- In this video we begin general engine maintenance. We begin with resolving
the oil leak from the back of the engine. The vacuum pump seals have failed.
We have a vacuum pump seal kit ordered and we will replace them. b6 b7

Thanks for this one..... This is my last try to get rid of the check engine light on my Wife s Audi.
Excellent job!
Should I oil inside the pump after rebuilt? If not, the parts will not have friction? I have rebuilt mine, and cleaned the inside (no oil).. Just wanted to re confirm before I put back and start the car..
Oil it. Or an assembly oil. It will take a few seconds before oil reaches thr pump. Definitely lube it up.
Any ways I believe it's not required.. I have put it without lubing it and working fine.. Just not impressed with the bolt quality.. Seems I have ripped one.. Will be hard next time
Unfortunately the oil is leaking from the metal seal which is between the pump and engine.. What could be the reason? Not so tight screws as my bottom one was striped or the seal itself? If the latter, can I use a sealant instead?
@@MIangelguy there I'd a seal around pump note 2 diff size pumps exist so make sure the o ring is correct that goes around the part that slides in engine.
do you think there is a need to change the complete pump - a new one?
Maybe if there is damage inside or it won't stop leaking after seal replacement.
Good video, I was going to do the jb weld job for the hose. But this looks pretty simple and the gaskets aren't much more than buying the epoxy.
100% just get a shallow hex bit ratchet. It will make removing the vacuum pump bolts super easy. Performance Tool W475 1/4" Drive Mini Ratchet with Bits www.amazon.ca/dp/B01FWPNYDW/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_g_1VSESSYWF5R26F9M5GFW something like that.
How's the seals holding up?
Well. It is going to be 2 years in July. No leak from the pump.
@@MyHomeGarage Good to hear. So these generic gaskets do work over the expensive RKX? They're probably the same supplier it looks like. I just realized some oil dripping on top of one of my heater core hoses from the rear flange. Probably the culprit to why it previously popped right out of the flange and ended up losing coolant. Now I gotta tackle this pump. Gonna tackle it and report back. Thanks!
@@80sGuy. my reae flange is leaking again. So I'm going full oem
@@MyHomeGarage Yep. Always a good idea. I just bought a boat load of parts from an Audi dealer, including the rear flange with updated part number - last three digits 133C instead of 132C. I'll be replacing it when I replace the gasket on the vacuum pump since it is out of the way.
PRO BRO.
Thanks brother. Alittle research and time and anything is possible.
Good luck brother
Trying to do mine but the lower bolt has a stripped head. The previous owner messed with it . I've tried everything but no success any tips?
Its tight back there. Even if you wanted to hammer something on no space. The lower bolt on the passenger side. Its almost all feel with that one. Maybe an extractor type bit the correct size. That you can hammer in there and it tightens as you turn. Order new bolts. I didn't have a problem with mine. But there maybe some tips and tricks on the online b7 forums. If I come across something ill definitely post.
@@MyHomeGarage thanks man . I finally did it . By using a mini ratchet with a 27t torque bit and applying a pressure with a pry bar
Good to hear brother. Replace those bolts and clean out the threaded hole. If you have a re threading kit almost like a tap but its designed to clean threads. You will be golden. Glad to hear it. Those 3 bolts are the hardest part.
When it was leaking did you get a p2279 code?
It was leaking when I bought car and it didn't have a code. .
Same here but got as wel a p2279 diagnosis code
@@arsenaslan what is the code description???
P2279Intake Air System Leak p2187 syteem too lean at idle
P0507Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected
I changed the pvc valve and hose’s same problem then I pulled the gear box of to change the gasket on the crankshaft then. I discovered the vacuum pump is leaking as wel thats the reason that i asked you was the check engine light on?
What is the name of the red bit tool you used?
Ita like a hand stubby ratchet.
That is a great easy to follow video. I have started to reseal my pump because the vacuum fitting is loose, but it looks as though it cannot be removed, it does not have the two small holes for releasing the fitting, is my pump a throw away item?
Disconnect hoae at firewall and leave hose on have a better look on bench
@@MyHomeGarage Thanks for replying, but there is defiantly no way to release the outlet fitting, the alloy housing appears to be folded around the plastic pipe fitting.

Getting that cam lobe lined up is complete bs. Been fighting it for well over an hour. What a completely stupid design😂
You gotta feel it with your hands and rotate it slowly once you have it close to line it up
@@MyHomeGarageit is literally the worst thing ever I too have been at it for hours
turn music off when you talk
Thanks. Didn't realize.
