I love the mechanism in The Shipwreck Arcana where if you can't 'legally' play either one of your fates on the 4 face up available clue cards, you can play one on the score card to indicate as such. Which basically tells everyone else "my other fate cannot be expressed using any of these clues" and they kind of have to do some reverse logic!
Also, having the higher numbers making the cards fade faster means you'll likely play a lower one whenever possible... And that is another piece of information that might be communicated when there was more than one option.
It really is such a clever design, and though it can be quite a bit of logic and deduction, I find it to be quite relaxing to play! 🙂
    Thanks for sharing this!

I agree, that's a clever way to keep the gaming moving forward. Thank you for recommending this one, Iain!

I forgot (ironically) to mention one thing I really enjoy about this game: Because of the tokens each player has on the table, the game requires little to no memorization.

Except maybe which cards were out when they played their last fate. If you have a lot fading, that can be important, and especially if they're forced to play their older fate rather than the new one like you usually want to.

I agree that the mechanism of a 'boon effect' being rewarded to players if they can't get thru the (initially) difficult gameplay, especially in this case as players get to keep that in mind as they try to 'expire' less useful clue cards in order to get that boon.

I love this game and backed the first KS. You get to work with positive and negative inferences in a cooperative way (yay, logic!), which makes it a great puzzley family game. It is also very portable. My family frequently grabs it to play at restaurants - very compact, easily set up/torn down, and food resistant if you sleeve the cards.

I absolutely agree! One of the photos in the main image for this video is actually of the game on a restaurant table. It was the perfect length for a game while we were waiting for our food. :)

Tagiron: you have to deduce other player's tiles which contain a number between 0-7 and colour red, blue or green (only 5s are green). To do so you get to choose between six different questions about the opponent's tiled (compared to code 777 where you have to ask the question you flip up).

I wasn't sure about this game when you first brought it up in a previous, but it looks far more interesting with a more thorough overview of what the game is.

Also check out Rahdo's run-through and you can even try it out on Tabletopia if you can find someone to join you

hmm first coop game that comes to my mind that starts hard and gets easier is spirit island. thats my main reason why i prefer it to all the pandemics; that and because it cleverly prevents the alpha player problem.
