OMG I JUST REALIZED the Forest spirit might be reference to the púca mostly seen in Irish mythology. It can curse, spread wisdom, shape shift, cause mischief, talk, aaaand it can bless crops if given a share of them each year. If you don't give it it's share it'll curse the crops. It's a type of fae/goblin sometimes is labeled as a spirit.
It's just a sweet, good, fun apple family episode.
It episode 12 that I'm waiting for these two are going freak out so much
So from this flashback we can sorta confirm that the parents died somewhere in that span of time from The great Seedling to the day she got her cutie mark.
That's the shark they jumped in season 5 "Slice Of Life" Wow. What a call back. Well done Hasbro.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Great Seedling actually exists. There are many myths and legends in Equestria that have been proven to be real (the Mare in the Moon/Nightmare Moon, the Pillars, the Pony of Shadows, and Grogar).
Don't forget the Sonic Rainboom, because until RD did it in the Best Young Flyers competition everypony thought the Sonic Rainboom was just an old mares tale, hell even filly RD thought that it was in the season 5 finale.

I absolutely believe they exist. Equestria is mysterious enough for them to be real.
I love this episode, especially since it focuses on AJ and Apple Bloom sisterly bonding and the Great Seedling looked amazing and majestic, looking like a deerlike creature, and of course it was good to see Bright Mac and Pear Butter make another appearance even though it was just a flashback.
In terms of design, the Great Seedling reminds me of the two deer-like Pokémon (Sawsbuck and Xerneas).

While I’m happy that Bright Mac and Pear Butter made a small cameo, living with their children in a flashback, I kinda wish that there would’ve been a flashback episode dedicated to them living out their lives after the events of their love story. Still, I consider this another S9 wishlist item checked off!
This episode seems to have an obsession with weird faces - did you notice?
