER loop and it didnt do Anything it would turn off and on every 10-20 min repeating it self so I tryed your method and it worked I honestly need to create a backup drive in case it happens again we need more people like you best of luck to your channel!!

When I do Bootrec /fixmbr it says "Bootrec" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Ok it's working now!!! :) New SSD disc in my laptop :) it's so fast now, only few seconds and win 7 is up :) I had a problem with mbr after clone. Tried so many different thing, even my recovery disc didn't started. But here in this video I found that what I need, so happy now :) So I started from boot win7 pendrive and the rest exactly like in the video, it works, COOL, thanks man. :)

I followed your instructions, but after I entered the attrib.... prompt, it read PATH NOT FOUND, and then after the....old... prompt, it read The system cannot find the file specified, then after ...bebuild...it read scanning all disks, may take a while. I tried a BIOS roll back and it went from F.04 to F 0? This all started bc on startup, it reads immenant hard drive failure. Please help me! I don't have an installation disk either.

Thanks for the video. Is there a way to specify which drive to do these operations on or does it do them to all connected drives? I want to boot from a bootable Windows drive then do these operations on the unbootable drive. Is it possible? Thanks.

what should one do if u get - '/fixmbr' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

So mine won't even go into safe mode, it just starts up saying either MBR error 2 or 1 press any key to boot from floppy... The F8 will just beep and say the same thing. I got the laptop used as Windows 7, and i have no disk. It is a Lenovo ideapad y570

It Shows
"The Store Export Operation Has Failed.
The System Cannot Find The File Specified."

Maybe run with admin
You only really need the first 2 commands and ofcourse the last one. Everything else is simply to back up the present broken BCD. Which begs the question - why backup the broken BCD? Anyway this worked for me. Thanks MDTech.

Trying to restore failed HDD from backup image created in driveimage xml. I've used this exact backup and version of driveimage xml previously and had success. This time I cannot get the restored disk to boot. In cmd running from my win 7 recover disk (which I used the last time this happened) running bootrec /fixmbr "operation completed successfully". Running bootrec /fixboot and I get "element not found". Running bootrec /rebuildbcd I get the option to press y for my windows installation found but I get "element not found".
I'm baffled here. Any ideas? Other than the physical HDD nothing is different between this time and the last time I had to replace the HDD with the exception of why. Last time was to upgrade to a larger disk. This time I am replacing due to failed controller board.

When I put in “Bootrec /fixboot” I get “Access is denied” but it never asked for admin verification. I broke my computer after attempting to update to windows 10 from 7. If anyone can help me I will owe you one solid. Also I just really miss playing Skyrim

My main hard drive died, I disconnected it and connected a different one as the main drive, I did a clean, format, and clean install of windows 7 on my drive. I partitioned it into three partitions since this drive is a terrabyte large. Then I tried to update with windows 10, and it gave me an error saying my windows/system32/ntoskrnl.exe is either missing or corrupt and would not let me exit with the options of f8 or to try again...I know it probably has something to do with the master boot, but it does boot up fine to windows and I checked the bios since I did that first before installing the windows 7 OS, and that looks fine in the bios so it is not that...some suggested it was the keyboard, but I tried that, still wouldn't boot up Windows 10, still gave me the same error. Would doing this in the boot fix that or do I need to do something else to get it to boot up the windows installation disk?
