China is loving this. Putin attacks/weakens Western resources while completely demolishing Russia's economy, future, and with nukes world support. In the end China takes back its Northern Territories Russia temporarily stole and annexed from China. Russia has no remaining friends or allies willing to counter China. Both China and US rational enough to realize the madness. World goes back to a cold war status of 'The West' vs 'China sphere'
China now has its own vast land-path oil supply, eliminated its current achilles heel of having mostly sea based oil.

China is a big country because China culture is more tolerant than other countries. Do you know why China can occupy a big size of land in Asia equal to whole Europe and has so many different people to live peacefully? On the other hand, Europe has similar land size as China but Europe was divided to a few dozens countries which fight frequently among themselves.
The reason is Europe culture is not tolerant as China. For example If there is food they do not like, other people are not allowed to eat this food as well. One specific example: some minorities in China (about 1% to 2% of China’s population) near Vietnam and Korea eat dog. So some people in Vietnam and Korea eat dog as well. It is some people’s culture in Asia. China as such a big country is more tolerant to the different culture from different races and group of people. That is why different races of people in China get along and become one country.
In Europe there is no tolerance. They discriminate China because 1-2% of China’s people eat dog. The difference also make Europe hostile towards each other. That is why world wars all start from Europe.

Russia and China together with the other nuclear powers (US, UK and France) gave security assurances to Ukraine in 1994 in return for Ukraine surrendering their nuclear weapons. The main motivation was to limit the spread of nuclear weapons. China has numerous technologically advanced neighbours (Japan, Taiwan, S. Korea, Philipines, Vietnam etc) which could easily develop nuclear weapons for deterrence if they felt threatened by nuclear weapons. For this reason, China seems very unlikely to support unilateral use of nuclear weapons by Russia.

That's correct, those two bombs are considered tactical nuclear weapons today. As a side note when we see the pictures of utterly destroyed downtown Hiroshima we must remember that many Japanese buildings of the era weren't as study as f.ex. German buildings. Afaik it wasn't uncommon for private homes to be made of paper. We probably hadn't seen the same level of destruction had the buildings been made of bricks or concrete.

DW probably forgot that the United States and NATO had already used depleted uranium bombs for nuclear weapons in the past few years, while labeled them as conventional weapons. Moreover, the pollution caused by depleted uranium bombs in Serbia is described as the same level as a normal air pollution.😢
Does this indicate that Germany will accept the use of depleted uranium bombs in Europe? Or perhaps people can redefine nuclear weapons as they please?

    • @ScentlessSun

Depleted uranium is not a fission or fusion bomb. You realize this? One thing is not equal to the other thing? No, a nuclear weapon is a bomb that derives it's explosive force from nuclear FISSION and/or FUSION. That's the definition, that's what the word means. Depleted uranium is not fissile material, it doesn't explode. It's useful in armor piecing rounds simply because it's very heavy.

But it is a fact that a large number of local cancers have occurred in the disaster-stricken areas of Serbia. Of course, you can also quibble that smoking can also cause cancer. But following your logical definition, changing the definition of tactical nuclear weapons to be ordinary weapons can be also a dictionary game! Since US and NATO can redefine uranium 238 to be non-nuclear radiation, if people relax it a little bit, then people should also accept that tactical weapons with less radiation can also be renamed! Anyway, NATO does change the rule, why can't Russia and other countries follow suit?

Getting the poorly-informed all worked up over nuclear weapons may drive viewership, but it hardly constitutes a public service. Russia is not on the verge of using nuclear weapons. Russia hasn’t proposed a ceasefire, much less terms for a peace treaty. Using nuclear weapons without having some sort of proposal on the table invites a reply in kind; i.e., a US warhead employed against a suitable target on Ukrainian soil. At the very least, we should expect a massive USAF operation in response against Russian targets in Ukraine if for no other reason than to discourage Russia from believing that use of nukes won’t get a reaction of equal or greater significance. That’s not what Russia is after. If Russia intends to intimidate Ukraine and the West into dancing to the Russian tune, Russia can hardly expect any dancing until the song is selected, the band hired, and the instruments tuned for play. There not being a song, a band, or a request for dance, Russia isn’t about to initiate nuclear warfare just for the sake of shocking Ukraine and the West. There’s too much that can go wrong at a time when Russia is not clearly losing the war.

If they were clever about it they would just say: "Well we're not moving the goal post. We won't use it unless NATO troops are deployed. It is out of our hands. Cause and effect." - Like the geopolitical move of chess. If they present it that way China might just say; they won't use it if you don't deploy troops and China might talk to NATO to try and not escalate. Keep it at it is. Do not escalate or change the goal post.
And then if NATO troops are deployed they could even just do an open air nuclear test in their borders.

Further definitive proof of Russia's well-earned status as an international pariah. The Russian people need to think long and hard about their willingness to be led by such an obtuse man.
