- If only the Chinese would stop trying to copy Western watches and focus on making 100 percent Chinese quality watches. I have often thought that its too bad that we don't see too many 100 percent Chinese quality watches. But now I finally got one in my hands. In this video I review the incridble value Baltany Bobble Back California Dial vintage inspired watch.

I bought that exact watch last December, 2022. Looks totally fine on my 71/4" wrist, has kept accurate time, long lasting lume and has a real sapphire crystal. The California dial is provocative yet classy and te watch is a true strap monster. Baltany has done a great job slowly producing affordable, nice looking watches. Check out their military inspired chronograph which is the new darling of the watch UA-camrs...
Thanks for the input. I’m happy to hear the watch keeps ticking and looking great.
The cream color indices makes this watch; especially against the blue dial.
I orderedthe black one 3 days ago from Ali. I used to hate the California dial but I have grown to like the idea of having one in my huge watch collection.
I'm trying to avoid cheap Chinese watches, but this looks very interesting. Yes, very derivative of an old Bubble back, but in a nice way. If it was a little bigger I might jump on it. Maybe I'll keep an eye out for the next sale? 😊
@ 5:49 you mention this is not an original design. Can you please say which watch it takes its design cues from? Thank you
The California dial was introduced by Rolex in the 1930’s. Later also used by Panerai. The Rolex Bubble Back ref. 2940 is the clear inspiration.
I likes dee bubble but crystal looks goodniks cheers from Solbandan .
baltany, heimdallr, san martin are great
love it
I'm curious why you are questioning the longevity of the movement. I've not heard anything about these dying after a few years. Have you?
It's simply because these often anonymous movements don't have a track record of quality like for example Seiko movements.
@@TimeAndCrown it's not an anonymous movement. It's a Seagull ST1701
@@ScottNotAvailable It's a Chinese movement. They are known to be unreliable. Maybe they have become better. If you have data proving otherwise let me hear.
@@TimeAndCrown It's a Swiss movement that the Chinese purchased and improved upon. Can you help me understand where this reputation came from that Chinese movements are bad? And what exactly are you comparing it to? In my opinion they are more graceful than the equivalent Miyota. Timex uses almost all Chinese movements and people still associate the brand with "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking".
@@ScottNotAvailable I’m sure you are not looking for gaining knowledge. I made my point clear - you really believe for example that the Chinese Venus movements are as good as the Swiss just because they use the same machines? I invite you to do your own research.
Why do you mention the movement as being chinese if its seiko?
DON'T buy a baltany watch. My baltany watch completely failed after wearing it 4 times. I contacted baltany requesting their address so I could ship it to them to be repaired / replaced, it has a 2 year warranty. They refused to provide their shipping address and said to have it serviced locally, despite the movement completely failing. Unbelievable, they are NOT a legitimate company. I just ate $150, it went right down the drain !
