Hello, I've been following your page for a few weeks and appreciate you sharing your gifts and talents as an esthetician. Thank you for sharing the update of your grandmother. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
Sending all my love, hugs, and prayers Kristen!! My grandmother also has dementia and Alzheimer’s, it’s really tough on everyone and I’m sorry you’re all going through this. Thank you for reminding us to cherish our loved ones 🤍
Im sorry that this is happening 😢 I worked at a senior center and I have witnessed dementia on a couple of beloved residents. All I can say is to be there for her. Give her lots of love and attention because even though it seems like they don’t see it they do feel the love. I wish you to have the strength and all the good and positive energy towards you. 🙏🏼💖
Sending you so much love, strength and prayers. I know first hand how family issues can weight on you and your mental health and you are handling it with such grace! ❤️
You are a strong and resilient woman. You will rise and you will be okay. This is not easy. But by talking about it, you will find support in places you never thought you would. Keep her memories alive through you. It’s the best gift we can give our loved ones. 🤍
I’m very sorry to hear this and I will keep your family in my prayers. My grandmother (step, but always considered her my real grandmother) passed two years ago. Watching her decline from dementia was extremely hard. I went through the denial stages also. I didn’t believe my mom or my grandad that something was wrong because every time I talked to her it was completely fine. Until one day she said something that made absolutely no sense and that’s when it hit me. Unfortunately it doesn’t get better. But the best advice I’ve can give is just to spend as much time with her as you can. This happened during Covid so I couldn’t see her as much. When she talks about the past or something off, sometimes you can just go along with it. Some people correct them but I find that it frustrates them even more, so I tried to make my grandmother feel comfortable and normal. But of course there will be some things you have to correct because they tend to accuse people of stealing when really they misplaced something. As far as the nursing home, that may be the only option. Sometimes they can get very mean and violent, or need around the clock care and it gets way out of control. So start looking at some places now just in case and of course look up ratings and reviews. Again I will pray for your family and I hate to see anyone go though this 🥺😔🙏🏾 Dementia is an awful disease and I truly hate it.
Praying for you I lost my grandparents back to back to this disease. God is with you and your family. Take many videos and pictures because I’m happy to have the memories. Peace and love
Praying for her, you and your family. 🫶🏾🙏🏾 My grandma, only living grandparent, has dementia and it is HARD. But what helps me is remembering all of the times she had her memory and I’m always snapping photos and videos of her and my kids. We refuse to send her to a SKN (skilled nursing facility) because my aunt takes care of her full time, and we are grateful for her. Ugh sending you a virtual hug!! 💛💛💛💛💛
Kristen, as someone who’s grandmother is like a mother to me, this hurts to hear. I can’t imagine how much you must be feeling and how emotional this is for you. I watch your content religiously as I grow my solo esti business and you’ve been a big inspiration for me. So thank you for also sharing your personal endeavors and mountains and keeping us here with you. I am very sorry and wishing your grandma good health and definitely thinking of you and your family 🤍 lots of love and healing vibes 📿
My mom is going through the same thing, what is not possible for doctors is possible for God, if it is his will he will give it back to you, do not stop praying and ask God to do his will🙏 apart from that there are some supplements They are called NeuroroQ and after 3 months I have noticed a great improvement in my mother to the point that we will go on vacation soon, which I had already given up as impossible
Just know your grandma loves and appreciates you now more then ever for the strength you are providing to your family during this challenging time ❤🥹🙏🏻 stay strong!
My great grandmother had dementia & at first it was hard because she wasn’t herself. After a while I was more excited to see her & less worried about her condition. When you see her take lots of pictures & videos. In my great grandmother’s case, I couldn’t call her by her name nickname because she didn’t remember being called that . I called her by her real name. I’ll keep you in my prayers. You & your family will get through this. God will give you strength.❤
Sending prayers for you and your family and especially your gramma. Two years ago today my Dad had a stroke and without getting too graphic, I spent the next few weeks fighting for him, but wasn’t allowed to be with him because of Covid restrictions. He passed away on February 13 after having been at the rehab a couple of days. Losing someone and knowing they were alone and there is nothing you can do…it’s horrible. I was praying to have the opportunity to take him home and take care of him. He was only 60 years old. Yes, time does seem to sneak up on us and those we love are no long around. It is hard to see our loved ones go through difficult things. It seems you have a tight knit family and I pray that together you are able to come to a solution that works for you all and still honors her. As for videos it’s 100% to be truthful here. And if you need to take time away that is OK! Sending love ❤
I’ll be praying for your grandma, you and the family! 🙏🏽You guys are going to get through this together! ❤️ & I truly do believe that your Grandma is BEYOND proud of you!!!
Yes I wouldn’t put her in a old people home those people are so mean to elderly and too much people in 1 facility to really care for each individual I feel & it takes a toll on the person health & mental when their not being understood. You could have a nurse come to your house for a couple hours until you come home from work or something and have cameras in your place so you could watch her. But stay Strong & continue to push through Enjoy your time with your Grandma while you can. She wouldn’t want you to worry about her as much You Know ❤❤❤
Sorry, that happened to your grandmother, I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Also, if you guys want her home, it will be better for her to have someone home, 24 hours that will be an option, she will be in a familiar space. My dad had it, and I've also worked with people with dementia. I'm also doing a research paper on Alzheimer's. It's hard no lie, but by God's grace, you and your family will be ok. Make sure you guys have pictures, and stuff around that way she will know. We can only always remember the great times. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏾
Hi Kristen, yes I am keeping your grandma in prayer. Also, praying for you and your family members that God would fill you with His peace, and give you clarity concerning the next steps to take regarding her care through this journey. I’m very close to my Mom and Grandma, so I completely understand what you’re feeling. I spent all of 2020, and 2021 taking care of my mom when she was going through a major health situation. I also had to take care of my grandma, because my mom was her care provider at the time. By the grace of God my mom is healed, and is able to care of herself. I thought I was going to lose it, but I didn’t. You’re going to be alright, you’ll learn how strong you really are. 🙏🏾
Thank you SO SO much for your words and your prayers. it means a lot and it sounds like you are a wonderful daughter and granddaughter and they are blessed to have you. xoxo
This hit home for me ! I have been there with that struggle personally with my grandma. It’s so hard to watch someone mind go like that and the acceptance is even harder. My mom and I took care of her until hospice had to step in.
Im so sorry to hear that. It definitely is really difficult, the fact that you and your mom were able to take care of your grandma as much as you could is amazing! But just have to focus on all the great memories and continue spending time with our loved ones all together as much as possible. ♥♥
Omg!! I’m so sorry to hear you and your family going through this. Sending you so much love and prayer 🙏🏽 ❤ y’all are in my thoughts and I hope you guys can figure everything you need to.
I am sorry you are going through all this. I am the same as you, grew up with my paternal grandmother and I call her mom. She turned 80 and she has slowly declined since the pandemic, because of course when you take things away from older people’s routines it can take a big toll on them and the locking up did that to so many people. (I swear she got covid and they didn’t test her because they didn’t want to admit she still got it with all the precautions lol.) I finally saw her last month after 3 years and I just wish she was closer than Mexico, but I plan on going as much as I can from now on. We also have talked about getting her in-house care because even though my aunts live with her they have to work and she will need more care. It’s sad and hard to accept it. My husband’s grandmother had Alzheimers and man that was hard specially for everyone around her. She also had to have in-house care. I will keep you in my thoughts esty. 🫶🏼
