    I have had an international return and he is correct, it literally sent me a message that said buyer wants to return, with a follow-up message from eBay almost immediately that says they have taken over the return and I have nothing to do. So awesome!

    I just want to clarify that I am talking about eBay International Shipping (EIS) In this video. Which is the current international shipping program for eBay in the US. If you are outside of the US your international shipping process will be different.

    Question....I have figured out the shipping charges ahead for an item to ship direct from my location internationally and listed with that amount of shipping on my listing. Can I bypass the Glengrove, Illinois hub and do it myself?

      Yeah it ls defiantly more expensive to ship internationally. But, that’s not something we (sellers) are in control of. From what I understand EIS has actually made it cheaper for buyers then the previous eBay international programs like GSP.

    There are certain things you cannot sell internationally. I know that you cannot sell knives to the UK. I got listings for kitchen knives with international shipping available pulled off of eBay, because the UK was one of the countries I will ship to. I had to just completely take international shipping off of kitchen knives, in order to have my listings remain. Kind of a pain in the butt.

    It's worth mentioning that there are increased final value fees for international sales.

    • @ReadySetResell
      @ReadySetResell  11 місяців тому +1

      There are not. Here it is straight from the EIS page:
      “Your final value fee is based on the final price of the item, plus shipping cost you charged the buyer to deliver the item to the US shipping hub, and any other amounts you may charge the buyer. If you offer free domestic shipping, the final value fee won’t be applied to this component.
      Sales tax, international shipping cost, and import charges are not included into the final value fee calculation. Refer to our standard eBay selling fees for more information.”

Also, you had parfume as one of your product but I saw that International shipping does not allow for certain products like colognes.

The fee was increased an additional amount since their home address was Thailand without regard to the domestic shipping address. Is that the same with EIS that the fees are higher than domestic fees since the customer's home address is not domestic? Thanks for always providing pertinent content!

    The biggest concern is that an item that should not be sent to a certain country falls on the backs of the seller rather than eBay catching the sale and not catching it. Their terms are not real clear but basically says that you need to know what you can and cannot sell to each country. That is from my understanding when reading it anyway. I would love to hear your thoughts.
    The other concern is that when you set Time Away you still have to ship your items unless you change your handling time. When I did ship internationally, I never used the Time Away for that reason. They make Time Away sound good until you get a defect on your account.

    I have a question for international buyers regarding EIS vs the old Global Shipping Program. I've read that the GSP charged the buyers a lot for shipping. Does the EIS also charge a lot for shipping? I ship internationally but use Pirate Ship's Simple Export Program, which is the same as EIS, but there are no protections regarding returns and refunds, AFAIK. I get a couple international sales a month.

    I like the features of EIS, but I had way more international sales through eBay's Global Shipping Program. Its night and day and not in a good way. Ultimately, the sales are what matter. Convenience of EIS doesn't top the loss of international sales that many of us are experiencing. I definitely like EIS, but I like the GSP sales more.

    • @ReadySetResell
      @ReadySetResell  11 місяців тому

      Hmm it’s been the opposite for me I’m defiantly getting more sales with EIS. Granted I can’t say for sure that is because of the program switch. It could be other factors like the types of items I’ve been selling (like vintage toys and clothing which have a huge international market). But Ive defiantly have more lately.

    Awesome and thanks for the excellent vid! Quick question:
    So early this year, I sold a very expensive NIB action fig to a Canadian buyer. Shipped the item to Ebay’s EIS hub and all went smooth. Week later, buyer files return request and gives no reason (apparently had some buyers remorse). The items was in perfect condition and as described. Apparently I still had to refund the customer in full 😢 and the customer sent it back. I thought Ebay will absorb the return? What did i do wrong?

    • @ReadySetResell
      @ReadySetResell  11 місяців тому

      If you were shipping it through EIS and the buyer opened a return request then ebay would absorb that return cost and you would not have received the item back. I check and see if you were part of EIS at that time and if you were I would I contact eBay as to why.

    I will say that EIS has definitely gotten me a few more sales and that's been great. However every once in a while I'm not sure what it is, but the actual sale (Item cost that I was charging buyers) Vs the order total (What ebay actually charges me fees based on) were vastly different. I've seen a few EIS sales where I sell something for like $20 free shipping, but the order total turns into something like $35. This means the fees I am paying eBay are nearly DOUBLING which really, really hurts profit margins. This is a rare occurrence, but it's something to keep in mind if you have extremely low profit margins like I do. I have a few $15 items I only make like $3-$5 on and doubling the fee is enough to wipe that out completely so it just turns into a breakeven sale rather than a profit.

    I opted out of eBay international shipping because of VERO. For example, if you list HP toner cartridge and have eBay international shipping, 100% you will get VERO violation because you as a seller is still responsible to check if such items are OK to ship to other countries. eBay should at least give you a warning before listing if an item is NOT permitted to be ship in a specific country so you can avoid VERO violation.

    The international shipping program looks amazing for US sellers, sadly the program isn't available for me in Canada. Which means on low priced items the shipping is usually the bulk of the cost and if I have to deal with returns. I'm also footing the return cost along with having to deal with customers who don't always speak the same language as me. A $10 profit for me turns into a $40 or more cost to the business and a lot of wasted time. Returns happen but without the eBay international shipping program being available to me, it is just not as viable as only shipping to Canada & the US.

      Not true. While that may be an option it’s defiantly in the buyers favor to order through eBay directly since they have protections during the process.
