I live in the same Wiltshire area- recognised the road going through the Longleat woods and have taken my lotus through there multiple times- must have been great fun in a small hatchback like this👍

Matthew Maplestone best two I found recently - ebays genuine kit £210 or if you’re not a fan of eBay - Renault parts direct are doing a deal for 312 ish with everything including extra seals 👍🏻

Hello I just got a Clio 197 and what you described as kangarooing it’s happening to me constant lol Iv never had a problem driving any Manual cars but for some reason I’m struggling badly it’s when I’m taking off and shifting into 2 and 3rd it’s not smooth at all I don’t know if it’s a mechanical problem or just me being shite at driving it any help mate ?
Not you mate, it’s common in 197 and maybe 200 aswell. Can be remapped out to make it smoother! Also look into a map sensor support bracket may help.

Hello bud. It happens to me also when engine is cold. Give it a little gas when shifting geard and it will change them like dsg :D
I have a 197. No hopping. Just warm it up bit lite on the gas👍

Jason Emmett depends on what you want it for. A lot of people do the swap then come back. I like the 197 it’s better through the corners but slower!
@@jwmeale3058 the speed isn't as important to me as stability... Will be going on my next trip to the nurburgring... Haven't taken the 172... But I reckon the better suspension would be more suitable

In Greece I'm getting a mk2 with that money. For a cheap 197 I need 7k €..
And if you put the gas prices in the game, becomes a nightmare. At least we don't pay crazy money to the mechanics..

To answer your question also, I hear about chocolate gearboxes.. My knowledge about the reliability ends about there..
Sorry missed your comment! All depends some are some aren’t. Gearbox is the major one make sure there’s no crunches and is nice! Check to see if and when the belts were done! 👍🏻

6:23 i always do mate, its a good habbit to get into, smoother revs, the revs dont snatch higher and jolt the car, keeps the gearbox nice and happy etc, very good habbit, heel toe where you can, and if youre downshifting, not on the brakes, just blip the throttle anyway

9:57 becase the 197 is so planted anyway, youll probably find youre not getting to its limits so it doesnt need to do anything when its turned on! with the 182 its working hard all the time when youre sending it as the car is so deadly :D

dont get a 197 as a first car get a mazda 2 sport or a corsa turbo and then upgrade when ur 19-20
