Well done. Helped me a bunch, and saved me a ton of money I would have spent on a new one. Thank you, and keep up the good work. Is there a known torque spec for a nip, or just a bit? LOL. Just kidding, thank you.
Thanks for this! mech told me my vac pump is leaking oil. It’s been hard to start for a while too, I was thinking it might be fuel pump non return valve failing but looks like it’ll be the vac pump. Got a stiff pedal too so all my seals must be shot! I’ve got low pressure to my turbo too, mech said it’s 300 when it should be 500 (Don’t know what unit he said). Wastegate is well noisy, it’s over boosting and has some hesitation, would you think this could all be down to the vac pump too? It’s just had a new n75
Thanks for the upload, my 1.9 tdi oil sump is filling rather rapidly with diesel, besides the injectors do you know if a bad seal/gasket on the tandem pump can let it in that way ?
if its only a a tiny leak of oil and fuel. do you still recommend opening the internals to do all the little bits? or would the outer main gaskets be enough.. no other fuelling issues with pressure etc
In my experience the orange seal in the (as seen in the video) with the little circular section fails 9 times out of 10. I've also seen issues where the actual gear mechanism gets worn out in which case the pump can't really be fixed without donor parts
There are no factory instructions or gaskets available for repairing this part. The factory instructions require replacement in case of failure. The problem is, you can't check to see if you've got a tight seal between the engine oil and the fuel compartment. If there is even a small leak, fuel goes into the engine oil, dilutes it, you don't notice it and trouble ensues. (Crankshaft, hydraulic cylinder, bearing) Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing this from bad motives, my own experience.
New repair kit - diydaly.co.uk/products/1-4tdi-1-9tdi-2-0tdi-2-0sdi-vacuum-fuel-tandem-pump-repair-kit
Well explained, is very easy to understand your repair videos ,fairly easy repair job ,thanks for your content,
Thanks 👍👍
Hello! what order does the fuel pipe holder go back to the valve cover? valve cover screw-fuel holder-nut? thanks
As others have said, this is a great instructional video for tearing down and building back up the tandem pump - thank you
Going to do this tomorrow. Fantastic descriptions and instructions. Really appreciate you posting this.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the help with this video. It helped me a lot! Everything super clean :D
Great video,, thanks 👍
Thanks 👍
Excellent video.
Thank you very much!
Top job. 😊
Thank you! 😃

Thanks 👍 haha I’m afraid I’m not sure of the exact torque
So much easier than with the Audi, where the engine stands lengthwise with the pump 6 cm from the torpedo wall..!

Pozzzz, dali je pumpa curila ili je bio neki drugi problem? Koji je razlog reparacije.

Yes it can cause the same issue mage

any suggestions?
None
Thanks
👍
Do you need to relieve fuel pressure before removing the fuel hoses?
Nice video. Why not buy a new one ( aftermarket ) ? Al the work that you put in it.
I bought a brand new bosch pump for just over £100 Only takes an hour to change
How do you feel about the Bosch “upgrade” over the old LUK pump?
I’m a big fan of Bosch 👍
@@diydaly is there any subtle gains besides reliability? I would love to get a pump but they are kind of pricey over here in the States
@@diesel09 not really to be honest the other style pumps are still decent
I've noted that, the repair kit for the1.9 PD 8 hole tandem pumps don't include those small springs. Is that because they are not necessary?
Yeah I see that but I’m not sure as not had one apart tbh
@@diydaly Thanks for the reply. It's ok I found a video specifically on those 8 hole tandem pumps.
Mine says STOP after I try and start the engine?
So which part or seal actually fails in those tandem pumps
Various seals failed , most common is the centre / shaft seal
@@diydaly thank you great video
